World of Warcraft iGoogle theme

More and more people (myself included) are starting to use iGoogle as their homepage, because it's incredibly useful. There's all sorts of widgets you can use to customize your homepage, from useful things like the weather and a feed of the top news stories, to goofy things like games and videos. I started using it awhile ago, so I was excited to hear about the addition of World of Warcraft iGoogle theme.
The theme is pretty basic as far as its appearance goes: A little art on top, a little art on the bottom, and text colored to match. No absurd bells and whistles or major distractions. The cool thing this theme does, like a few other iGoogle themes, is it changes depending on the time of day in your region. When I first put this theme on my homepage earlier today it had a somewhat orange tinge to it all, the art being what I believe is Durotar. Orcs, all of that sort of thing. As of my writing this, it's only 2 PM Central and it's already switched over to the dark blue of the Lich King. It seems a bit early to be swapping to what appears to be the nighttime version of the theme, and it's somewhat depressing in an odd sort of way.

I'll still use it because... well, why not? I was using the default iGoogle theme before, and that's downright boring. As a WoW Insider writer you'd probably expect me to urge you all to run out and use this theme right away, but nah. Use it if you want, it's pretty cool.
If you're a longtime gamer, it's going to be hard to turn down some of their other gaming themes to use this one. They also have Zelda, Galaga, Street Fighter, Super Mario, and Mega Man themes (along with other, less interesting games) available, so this one has some pretty stiff competition!
[Thanks for all the tips!]

me too! I've been using this since a bit after launch. I only use it on my gaming tab though. One tab for school, one for business, my main page, and then gaming. Keeps everything in it's place. All hail Google.

You may have had 'a WOTLK' theme, but it was not this one. This is the official theme just released by Blizzard.
Pretty badass I'll say.

Which warcraft theme are you using? When i searched through the themes I saw several based on warcraft.
Riley Mar 26th 2009 6:11PM

I was going to use the WoW one, but decided on D&D instead, but i may switch back and forth, who knows

I really like igoogle and it's modules - really handy to have.
I have had a WoW theme since just before Wrath was launched, though not the one shown here. I think I prefer this one.
Off to change mine now :)

I prefer my current gaming theme, an animated Lakitu from the original Super Mario ^_^
You can get it here: http://www.google.com/ig/directory?type=themes&url=www.dalematic.com/igoogle/lakitu.xml

Can anyone link to the one shown here? I can see quite a few themes, but not the one Alex Has. :(

I'll let you know for certain (if someone else hasn't already) in a couple of hours when the picture should change. If it doesn't change by tomorrow morning, then this ain't it! :-)

yeah that's the right link. Beautiful Theme too.
Wayne Mar 26th 2009 6:27PM
Anyone have a link to the EXACT one shown. I've searched and searched and searched, but cant seem to find one that looks as good as that.
Summer Mar 26th 2009 6:46PM
The theme changes through out the day, it is currently showing an orange image with an orc, tauren & human.
Go to iGoogle themes, then on the left click on the new Games link and you can find it.

I had the first WotLK as mine but I just switched it. I love iGoogle and I can not believe you did not put a link up for the WoWInsider Gadget.... I always know when you post something new... gesssh you're slipping
AOP Mar 26th 2009 6:33PM
Agreed - the wow insider gadget is most useful
richard.ashton Mar 26th 2009 6:29PM
I went for the Mass Effect 2 one because that will be the other game I will play other than WoW, DiabloIII and SC2

I was using the one made by Shakajuju, but it's all Alliance. Now while my main (who used to be just my alt) is Alliance, I wouldn't mind having the Horde, and now this one's out! YAY! Switched...yes! Thank you!
Keyra Mar 27th 2009 7:15AM
Oh, incidentally...hmm...need to make this an announcement, I guess...so...
Ahem.
BY THE WAY, EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, now...for those of you who have iGoogle set with the side tabs and hate the side tabs and WANT the top tabs back, read on!
Writing to Google won't help. Many hundreds of people have already voiced their disgust at the side tabs. Google's response seems to be, "What are you gonna do? Sue us? Bwahahahahaha!"
So, here's what you do (note, this only works for people in the US, sorry...):
Go to "My Account" (https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount)
Over on the left, you'll see a little house icon and the words: iGoogle - Settings Add content
Click on "Settings".
Under "Language" at the top, select "English (UK)".
Click the "Save" button (top right of page).
You're all done! Back to having top tabs again!
I don't know how much longer this will work, but it's good for now if you, like me, can't stand the stupid side tabs.
