Breakfast Topic: Missing features

Actually, the Dance Battle System was less funny to me if only because it reminded me of the one promised feature they still haven't delivered on. Remember the dance studios that were supposed to come with Wrath of the Lich King? They pruned that feature away even before Beta, but it doesn't mean we've forgotten all about it. In fact, this latest gag might've been Blizzard's way of poking fun at themselves for failing to deliver on their promise.
A lot of the features they've parodied over the years have actually been pretty cool. I mean, being able to dial for food and have it delivered in-game would've been pretty neat. I wouldn't have minded a Tin Foil Hat to keep those nosy Alliance from inspecting me in Dalaran (or Shattrath back then). So while a full-blown dance competition ala America's Best Dance Crew is definitely too silly for the game, where're the dance studios? Heck, I know Blizzard scoffs at the idea, but how about player housing? So many developer hours devoted to increasingly unpopular Arenas, and no personalized housing in sight? Hey!
Ok, maybe player housing isn't such a hot idea, but these April Fools' pranks made me think about what's not in the game right now. I mean, a few years ago we wouldn't have considered dual-specs as a possibility. Flying mounts? Preposterous! Of course, the game actually moves forward, and a lot has changed since the game launched. What's on your wish list of features? Armor dyes, maybe, or -- gasp -- race change? A day after April Fools', I think we're entitled to think up of crazy features of our own.

I know this is a warcraft site, but I thought I'd point out that there were jokes on the Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 sites yesterday. I thought they were both really well done; the Starcraft prank was just inspired. They're still up if anyone wants to check them out.

Thank you! Those are awesome!

Dance Studio?
Please save that for console platforms and the such. The last thing this game needs is a bunch of little boys dancing together trying to get that new "who can spin the most" achievement? Isn't it bad enough what we have to deal with children yelling "I pwn'd your mom" or "analology's" in trade. No more, put an X-rating on the game and give them a can and a busy street.

Player housing would be neat in a way that changing your race would be ridiculous.
If nothing else, not one race has every class available to it and that would make race change restrictive right off the bat. ...If they didn't restrict you to races that actually work than you'd end up with gnome druids and tauren paladins which would be purest idiocy.

Cowadin!!!!
it would be sad, because there would proly already be a SirLoin
Mitawa Apr 2nd 2009 10:44AM
Now you see, this is why being an Rp-er can get in the way sometimes. The comic in me appreciates the pun in "SirLoin" but the Rp-er in me just crawled into a corner, began listening to emo music, and is currently shredding paper into tiny little bits while rocking...

I want armor dyes, yes, and i also want to name my vanity pets and mounts.

I'd still like to see an Azeroth Comedy Club open up, where players can go and get new /silly emotes. I can no longer stand the dated 4-5 year old jokes that I've had since launch.

I would like to see a series of quests developed to allow us to change our faction (from Horde to Alliance or vise versa).
I think an Orc that has defected to the Alliance or a Gnome walking around the Undercity would be great. Guards could jeer at you and the citizens of the cities could cower when you came near.

I've never been a big supporter of Player Housing (it's always been a "big whoop!" for me), but now that my bank is getting full on classic armor sets, it would be nice to just have a freakin closet.

Old school UO housing ftw. You could totally deck out a house with everything you picked up. Throw that Hand of Rags on the wall instead of selling it to some vendor who'll just trade it for a mere night's pleasure.

Since I felt it necessary to comment on two of your previous articles I didn't like, I feel compelled to point out that you are capable of writing a post that stimulates discussion, and doesn't have oodles of bias bleeding through. (I know this is a blog not a news site blah blah.) You even mentioned the downturn of one your(obviously) favorite aspects of the game, without turning it into a casual vs. hardcore, scrub vs. pvp pro debate.
Kudos.

I've always wished rogues could wear plate and shoot fireballs out of our hands, a la mages. No blinking tho, that would be just too OP.
Beorning Apr 2nd 2009 11:59AM
Oh, did you not hear?
Yeah, that's what the new DK abilities will be come 3.2, Flaming Hands of Doom and Death Jump, so...probly not gonna see that one on rogues for a while. Also, they're getting an upgrade from plate to the new indestructible armor. I think it's modeled after what Algalon the Raid Destroyer wears.

It kills me how many people feel entitled to having the game their way or the highway. Personally I'd like to see a lot of the player base shove off rather than have all the whining. Then again all the whiners never do anything...ever.... they just whine and whine some more... with a little whining thrown in.
Dance Studio is missing... sure it sucks (I guess?). Personally, I'm more excited about the things that weren't mentioned that are being put in the game (Dual specs in particular) than some goofy aesthetic thing. Then again I tend to look at the bright side of things and am happy with what I've got.
Btw, this isn't really in response to the article but to some of the dimwit comments mixed in comment area.

Stop whining about our whining.
Trasken Apr 2nd 2009 5:16PM
/evilvoice You win this battle Hiwa, but the war is far from over with!
Ok... that was pretty tacky =(
But yes, you caught me doing what I hate most *sigh* Good call.

Didn't they promise something like tattoo's to?
*sigh*
Player/Guild Owned Houses, more customization for characters and such.
Oh well, at least we have something great we can do.. level alts.

In response to BobTDraenei:
Having a quest chain to open up Gnomeregan would be a complete waste of time. As explained in an earlier Breakfast Topic post (and in a much more eloquent way than I could do) Gnomeregan is an area infested with RADIATION! Chernobyl is still uninhabited decades after the incident happened. To be fair its only been what, like 10 years at most, in game, since that place became the radiation filled area it is now. Besides who wants another "city" when they could be working on better content, like perhaps Grim Batol, or maybe Uldum in Patch 3.2 areas that have been around since creation but also havnt been fully implemented. And both areas have something to do with WOTLK. Uldum in that it finishes of the Titan areas of:Uldaman, Ulduar, Scholozar, Un'Goro etc. Grim Batol has to do with Obsidian Sanctum because of the Twilight Drakes and the Black Dragonflight leader. Or how bout the Human Kingdom that went and disappeared as far as the game's map is concerned.
In-game housing is well another waste of an idea imo. Why not guild alliances that work better than just our GL's saying we are gonna raid with these guys from now on. Or a Guild Hall were we can put our old Tier Armor and other Accomplishments...etc etc etc.
Have a good day everyone

starcraft 2's terra-tron was blizzards best this year.
In order:
1) S2's Terra-tron
2) Pimp my Ride
3) D3's Archivist
4) Dance Competition.
Blizzard's best one ever is still Wisp's as the new ally class two years ago.
