Two Bosses Enter: Prince Keleseth vs. Grand Magus Telestra

Prepare your spell counters: it's magician versus magician in this week's Two Bosses Enter, as we pit Prince Keleseth of Utgarde Keep against Grand Magus Telestra of The Nexus.
There'll be no tricks or handicaps in this battle. The usual rules apply: assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and damage output, and that they are fighting in neutral territory. We'll allow Keleseth the use of his summoned skeletons. Remember, focus your debate on the three S's: Style, Story and Scale. Don't get caught up in game mechanics and what players might do in each encounter. Consider the flavor each villainous gladiator brings to bear, then cast your vote for who you think would come out on top.
Prince KelesethPrince Keleseth, the first boss of Utgarde Keep, is the Scourge overlord of Howling Fjord and ambassador to the Vrykul. If he seems a somewhat familiar figure –- that's because he is. You may have encountered Prince Keleseth in several other zones, quests and scenes.
- Shadow Bolt
- Frost Tomb
- Periodically summons 5 Vrykal Skeletons
Grand Magus TelestraGrand Magus Telestra is a High Elf mage of the Kirin Tor who has allied herself with Malygos in order to retain her arcane powers. She guards part of Keristrasza's prison inside The Nexus and is leader of the effort to redirect the ley lines in the Dragonblight.
- Firebomb
- Ice Nova
- Gravity Well
- Mirror image: splits into Fire, Frost and Arcane forms
The smackdown
The usual rules apply: assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and damage output, and that they are fighting in neutral territory. We'll allow Keleseth the use of his summoned skeletons. Vote for the spirit of the battle as set forth above.
Remember: no group-tactic or game-mechanic nitpicking, and no weaksauce yowls of "My group's cats faceroll these bosses while we're AFK BIO" –- yawn. Can you come up with a convincing scenario in the comments that will sway fellow readers to vote for your boss of choice? | It's a tie | |

Why use a screenshot of the prince from the Wrath Beta?
WoWie Zowie Mar 26th 2009 8:10PM
i'm assuming she's not immune to ice tomb.
she's dead without help.
RogueJedi86 Mar 26th 2009 8:15PM
She has help. She can split in 3 at any time and nuke away with the combined might of frost, fire, and arcane. Her frost self will aoe down Keleseth's Vrykul Skeletons, while the Fire and Arcane nuke Keleseth down. I'm calling it for Telestra if only for the sheer numeric superiority of her Mirror Image split.
Aubrecia Mar 26th 2009 8:15PM
Telestra has this one down easy. Her three selves can easily nuke the skeletons, break the tombs, and still DPS Keleseth without problems.
That said, boy, I have never seen that screenshot of Keleseth before.
AAron Mar 26th 2009 8:18PM
Gotta go with the CC. Time stop + Gravity well + frost nova = too much CC for the guys adds.

Grand Magus Telestra would win hands down. The Vrykul skeletons would be completely decimated by her AoE abilities (Gravity Well/Ice Nova). Keleseth's Shadow Bolt would be easily interrupted with Gravity Well, and his Frost Tomb would be negated by Telestra's mirror image ability. Not to mention a member of the blue dragonflight SHOULD be pretty adept at deflecting/nullifying magic, even necromantic one.
In the end it will be Telestra's Mirror Image ability which will truly decide the course of the battle, since Keleseth would have a lot of trouble taking down the separate images without using his Frost Tomb, which I supposed has a say 20 second cooldown. The combined DPS would take him down in less than 2 minutes. Only counter he could have are his skeletons, which would be easily dispatched by the images. Not to mention that even if he does take them down, they'll just reform into one mean blue magic wielding chick.
So, Telestra > Keleseth
p.s Did they change Keleseth's model o.O?
p.p.s First :P?

I think thats getting too technical for the fight when this is about style and flair.
I go for the prince, his unison of a strong crowd control mechanism, hordes of undead soldiers and bone armor should easily let him burn down the fragile mage, even if she does make a couple copies of herself.
Kellhouse Mar 26th 2009 8:20PM
So here is how its going down. Grand Magus Telestra will star hard. Prince Keleseth response would be about the same Two bosses bolting each other on and off. Then they summon their MINIONS and do muhahaha and stuff. Undead hordes rushing toward the elemental mages and being annihilated in the fury of their magic. The response would be an Ice Tomb but it will affect only one of the magi. Frost nova and gravity well will take care of the rest of the undead and Prince himself. The killed or hurt magi images of the Telesta would combine back and continue to BURN Keleseth to ashes. The win is clearly after the Telesta.
P.S. She is also hot.
Paux Mar 26th 2009 8:26PM
Tele is the clear winner in this bout.
Rolaran Mar 26th 2009 8:33PM
Gonna go with Telestra on this one.
Fat lot of good the melee-attacking skellies are gonna do when Gravity Well is whipping them around the room like a Tilt-a-Whirl gone berserk.
QTMikeyNY Mar 26th 2009 8:32PM
Grand Magus FTW...
superstone Mar 26th 2009 8:47PM
Telestra, easily.
I actually had to read the description to remember who Keleseth was. Telestra would just gravity well and AoE the skeletons, bust out the triplets and break the ice tombs, and smoke him down.
Hoggersbud Mar 26th 2009 9:04PM
Telestra. She can deal with his adds with her own Firebomb and Frost Nova, or split into 3 forms to take them out that way. Maybe she could even Critter the Prince.
Lunati Mar 26th 2009 9:13PM
Telestra, easily. Her split as well as her gravity well would make the skeletons a complete joke. Not to mention the havoch her time stop would play with Keleseth.
On a side note... the image in the article seems to be from an early build from alpha. He's one of the San'layn, which would make him a creepy looking vampire, not some t6 warlock O.o
flawedsymmetry Mar 26th 2009 9:15PM
Telestra, no doubt.
Squiddles Mar 26th 2009 9:35PM
I don't think they should fight. I think they should get married and have evil, evil babies.
Munky Mar 27th 2009 3:12PM
Which too would be awesome because there would be a foursome every night! And, therefore, many, many evil, evil babies.
But, then her three selves would start bickering and getting jealous. It'd be fun while it lasted, though.
She would win in a battle too. Hell hath no fury and such.
Squiddles Mar 26th 2009 9:42PM
But if they must fight, then she'd poly his skeletons into cute fluffy kittens and her clones would let her out of ice tombs and she would be a clear winner. I don't think she'd even need to gravity well to completely trounce him.
I think he'd enjoy it.
Uberpwnage Mar 26th 2009 11:12PM
Wait....
You can poly undead?
must be another 3.1 nugget....
Nennutir Mar 27th 2009 10:58AM
Mage > Warlocks
sexy mage Telestra FTW.
