Breakfast Topic: The next Warcraft comic book hero

So I posted a couple days ago about the new Death Knight manga starring the Human Death Knight Thassarian, and it sparked some interesting conversation in the comments. Namely, people started talking about the type of hero they'd like to see in the Warcraft comics. Some complained that the Horde wasn't getting enough representation, some wanted specific races to get the spotlight. I thought it was at least fun to think about, so I thought I'd ask the question straight up: Who would you like to see get front billing in a Warcraft comic storyline or graphic novel?
Me, I'm actually pretty happy to see Thassarian get his own book, but what might also be cool is a book that centers around the struggle of the High Elves. They're essentially exiles from thier own land, now that Quel'danas is Horde territory. How do they feel about the Horde and the Blood Elves? Have they given in to their fate and accepted that they will fade as a race, or is there a movement to reestablish a High Elf culture and society apart from the Blood Elves? How does the reignited Sunwell fit into all this? Give me a series that tackles all of that from the perspective of a wise and patient but still dashing and daring High Elf Ranger with strong ties to Humanity and the Alliance.
What about you? What's your ideal hero and storyline for the next Warcraft Manga or comic book storyline? Is it an established lore character? A completely new character? If the latter, what race and class is he or she? Where do his or her loyalties lie? What challenges will they face? What themes will the storyline tackle?

I think Blizz is overlooking the fact that a Dwarf Hunter named Valgerd would be the best hero ever in a manga.

Murloc rogue FTW!

As mentioned in the 5-man article, Magatha could have some interesting storylines. Either her past or present could make for a good story I imagine.

Please, no Blood Elves they're not really Horde in my book
Axolotl Mar 31st 2009 8:36AM
Bloodelves are aligned to whoever helps them, and since humans couldn't be bothered, they had to allign to Horde.
It's not like the human king hasn't made some bad decisions in the past (Just read about the Defias brotherhood ... I'm kinda sorry as horde that I can't get rep with these guys)

Just so you know Axo, that was Onyxia who caused the Defias problem, not Wrynn. This was clarified in the comics by showing how she would ensorcell certain people and all.

Thank you. I hate belfs with a passion. In my mind, there are still only four races per faction. That is, until Blizzard wises up and gives us goblins & ogres.
I don't read the comics, but if I did my ideal topic would be as follows. Any horde race hunter who kills gnomes and uses his taxidermy to make nasty little stuffed gnomes for horde kids to play with. Some gnome death knights try to stop the genocide, but can't because they are ridiculous and chose frost spec.

Please god let us get playable goblins.
Next hero class! Able to get rep with H & A factions!
epicboyz Mar 31st 2009 11:02AM
Yes to the above ^^^
Next hero class should be a Goblin Vender. You would need to have a lvl 80 toon to have access to the class. They could be faction nutral and start at lvl 70. They would have no real combat abilitys but could perhaps have a oger bodyguard like a hunter/warlock pet. Fairly useless in a fight but they can repair gear and sell regular vender food and water. Also they can train in 4 professions to further their usefullness.

Amen. I'm sick of Blood Elves being everywhere. If there was a book of any sort about them I wouldn't even imagine it to be about horde.

o.o
Whats wrong with Blood Elves? They're as much a part of the Horde as the Forsaken, if not more! Just because they don't "look" beastly like the Tauren? Just because they're not as large and muscular as the Orcs?

Basically seems like your asking for Vereesa to get some love by the manga/comic people.
Bring back Turyalon and Alleria-- Alleria would bring some earth shattering story into the Warcraft lore.
She's lost one sister to the plague, a younger brother is dead, and Vereesa is living in Exile. There is so much source for conflict there. Does she stay true to the Alliance? Or does she attempt to lead the bulk of her people into a new age?
Or even better does she attempt to reconcile all three ties of the Windrunner line, the High Elf, the Blood Elf, and the Forsaken. She has no reason to hold a grudge against Sylvanas, she wasn't there for any of the events of the Third War.
Also, bring in a Forsaken group trying to actively seek a cure for undeath. They've shown that some do with Leonid Bartholemew and the Argent Dawn. Take that story further.
Donaghy Mar 31st 2009 8:28AM
Huh? Vereesa living in exile? She's in Dalaran with Rhonin, and she's the leader of the Silver Covenent. Also I'm pretty sure both Vereesa and Alleria are classified as High Elves.
Shrike Mar 31st 2009 9:55AM
It sounds like you may be mixing up Vereesa Windrunner (Rhonin-Sue's cardboard cutout--er, I mean, wife) with the unrelated Valeera Sanguinar (Varian Wrynn's blow-up doll--er, I mean, companion).
Come to think of it, neither are worth wasting paper on.
But as for your other point, more lore on Turalyon and Alleria would be good, though it wouldn't satisfy the Horde-Alliance lore disparity in the manga/comics.
Matthew Rossi Mar 31st 2009 11:13AM
Problem is that Alleria majorly hates Orcs and Trolls.
"Though they were successful in repelling the Horde invasion, it came at a terrible cost: eighteen of her kin, including her younger brother, Lirath, were killed. Devastated, Alleria sought comfort in the arms of Turalyon, but ultimately, she chose to dedicate herself to revenge.

To the horror of her friends, Alleria came to see the orcs as little more than vermin to be exterminated.BtDP #? Alleria hunted down the Bleeding Hollow Clan whom had so far escaped capture. When the orcs rallied behind Ner'zhul and the death knights, Alleria agreed to lead her rangers beyond the Dark Portal into Draenor to take to gain vengeance for Quel'Thalas and stop the Horde once and for all. Before she left, she had her necklace melted down into three pieces.BtDP 198 She kept the emerald for herself and sent the ruby to Vereesa and the sapphire to Sylvanas, using Verana, her lieutenant, as the emissary. Personally i'd rather see some Tauren stuff, a tauren hero or Cairne's rise to power and how he decided the Horde was a good idea. It would be interesting also just to see some extra lore from a Tauren's point of view on his fellow hordies and such.
The comic could involve dthe earthern ring, cenarian circle, or just a random Tauren warrior with some compadres adventuring in the eastern kingdoms or so.
rosencratz Mar 31st 2009 8:37AM
Oooh or even better in Northrend reestablishing routes with the taunka and helping them fight off the spider folk or Vrykull or so.
I'd love to see Tuanka join the horde and shorter peaceful Vrykull join the alliance.... Sorry off subject there.
MechChef Mar 31st 2009 8:39AM
I too would like to see some Tauren-lore.
But, more than anything, I think I'd like to read more on Sylvannas and or the Forsaken. Basically what they've been up to since breaking free.
