WoW Moviewatch: Ninja Looter
Ninja Looter has actually been floating around "out there" since the beginning of the month. It's one of the music video kind-of-parodies from Gigi, Abandonation, and Decision. Zharkan16 is the animator for this one. It's pretty true-to-form for the "Blood Elf Rap Music Video" genre. (Is that a genre? What should I call this kind of thing? I'm not sure "WoW Rap" video really gets the point across. But since this crew of performers seem to be advancing this genre pretty vigorously, I need to be able to call it something.)
A few things about "Ninja Looter" struck me. First, as far as I can tell, there's nothing in the lyrics or video vaguely related to Ninja Looting. That's okay, though. I'm "down" with the art of unrelated names. I can be hip like that. Second, there's a few lyrics about how Holy Paladins have it pretty easy in raids and PvP. I'm not sure if that's the point Decision was really trying to get across, but I think the Colosseum commenters would agree that Holy Paladins have it pretty good right now.
What really stood out to me as I researched "Ninja Looter," however, is that the trio of performers are definitely building a fan base. This song already has nearly 500 ratings on YouTube, the majority of which are very, very positive. The comment threads are stringing out toward infinity, with the same flavor discussion you might see from mainstream bands' commenters. So, whether or not you're a fan of Gigi, Abandonation, and Decision, they certainly seem to be creating a very solid following. If they continue to be consistently prolific and communicative, they could have a very real effect on the WoW community over the next several months.

Not a bad little skit, but why does the first rapper's volume sound good, the second is WAY too loud, and the third is way too low?
Git'er done...
(NOT an indication that I like country.. seriously)

Yeah it could definitely use some technical work...

I can't stand Gigi's parodies. She sounds lazy? Not sure how to word that right, she just doesn't have that tone in her voice that makes it sound authentic. White girl needs to do Britney Spears' parodies if you ask me.

As much as I agree with you that Gigi's tone is wrong (see the first comment on this post)... I find your racism disgusting. Telling us "white girls" what we "need to stick to"? Really? Ugh.
-Anyone- could do it with a little more sass, attitude, snap, sharpness, maybe even anger to her voice. She sounds like she's just chatting with her friends, but with a rhythm of sorts, and that's the problem. Completely the wrong tone. She just needs to try, not change her skin color.

WTB some rock music vids, or anything not rap or scream metal please. I liked Nyhm because he was funny, not because he rapped.

If they are going to put voice effects and auto-tuning on their voices, they need to put the lyrics on the bottom of the screen because they are distorting themselves so much you can't even understand them most of the time.
The effects work when their done well, but this is not the case here.

All they need is a sound producer and better mics and I would buy that CD.

I agree that Blood Elf Rap Music Video is too long a name, how about taking their racial move Mana Tap, and from there, calling this style Mana Rap
Yeng Mar 30th 2009 3:31PM
Great name, then those of us that aren't that fond of it can call it 'Mana Crap' :D
uncaringbear Mar 30th 2009 6:53PM
While it's easy to criticize them for being blatant egotistical self-lovers, it's obvious that a lot of effort was put into the making of their videos.
However, Gigi's delivery in this video is really, really terrible.
As much as I dislike their lyrics and music stylings, I can't help but wonder what they could do with a professional sound studio and vocal coaches to help them out.

I don't really like Gigi...at all.
But now that there isn't going to be any more Nyhm vids I might have to lower my standards : (
Voodie Mar 31st 2009 4:08PM
Nyhm actually posted that due to the support and responses he got to his announcement that he was done he'll be continuing to produce videos.
