Breakfast Topic: The next Warcraft comic book hero

So I posted a couple days ago about the new Death Knight manga starring the Human Death Knight Thassarian, and it sparked some interesting conversation in the comments. Namely, people started talking about the type of hero they'd like to see in the Warcraft comics. Some complained that the Horde wasn't getting enough representation, some wanted specific races to get the spotlight. I thought it was at least fun to think about, so I thought I'd ask the question straight up: Who would you like to see get front billing in a Warcraft comic storyline or graphic novel?
Me, I'm actually pretty happy to see Thassarian get his own book, but what might also be cool is a book that centers around the struggle of the High Elves. They're essentially exiles from thier own land, now that Quel'danas is Horde territory. How do they feel about the Horde and the Blood Elves? Have they given in to their fate and accepted that they will fade as a race, or is there a movement to reestablish a High Elf culture and society apart from the Blood Elves? How does the reignited Sunwell fit into all this? Give me a series that tackles all of that from the perspective of a wise and patient but still dashing and daring High Elf Ranger with strong ties to Humanity and the Alliance.
What about you? What's your ideal hero and storyline for the next Warcraft Manga or comic book storyline? Is it an established lore character? A completely new character? If the latter, what race and class is he or she? Where do his or her loyalties lie? What challenges will they face? What themes will the storyline tackle?

I'd like to hear about a horde member that DOESN'T like thrall, not an evil character, just some one that feels thall isn't forcing redemption on the horde like he might be able to,
~Pehaps the fosaken betrayal at the Wrath gate could start this?

I'd love to see some more Horde love. I'm pretty sick of humans. They're so boring. The only human I'd love to see more of is Jaina, but that's really just cuz she's my favorite. I want someone to ditch her when she's about to do something, like she did to so many other people.
"Arthas, I can't watch you do this"
"Variann, I won't help you do this"
Someone needs to be like, "Jaina, I can't help you bake cookies, or whatever the f--- you do in Theramore all day".
I'd also love more on Chromie, but I can wait for that until we get to more of the Bronze Dragonflight conflict. I'd also like some more Dwarf stuff, just to see how they're processing all this new information they're getting about the past from Ulduar.

/agree on Chromie. She is pure win.

What DOES she do in theramore all day?

I thought Disgraph T. Dwarf had a good idea...

Erbag. He was the first gnome ever discovered, and one of the Guardians of Tirisfal.

@ All the anti-Belf QQers? Welcome to 2009, it's a lovely year. Oh, and we're still loyal members of the Horde. More loyal than certain others, I might add. (*cough*Magatha*cough*)
Personally, I'm with whomever was clamoring for a female Troll hero, or a group consisting of one of each Horde race (yes, including a Blood Elf. Because it is 2009 and we are still Horde. Sorry, QQers.) We just don't see that in lore.
A lot of people complain about the supposed overabundance of Trolls in lore, but the problem is it's a very shallow treatment. Trolls are generally just loot piƱatas. I want to see the beginnings of Horde 2.0 and the growing pains the Darkspear went through trying to adjust to a new way of doing things. I want to see the first Troll who picked up shamanism (preferably a female!). I want to see the inevitable conflicts between the voodoo-practicing, people-eating holdouts and the treehugging steak hippies.
In short: Moar Trolls, plz.

Gnomes or Dwarves. Preferrable female dwarves because they're just that awesome.

I want to see Putress again. Maybe a line of comics leading up to the Wrathgate and siege of Undercity from his POV

I'd like to see a Tauren point of view. The Tauren are probably the most pacifist of all the races, so it'd be interesting to see what they think of all the fighting going on.

"or is there a movement to reestablish a High Elf culture and society apart from the Blood Elves?"
Judging by the two factions in Dalaran, I would believe that is almost certainly the case.

But, I'd like to see a manga that follows Varian Wrynn's decent into madness and evil, and come out as a solid villain. I honestly think he's going to be the next major "good guy turned evil" in the WoW plotline.
You had Kael'thas, and Arthas, who both stand out as royalty who followed a dark path and ultimately became villains. I am absolutely positive that Varian Wrynn is poised to make the same falling.
Even if by nothing else than Blizzard describing him as "the anti-Thrall"
I mean. you cannot make a statement like that, and not mean that the character is going to be evil.
Thrall is practically the mary-sue of the Warcraft universe. He is perfect in every which way, and not in the "Holy than thou" way that Paladins frequently seem to be. He's is a preacher and practitioner of peace, and forgiveness, and all and all, seems to be intentionally designed to be reminiscent of philosophies that were taught by Jesus Christ, or Martin Luther King Jr, or so many other great historical people.
To have a character that is anti-Thrall, is to pretty solidly define him as a force of evil in the world.
I just wanna see this in the manga.

Oh god, you're setting yourself up for pain here. I want to see Varian go evil as much as the next Troll, but for some reason I've seen a lot of Alliance players defend the genocidal king. It's probably because he dual-wields and has that totally sweet ponytail.
Seriously. Varian as much as declared himself the new rising light of justice and called for the outright extermination of two races during the Wrathgate events. He's pretty much a shoe in to drive his kingdom into unnecessary war, thereby weakening Azeroth to whatever threat comes next. Big jerk.
At some point, what this game needs, is more information on Zandalar. Somewhere out there is a group of powerful, benevolent trolls, who rule a kingdom that has survived longer than almost any other (Only the Night Elves, Qiraji, Nerubians, and Dwarves can come close, and the Night Elves get disqualified for almost destroying the planet. Like, twice). You want serious troll lore? Supporting (or even main) characters from a troll background who won't just be throwaways or bumbling minor villains?
Take us to Zandalar. Wisdom, power, and history all wrapped up in a lithe eight foot package and sealed with tusks.

Not all of the alliance likes Varian Wrynn i would like to see an alliance who tries to serve the world and go against Varian Wrynn wishes.
RalphusAdolphus Mar 31st 2009 2:06PM
Sylvanas. That is all. Get cracking.
Rozom Mar 31st 2009 5:03PM
Personally I'd love to see a stryline of Darian Morgraine AFTER succeding from Arthas, and starting of the Ebon Blade. Sure we've got part of that with the beginning of the DK start area, but I'd like to hear about the "Okay now what the hell do I do" from his point of view. His soul is damned, and there's *apparently* no way back from that, so what do you do?
Then again... I may be asking for something that they just haven't released yet.
Tainnym Mar 31st 2009 6:37PM
Well, some troll lore wouldn't be bad. that or when Gnomes were brought in the picture.
JBurg Mar 31st 2009 5:45PM
I'm kind of surprised the comic hasn't centered on the Argent Dawn/Argent Crusade. You got members of every playable race in them and the could be stories set in Northrend as their forces try to reach Icecrown while fighting the Scourge and any other group that attempts to stop them.
Cleverly disguised as normal Mar 31st 2009 7:29PM
A pink murloc named biggle. I'M SERIOUS!
That or something about a male night elf who's afraid of the dark. Making him an insomniac during the night and a narcoleptic during the day. He could be named Noelif.
Omegan01 Mar 31st 2009 8:30PM
Leonid Batholomew, the only decent forsaken npc in the game.
