Two Bosses Enter: Ichoron vs. Ionar

Got adds? This week's Two Bosses Enter has minions a-plenty. Welcome to the ring Ichoron of Violet Hold and Ionar of the Halls of Lightning – and all their summoned minions.
The usual rules apply: assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and damage output. Take note that these bosses will face off neutral territory; there'll be no magic prison wall switches to throw in this battle. Both bosses will be allowed to summon their minions in their usual manner. Focus your debate on the three S's: Style, Story and Scale. Don't get caught up in game mechanics and what players might do in each encounter. Consider the flavor each villainous gladiator brings to bear, then cast your vote for who you think would come out on top.
IchoronWater can hold any form, take any shape... overcome any obstacle.
Ichoron is a water revenant imprisoned in the Violet Hold in Dalaran. She begins the fight with a damage-reducing shield with 35 charges. Once those charges have been removed, she forms a Protective Bubble and spawns smaller elementals around the area that move slowly toward her. Any elemental that reaches her without being killed will heal a portion of her health. For their own part, the elementals erupt for damage and knockback when killed.

IonarYou wish to confront the master? You must weather the storm!
Ionar is a lightning revenant and the third boss encountered in the Halls of Lightning. He periodically disperses into smaller Sparks of Ionar during battle, which crawl inexorably toward opponents and increase the range of his lightning effect.

The smackdown
The usual rules apply: assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and damage output, and that they are fighting in neutral territory (no Violet Hold wall switches, got it?). Both bosses get the advantage of their minions. Vote for the spirit of the battle as set forth above.
Last week's friendly LOLcat reminder not to indulge in weaksauce yowls of "My group's cats faceroll these bosses while we're AFK BIO" seemed to keep the comments in spirit and in focus ... Meow. Can you come up with a convincing scenario in the comments that will sway fellow readers to vote for your boss of choice?| It's a draw. | |

Ionar all the way. Electric Spiders will shock ichoron

Ichoron would win, why?
Ionar will not do any damage while Ichoron has her shield up. However, Ichoron does do damage against Ionar, this means that for each time Ichoron resets the bubble Ionar looses health faster.
When Ichoron does split, Ionar will split aswell. However, Ionar's split consist of five individual sparks targetting random targets. It's rather unlikely that they kill every single add (as they move really slow) before Ionar forms himself up again. Ichoron has lost few health, but Ionar is back in the old situation where Ichoron is nearly invulnerable, and he is! :O

Ionar wins. gonna be a lot of damage form static discharge, since those tiny elementals move closer to each other.
kozom Apr 2nd 2009 6:38PM
Ionar will totally win...how can her adds reach her with static overload cast on her? Also, water vs lightning...hmmm I WONDER what what do better?

Electricity has beaten Water since pokemon
Wulfkin Apr 3rd 2009 8:08AM
Electricity merely conducts water, it is not damaged by it...
This, combined with the fact that Ichoron's shield is an awesome defense against Ionar's sparks and overload means that she will win the day, admittedly feeling a bit frazzled at the end of it.

AoE Electricity > bunch of little mini-elementals.
Honoke Apr 2nd 2009 6:39PM
Everyone knows Electric beats water types.
It's super effective.

I CHOOSE YOU PIKACHU
yokumgang Apr 2nd 2009 8:14PM
You win three internets.

I'd say Ichoron is more of a water/steel type, but it's the same result. Zap.

Ionar wins. This will be a landslide.
When Ichoron bursts apart, his minions are extremely vulnerable to AoE damage... Ionar's abilities, like ball lightning and static overload will shred them. Not to mention that anytime Ionar is dispersed he's immune to damage, does massive AoE damage, and also hits many times per second... if Ichoron HAD 35 charges when Ionar disperses, they'll be gone very fast, and his stupid minions will get shredded by the AoE of all the dispersed spiders.
Ionar wins. No contest, no dispute, no recourse.

Ionar would electrocute Ichoron to the point that the hydrogen and oxygen in the water split.
BZZAAAP *pop*
Caz Apr 2nd 2009 6:51PM
Ionar is cake - Icharon is a pain in the rear. From a healing perspective.
Caz Apr 2nd 2009 6:53PM
Also - electricity does nothing to water - it moves right though.
Kemikalkadet Apr 2nd 2009 8:31PM
This. Ichoron would just ground all of Ionars attacks and be immune. While everyone knows water+electrics=bad, is it the water that suffers or the electrical device? When you drop your phone in the sink do you break the water or break your phone? Exactly.. Ichoron will short-out Ionar and explode his brains.. or something.
Donaghy Apr 2nd 2009 10:00PM
Pfft, haven't you played pokemon?
Kakistocracy Apr 2nd 2009 10:53PM
If you're going to go that route, it's the electrons (or protons, depending one whether you're a scientist or an engineer, I guess) that you should consider, and I really doubt they get beat up from interacting with water. And that's why I don't think the "Electricity doesn't hurt water" reasoning applies.
Oh, and how many people read the comments before voting?

One word here: Electrolysis
Once the lightning starts flying around, Ichoron is going to literally be ripped apart at the molecular level.

ROFLMAO.
Ionar obliterates Ichoron.
Ichoron is a tough job for healers, but from a tanking and DPS perspective, he is literally easier than most trash, and easily twice as annoying.
