That woman is a man, man
Chromie, the little champion of the Bronze Dragonflight, is quite possibly one of the most polarizing figures in World of Warcraft. You love her or you hate her. She's either adorably awesome, or irritatingly stupid. I, for one, hate her because I had to do her quests in Andorhal before they completely redesigned that part of the zone to suck less. My girlfriend thinks Chromie is the greatest thing since sliced bread. There's something you should know, though. Chromie is a man. Well, probably. How can I make such outlandish accusations? Well, have you run Caverns of Time: The Culling of Stratholme? At the very end, you'll see that Chromie's Dragon form sports a pretty thick beard. More importantly than that, Chromie's Draconic name is Chronormu. Following the naming scheme of the Bronze Dragonflight, names ending with -ormu are male, and -ormi are female. The exceptions being those ending with -os (male) and -a (female) which are general dragon naming schemes. Were Chromie indeed a female, her name would be Chronormi and not Chronormu.
Chromie is a man. A man, or a woman who had very cruel parents.

I met her in a club down in old soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like
C-o-l-a cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said lola
L-o-l-a lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Well Im not the worlds most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Well Im not dumb but I cant understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man
Oh my lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Well we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candlelight
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said dear boy wont you come home with me
Well Im not the worlds most passionate guy
But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me
Well thats the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
Its a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Well I left home just a week before
And Id never ever kissed a woman before
But lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said dear boy Im gonna make you a man
Well Im not the worlds most masculine man
But I know what I am and Im glad Im a man
And so is lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

My guess is when they named her they simply forgot ormu is usually for males. Like when they forgot who corrupted who with the whole Sargeras/Eredar deal.

Patch notes say: Characters on the "A Strange Historian" quest are now correctly prompted to find Chromie in the northwest corner of Andorhal, where she and the ruined inn have been moved to.

Chromie is still a 'she', because she's a female gnome. Would be confusing for people that did not do the quest, nor do know what she really is. I think Chronormu is a male dragon, but has chosen the alternative form of a female gnome. I just don't see what so bad about it.
If you refer to Chromie, then as female. If you refer to Chronormu, then as male.

The first 'cross polymorphing' dragon?

typically the dragons pick moral forms for our sakes, not their own. that said, the form they end up choosing is one they feel attached to or desire typically. Mayhaps Chromie likes to gross-game hmmm? Is a little different then the other dragons?

Chromie is that kind of male dragon that the female dragons kind of like to have around to gossip and chat with. The kind of male dragon they still feel comfortable trying on clothes in front of.

Man, woman, doesn't matter. Chromie rocks!

It could simply be someone’s mistake instead of her being a male dragon... though given blizzard’s ability to often use same skins for other people, it could just be carelessness.
It will be weird picturing her as male, somehow. I think that while she might have the personality to go with a small female gnome, it makes some sort of sick and twisted sense if she were indeed a man. That would be something he she or it would do. (Or Chromie could be both. O_O)

What guy wouldn't want to be a small female gnome?

About the naming scheme of bronze dragonflights.
I can't find the other strong declaration of the naming scheme, and only found one on wowwiki.com.
http://www.wowwiki.com/Bronze_dragonflight
In the Culture topic, the naming scheme is that "Bronze dragon names sometimes end in "-dormu", or "-dormi" for females, but frequently have names that relate to elements of Time. ".
The suffix of name is "-Dormu" or "-Dormi", not "-ormu" or "ormi". Chromie's draconic name is Chronormu, not in naming rules. If the words on WIKI is correct, we can't identify dear Chromie is male or female by name.
