Breakfast Topic: New 5-man dungeon plotlines
So the rumors of a new 5-man dungeon to come sometime before Icecrown, maybe in 3.2 or 3.3, continue to persist. Assuming they're true, I wonder: What would you like to see? I have a few ideas of my own.
How about a Grimtotem dungeon? Let's unmask Magatha once and for all as a Scourge agent. Some quest lines point to the possibility, and it's an excuse to implement a nice Great Masquerade type quest line complete with confrontation in Thunder Bluff. It's topical to Wrath, and it shakes Tauren lore up a bit. It's a perfect idea all around, as far as I'm concerned.
If that idea doesn't tickle your fancy, I have a few more after the break.
Another idea is to create a third Azjol-Nerub dungeon. Let's face it. For a sprawling subterranean empire, Azjol-Nerub feels sort of small, thousand mile drop aside. I'd like to see another section of Azjol-Nerub opened up into a BRD style dungeon. It'd be a nice experiment in bringing back longer dungeons, and it could be a proper large spider city that does justice to all the talk about the ancient kingdom of the spider people.
Finally, I'd sort of like to see another Vykrul dungeon. No reason other than I think they are awesome, and I want more back story. Plus I wanna meet some of the "good" Vykrul who didn't go for Ymiron's blood thirst and evil. Maybe even some of the ones who protected their poor sickly mutant kids. It'd be sort of like meeting Adam and Eve for us Human PCs. There's got to be more awesome Viking giant back story. Don't let it end with Ymiron's unceremonious death!
What about you? If there's a new 5-man or even a new secret raid dungeon coming, what settings and story lines would you like to see explored?

I was so disappointed with Ajol-Nerub in WotLK. After having completed the epic journey through the city with Arthas and Anub'arak, I couldn't tell you how excited I was to hear about the undercity labyrinth as a dungeon, especially one that anyone could do.
But what did we get? A very, very short (and annoying) instance with one of the most disappointing final bosses I've ever encountered. Anub'arak was a complete pushover. You'd think that he'd be some kind of huge, hulking badass that guards Arthas, but no. He's just another puggable no-name carrying junk you'll forget about in three levels or so.
Personally, I'd like to see more dungeons involving legendary characters from the previous Warcraft games or some of the more mysterious sub-plots, like Gilneas, Grim Batol and so on. There's so much left to build from.

I, for one, have never finished BRD. I've always loved it, but whenever I tried to finish it, everyone else said "screw it" two rooms before the Emperor. I like the idea of a giant 5-man like that, just not having to keep going in and out of the instance for every quest.

What I'm thinking for a new 5 man is something like MT, only connected to ICC. Have Kel'thuzad as the last boss, wrap up some hanging plotlines (Mal'ganis finally being made dead, maybe a "Shade of the Lich King" sort of thing). Or maybe an instance in Malykriss that's like a bigger Death Knight encampment/training ground. Perhaps turning Cathedral of Shadows into a sort of SM thing.
Regardless, I'd like to see a future raid in CoT for the Well of Eternity, maybe follow Brox into the portal and beat back Sargeras.

Personally, Karahzan was and still is my favorite raid instance. I still enjoy running it with guildies even if I cant use anything that drops. I remember though about one of the Violet Eye members outside talking about how another Karahzan exists in a different dimension at the exact same location as the one in Azeroth. I also remember reading somewhere that a mirror image of Karahzan exists underneath the original. I would love to see another Karahzan type dungeon or raid implimented that would include either the dimensional or mirror image copy. Also including some more lore about Medivh would be nice too.

Kael'Thas returns, only THIS time, he's been revived by The Lich King and takes over as leader of the San'Layn, who, in my opinion, Blizz did very little with. Seriously. But then again... who has the stomach for more Kael?

The Grimtotem instance sounds great. Its one of many plot threads from the old world that just sort of stops at some point.
An instance I'd like to see is one would be one that follows up on the Kvaldir. I mean, that's a plot thread that vanishes early on in the expansion and never gets touched on again. The seaweed guys just get overshadowed by everything else that's happening. There are plenty of coastal ruins around Northrend they could retool into a Blackfathom Deeps-like dungeon where we can pick up some background on the Vrykul of the sea. Maybe even use it as some foreshadowing for a future Maelstorm expansion and toss in some Naga and Murloc lore. That'd be especially interesting seeing how the Kvaldir and Naga appear to be enemies.

I think now would be the perfect time to reintoduce longer dungeons in the style of...well...almost every vanilla wow 5 man(cept of course Stocks and RFC)...BRD being the best example.
With the new achievement system they could load the place with achieves ensuring achievement whores (like myself) would be running the place constantly and groups would be easy to find. They could even make a hard mode and make it the 5 man equivalent of Sarth 3d.
All in all...5 mans in wotlk we're that difficult at all and I think people are ready for a bit of a challenge.

There's only one tauren in wailing caverns... and he's a friendly npc. Can tell there's mostly alliance posting here lol.

I agree to adding a Grimtotem instance, possibly 40 or 50 level range. The lore implied something was "fishy" about her, but was never further explored.
I'd also love to see some 20ish instances in Ghostlands and Bloodmyst. There were Naga active in Bloodmyst, but not much lore as to why they are there. Adding a troll instance to Ghostlands would also make sense as they are active in Eversong too.
In the 60-70 range I would like to see an instance in Nagrand and Shadowmoon.

CoT instance: Fall of Gnomeregan.
Players need to help troggs and Mekgineer Thermaplugg take the capital city of gnomes so that gnomes flee to Ironforge and join the alliance.
In the instance, we get to kill lots of gnomes *cough*

I would like to see a 5 mans dungeon instance in old WoW.
Why not create an Deadmines sort a like level 80 instance?
Or bring back the old school raids, like MC.
5 man MC, little bit tweaked. Awsome.

I'd like them to open up the Stormwind Vault. The proposed high level version of Stocks.
And I honestly think we will get Grim Batol as in patch 3.2. Blizz has confirmed a surprise raid with 3.2 and with the recent book that came out (Night of the Dragon) that reveals that Deathwing is inside of Grim Batol, I think we will see that raid very soon.

BRD and the original strath were the greatest dungeons ever. There will never be others like them, not because they were too difficult for players (at least I hope thats not the reason), but because blizz has moved a lot of its resources to its next big project. I really don't understand the people that like super easy 30mins dungeon. Whats the point really? After one or two times, it becomes boring. BRD is still fun to run after all these years. The fact that you had to complete it over the course of many runs is what made it great and kept it interesting.
That being said, I'd like to see uldum as the next dungeon, although I know that whatever it is will be some simple, linear, easy mode dungeon. I mean, come on blizz, how about some requirement for thought when traversing one of the newer instances. So what if a few people get lost the first few times their there, that's all part of the fun of the exploration.
