Breakfast Topic: Vanity Items

I know it's a silly RPer thing, but I try to pay some attention to how my characters look in game. For example, I still haven't gotten the Shave and a Haircut achievement on my Death Knight because I think he looks pretty cool and very much like he should as a character and I'm having a hard time changing it, even for an achievement.
Another thing I do as a result of this is do varied and esoteric quests to get gear that MIGHT look good on me conceivably. Some day. Possibly. My Hunter has a full set of black leather armor in case she ever has to, I don't know, join an RP night stealth strike force, I suppose, and a torch in case she needs to lead an angry mob or something. It's a little obsession.
Still, there's a few vanity items I'm still trying to track down. For example, I'm still trying to find a pair of solid blue jeans. Rancher's Trousers come first, but they're shorts and whatnot. Of course, what I really want, I am pretty sure doesn't exist: An item that will turn my Death Knight's Ghoul into a Geist. It doesn't need to grant it any special abilities, Geists just look cool as hell, and definitely much more worthy of serving a Death Knight than the somewhat dull-witted nearly-rotted-to-nothing Ghoul. Uh, no offense, Wormslobber.
So my question for the day is this: Do you have a vanity item that you consider integral to one or more of your characters? Have you kept old drops and quest items tucked away for a rainy day just in case you need to look really good and/or weird? And what type of vanity items are you still trying to track down or would love to see implemented?

I'm always looking for good outfits to wear around town. I'm a bag space ho though, plus I'm a warrior and get tired of looking at all that plate, so I usually try and find a robe. Right now I'm wearing a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39396

Red Pointy Hat from that one quest in Netherstorm - when I completed the quest, I clicked the wrong reward by mistake - I wanted it so much that I got a GM to exchange the reward I had gotten for the Hat. Coolest mage/'lock hat EVAH

Hellz Yeah! And I don't want to have to go Unholy to do it too!

wolpertinger. That is all.

I am a terrible collector of items. I've got a bankful of 20 slot bags to accomodate it all and still leave me a little space for raid items. I'm not even on an RP server! I've got a great Halloween witch set from Skywitch Hat, Hyldnir Runeweaver's Garb, and Rod of the Sleepwalker. I'm also really proud of my "Primitive Shaman" outfit, which is made from the Troll shaman's starter outfit (I'm draenei), Tiny Voodoo Mask, and the re-tooled Mallet of Zul'Farrak. I've got the whole Brewfest outfit, two different Fire Festival outfits (one from before they gave us a special dress for it), and all the dresses and suits from the Lunar Festival. I kept the Illidari-Bane Dagger because it looks awesome and I'm building a T2 shaman set just for kicks.

I'd like to see more variety in the models. Does every skirt have to be floor length?
onetrueping Mar 30th 2009 1:32AM
Yes, actually. If you use the WoW Model Viewer or a similar program, you'll notice that the "skirt" actually completely replaces the legs, except for the feet. Any short "skirt"s would actually cause people to see inside the model. It's shortcuts like this, left over from classic WoW, that are why we can't fly in Azeroth (that and I don't think they want us to see the World Tree zone because it's under populated... it appears that you could originally get there from Winterspring).

I usually keep my Romantic Picnic Basket and Iron Boot Flask with me at all times. As soon as the gear manager comes out, I'll be carrying around all my various outfits I have in the bank.
DeathPaladin Mar 29th 2009 12:49PM
My paladin has the Brazier of the Dancing Flame in his backpack at all times. My Death Knight will, too, once the Fire Festival rolls around.
Because my Death Knight needs more vanity items. Right now he just has every vanity pet I've been able to get my hands on, Dartol's Rod of Transformation, the Iron Boot Flask, Piccolo of the Flaming Fire, Haunted Memento (mailed it to my Death Knight from my Paladin. It fits well with my Death Knight's current backstory, which I don't act out since I'm not in an RP server), and a Happy Fun Rock I picked up when I did a Dire Maul North tribute run (had to kill one guard, since I was soloing it and am not a rogue, blacksmith, or engineer).

My Undead priest looks pretty amazing in her T7 halo and black gloves, the lovely black dress, and the bouquet of ebon roses. That's the only vanity set I really keep around, but I do like it a lot.

-Thunderfury! (looks funny for a blood elf to have)
-The Paladin T2 look-alike from the invasion goes great with the Hammer of the Naaru (with a blue glowing +damage enchant)
....And an entire bank full of old tier gear, and stuff that I got while I was solofarming MC for Thunderfury
ManWithSword Mar 29th 2009 1:59PM
It would be cool if you could customize your armor, regardless of its level or quality, just to make your character that bit more unique. The customization could take the form of its color, and the addition of patterns, something like that. The same could also apply to mounts.

Always carry around my Mirren's Drinking Hat, and a collection of the booze you get from it. I used to put it on all the time and get drunk while dancing during the downtime waiting for raids to get going, but not so much anymore. I've been keeping my helm turned off because 95% of mail helms in wrath = fugly. And having to turn it on every time we have downtime so I can show off my drinking hat just isn't appealing. =/
What I would love to see is some sort of specific WARDROBE option. Some place to store all these clothing/tabard/armor/weapon sets without eating up all my bank space. The Gear Manager is a step in the right direction, so we'll see how it goes from there.

Benediction and a Lovely Black Dress on my Lovely Draenei Priest.
She's a head-turner and a show-stopper for sure.
Nikkonia Mar 29th 2009 3:06PM
I'm currently wearing Stoneweaver Leggings that look almost exactly like blue jeans, as long as you don't mind the slightly lighter variety.
Warook Mar 29th 2009 3:07PM
I got no shortage of these.
Stormsong kilt, for one. I actually named my character Warook Stormsong, after it.
I've also got Ethereum Phase-spear for my DK, and Pilfered Etheral Blade/Ethereum Phase Blade for both my Rogue and DK, who are the same person. (Don't ask, I don't feel like explaining it today.)
I have a Lanterns for everyone, and I can't bear to leave my Brewfest Pony Keg in the bank on my Rogue.

Vanity Items Right, where do I start
My Gorehowl
Blessed of undead slaying plate set
Fire Festival Set
The two brewfest mugs
Dark Iron Ale Mug
Drakefire amulet
Tanking rings set from ZG
Draconian Deflector
Grand Marshals Claymore
Deepdive Helmet
Goblin Rocket Helmet
X52 Rocket Helmet
Torch of retribution (to go with my fire festival set)
Full Tier 4 (which is the pimpinest warrior set from BC imo)
Oh, and my Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood
And yes, I have no bank space or bag space ^-^
Sean Riley Mar 29th 2009 3:35PM
I can do you one better, Daniel. My undead warrior has a whole bag full of left-over quest items, which I keep as trophies of his conquests. There's no conceivable use for them I can think of. They use up bag space in the bank. I don't even link to them in chat because they're (duh) in my bank.
But I keep them anyway – They're trophies, man!
Drago Dracini Mar 29th 2009 3:51PM
I keep trying to find stuff that would come close to making me look like Richard from LFG... I have the hood!
Marie Mar 29th 2009 3:55PM
haha, I see what you mean. Click Marie and it brings up a bunch of stuff. I guess I got credit for other people's posts. Oh well. Nothing I can do about how they file things.
That wasn't me. :-)
