The Daily Quest: Of gear guides, DK interviews and Pest Control
We here at WoW Insider are on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
- The Warcraft Hunters Union has a guide on completing the Pest Control achievement.
- If you're looking for an overview of the Elemental Shaman spec, the WTFSpaghetti blog has build and gear recommendations as well as spell rotations.
- The new Paladin blog, Pink Raid Frames has a FAQ-in-progress for Holy Paladins which so far covers build, glyphs and mana management.
- The Scourge, a Death Knight focused blog, features an interview with a different DK player every week. This week they talk to Mundien of Spirestone who is in the Navy and has limited play time.
- The Holy Dueg! Priest blog has posted a pre-Naxx Priest gear guide. You can also check out WoW Insider's pre-Naxx Holy Priest gear guide for another take on the same subject.

I can just picture all the DK interviews:
Q: So Lichnihhght what class did you used to play?
A: Rogue
Q: What's the hardest part of being a DK:
A: It's a toss-up between only getting to die twice and not being able to 1-shot every other class.
Q: What the most challenging part of playing a DK?:
A: Well one time I fell asleep during a raid, and my head landed on the keyboard, that was tough cause I finished 2nd in DPS.
So Deathdeeler Tell us about your Arena Ranking:
A: well my rating is 5600 and I started playing WoW last week. Haven't died yet, really liking it so far.

Before you go off and slam the DK's featured might I suggest you actually read their stories.
Mundien is leveling and learning to tank with his DK while deployed at sea in the Navy.
Regardless of your opinion about a DK's ability to faceroll I think he deserves your respect.

LMAO Shiplore... hilarious!
"He's even got a cool name unlike 78% of all the existing DKs"
And QQ says the guy named "Omenscourge"... Let me guess, former rogue?
Good stuff Ship. Almost made me bust a gut but then remembered that I'm still alt+tabbed and logged into good old "Nightofdeath" and leading the BG in damage. Woot!
me!! Mar 27th 2009 5:04PM

Sorry to confuse you, if i was disrespecting Mundien, I may have mentioned him or you know, disrespected him. He's even got a cool name unlike 78% of all existing DKs.
I was making fun of A) 10 year old face-rolling DKS. B) andI have a DK, doesn't mean they're not ridiculous and unbalancing.
I'll try to type slower.

I'm not sure why we are still saying 'Zomg, all Death Knights face roll over 9000!'. Most of the classes I've played come down to using abilities in a logical order. After you learn that order, and you repeat that order over and over, you can do it quite easily. My Warlock is just as easy to play as my Death Knight.
Death Knight tanking isn't any more or less difficult then Druid tanking, Paladin tanking, or Warrior tanking in my opinion (Although I find our raid paladin seems to generate a little too much threat over the rest of us, so annoying)
Now, as for them being 'Ridiculous and Unbalancing' - I don't know that I find them ridiculous, but of course they are upsetting the balance. Many of us have been playing this game for quite a period now, introducing a new class and a new expansion have naturally upset the balance of classes. Rogue Mage Priest might need to learn a few new tricks, Warrior tanks actually have to compete for their raid spots.
Of course, I'm being unfair to you as well, since I'm ignoring the spirit of your argument for the wording, but you've posted ridiculous trolls as quickly as possible, and most of us are biased against face rollers that post first.

Huge huge mistake on the part of the ele shaman article: The rotation he posts does not account for Glyph of flame shock. Do not use this rotation.
If raiding you MUST have that glyph, and you must be hitting lava burst as soon as it's up, not waiting till the dot is up.
Additionally, there is no "rotation" for elemental shamans, only "priority" and cooldown management. 1) Flameshock, 2) Lavaburst, 3) Chain Lightning, 4) Lightning Bolt. LB and CL are debatable.
otherwise i generally agree with his stat rankings. I personally wouldn't neglect Haste so much to get 30% crit. 25% to 27% is fine, since your actual crit rate will run around 45%+ in 25 mans.
If you can get your haste above 500, your LBs cast quick enough to get a monster rotation of 4 LBs between lavabursts. /drool.

@Doma - Second. As comments to the Ele Sham article said, he wrote the whole thing without looking at EJ, which has an extensive section on playing elemental. This link is a waste of time where the EJ page is much better.

This is exactly like Ret. No we DO NOT face roll. We actually have to manage at least 5(!!!!!) attack cool downs as well as 1-3 trinket like CD's and 1 mana CD simultaneously, and believe me, getting out of sync or having to "catch up" to your CD's screws your DPS up so hard.

@ Gerrick,
"but you've posted ridiculous trolls as quickly as possible, and most of us are biased against face rollers that post first.
Not sure if you have me confused, I don't think I've ever posted first before in any thread, and I'm 100% sure I've never posted "First". I hardly think an attempt at humor, no matter how unfunny it might actually be, when it in fact reflects my opinion, is trolling. But please do find show me, doing this, maybe I sleep-type.
I think DKs were a stupid mistake that wasn't executed well. BGs are a messy nightmare, there's 5000% more plate in all PVE instances now.. It's just yucky. If they toned it all down 30% it might work, and I'm sure that's their plan, deal with the flood then recede from there.
But doesn't mean I have to like it, and can't poke fun at it. I know some very bad players who couldn't top meters with their Mages, or Rogues or hunters are are now at the top on their DKs, they didn't suddenly get better, so sure any class takes skill to play well, but DKs are just too over-powered.

Pink Raid Frame's guide is a good one for those healadins that really want to just spam Holy Light. But there's no reason Healadins can't raid heal and keep up the tank at the same time. I do it every day and its a much, much more fun, interactive, and even effective way to heal.
I've made a counter-point to many of the points they made in the article:

Hey, WI, could I have a word please? FINALLY FIX THAT F*ING COMMENT SYSTEM! Seriously, it is so incredibly annoying seeing comments all over the place and not where they belong.
Oh, yes, and that elemental build blog entry wasn't really useful unless you read the comments which pointed out all the glaring errors in it.
Mohrlock Mar 27th 2009 3:35AM
You tell 'em Zweit!
I hope this comment attatches as a reply to your comment as it should. *shakes fist at the comment system*
There's as much RNG involved in this comment system as there is getting an epic world drop. Of the BOP variety :O
