Breakfast Topic: Missing features

Actually, the Dance Battle System was less funny to me if only because it reminded me of the one promised feature they still haven't delivered on. Remember the dance studios that were supposed to come with Wrath of the Lich King? They pruned that feature away even before Beta, but it doesn't mean we've forgotten all about it. In fact, this latest gag might've been Blizzard's way of poking fun at themselves for failing to deliver on their promise.
A lot of the features they've parodied over the years have actually been pretty cool. I mean, being able to dial for food and have it delivered in-game would've been pretty neat. I wouldn't have minded a Tin Foil Hat to keep those nosy Alliance from inspecting me in Dalaran (or Shattrath back then). So while a full-blown dance competition ala America's Best Dance Crew is definitely too silly for the game, where're the dance studios? Heck, I know Blizzard scoffs at the idea, but how about player housing? So many developer hours devoted to increasingly unpopular Arenas, and no personalized housing in sight? Hey!
Ok, maybe player housing isn't such a hot idea, but these April Fools' pranks made me think about what's not in the game right now. I mean, a few years ago we wouldn't have considered dual-specs as a possibility. Flying mounts? Preposterous! Of course, the game actually moves forward, and a lot has changed since the game launched. What's on your wish list of features? Armor dyes, maybe, or -- gasp -- race change? A day after April Fools', I think we're entitled to think up of crazy features of our own.

A valid point, but then the wow populace is NOT a unified force by any means or streaches of the imagination. We are a mob with very very loose ties to each other, more like a 'rag-tag' mercenary army (after all we go do 'jobs' or quests for gold and/or other rewards), which is more realistically represented by the mismatched items we find and wear. That said, even those rag tags could get their armour altered cosmetically if they wanted. WTB armour dye sets (made by tailors/LW/BS's using mats from inscribers)

I am sorry but your point is valid but the conclusion should be exactly opposite of what yours is.
Being able to color your armor makes it possible to make a unified army no matter what armor you are using. In DAoC my guild (200+ accounts) had a uniform scheme. If you went out to PVP you were expected to have the exact same colors as everyone else.

I did not think about pimping my mount before, but now, I just want it so badly ...
And also, as a resto/balance druid=> pimp my tree / moonkin
arrogance Apr 2nd 2009 9:21AM
i am so levelling my 30 druid once that feature comes out. the ONLY reason i didnt want to level it was cause i looked the same the whole way as opposed to other players who at least got different gear. druids rock. the looks just get old fast tbh. especially taurent druid cats. worse model in the game imo. stupid pig-nosed bull lion creature thing.
MazokuRanma Apr 2nd 2009 10:33AM
Tauren cat form is just a wind rider with the wings cut off.
Calling it a pig-nosed bull lion creature thing implies that they took some actual amount of effort in its creation, which they clearly did not... ^^

It is hard to call "Flying mounts" moving forward where they are designed to cut player interaction, which for an mmorpg is very bad. Sure, you get to stuff faster (not THAT much faster, mostly only worth it if your a Pally/DK TBH).
Otherwise the whole Chinese meal in game panda thing is a parody of Everquest 2 where you could literally order pizza through the game and the nearest Pizza Hut would deliver (and it actually was some-what successful).
Ouzak Apr 2nd 2009 8:40AM
Yes, flying mounts reduce player interaction to some extent, but they also enable Blizz to generate amazing landscapes that help keep player's sense of immersion high.
Try imagining Icecrown completely land mount accessable. It loses a lot of its impressiveness.
Sibe Apr 2nd 2009 8:45AM
Blizzard produced amazing landscapes before flying mounts and would have produced them if they didn't include them (since graphical power still would have continued). If anything the landscapes look less epic while flying above them. And if players were unable to see landscapes without flying mounts then Blizzard wouldn't have banned the for the first seven levels.

Go do all the quests in storm peaks then tell me that would have been just as impressive as some kind of flat Plateau that was ground mounts only....

Just a note on the great April fools gag that went off yesterday.
Since most people don't enter the RP forums they miss that while the regular forums were RPed the RP forums were lolcatted.
You'd see your post filtered with lulz, lolcats, i lol'ed irl, rofl, etc etc. whenever you posted in the RP forums yesterday.
And I'd want Player Housing. Esp. with the state of Arena's right now. Player Housing>>>>>Arenas

I find it highly amusing that Runescape, the game that so many people laugh at, allows people to totally customize their character's looks. The cost? The equivalent of a couple silver of *ingame* money. Making us pay real world money for something as simple as how the character looks is pretty silly tbh.
Sibe Apr 2nd 2009 8:29AM
Yet people will STILL pay Blizzard to do it.
tallhorse Apr 2nd 2009 8:29AM
A usable item that makes it look like you are riding backward on your mount. 10 min duration, maybe given out by an Azerothian fool's quest, or could be purchasable from a temporary vendor.
Pieces of flair for your armor, like shoulder flair that makes the electric effect, like the Merciless Gladiator's Chain Spaulders. Or something like the 'Path of Illidan' TCG item, but would leave sparkles or different colors of fire depending on which item you bought.
Yeah all that stuff would be cosmetic only but people seem to love that kinda crap. =P
Warheado Apr 2nd 2009 8:29AM
i actually hope that the "pimp my mount" thing will happen, just less over the top
kinda as the joke was that it isnt a joke
Axolotl Apr 2nd 2009 8:36AM
Last year's prank "The Bard" was much better (and a bit les obvious)
But, the bard had some features we now have in Deathknights (although named otherwise to fit more with the class)
I think that some of the items of this years prank, just might show up in the next expansion.
Radiophonic Apr 2nd 2009 8:36AM
Player housing lol. We're not Sims but wouldn't it be great if your toons could have AI?
Sibe Apr 2nd 2009 8:55AM
Radiophonic, gratz on not knowing MMORPGs. Player Housing has always been a feature of MMORPGs since it was released in Ultima Online (not saying UO since you won't know what UO stood for) and since then many MMORPGs have had player housing (pretty much all of them failed a part from UO).
Player Housing itself is at the core philosophy of MMORPGs, which is customisation, stop playing MMORPGs if you didn't know you were signing up for a game that is part simulator. Go play FPS games otherwise, MMORPGs are not CS.

@Sibe
Obvious, assuming troll is obvious.

Guild Alliances and Guild Advancement
The game needs a lot more involving making guilds more than just a friends list and chat channel.
nickyjean Apr 2nd 2009 8:45AM
conservative cloths rather then hoochie momma's would be a nice option.
I'm a firm believer in Guild Housing, with very own vendors or at least a store of their very own but maybe we (guild mates) would have to supply the foods.
Armor Dyes
Every faction with a chance for exulted reputation have a Mount and/or pet. Imagine a Furbog mount, after slaving from the Shattered Sun Offensive and gaining the title it would unlock a quest to steal one of those steads from the Dawnblades. I mean they are just sitting there.
