Breakfast Topic: Ignoring achievements for roleplay reasons
This is Bedrock. He is what many might call "Achievement obsessed." (Yes, I know, there's a slightly different word most folks use, but this is a family blog.) He's the kind of chap who's run Stratholme about five million times, desperately hoping for the Baron's horse to drop. And yeah -- he's even on his way to the "Insane" title. But among Mr. Rock's tour of Azeroth, there's one achievement that he just can't bring himself to do. Yes, my friends, Bedrock is not yet DEHTA'S Little PEHTA.
Bedrock is a Hunter on a roleplay server. He likes to roleplay, even if he doesn't spend every moment of every day full of "yea verily" and "thee" and "thou." But he identifies with his character, and generally tries to achieve some level of immersion. And whether the DEHTA crowd is a joke or not, he just can't bring himself to do war against his personal idol. Mr. Nesingwary is somewhat a hero for Bedrock, and collecting the ears of Hemet's friends just doesn't seem right.
So, for roleplay reasons, Bedrock has ignored the DEHTA achievement, even though he's also one of the Achievement hounds. What about you? Is there any quest out there you refuse to do, because it just doesn't seem to line up with your character?

*shrug* I did the DEHTA quests on my main, a Night Elf Hunter. While he took the job (being an IC merc), he felt as if DEHTA was a bit off the deep end. See, I tried to model him after -real- hunters who tend to have a respect for the land and the creatures they hunt. More of a Native American mindset.
That doesn't mean mass slaughter of men, but these were poachers. The Nessingway thugs were strip-mining the Tundra for skins to sell, and that simply didn't jive. Being a skinner/leatherworker, he does indeed sell resources he picks off of his kills. But he uses everything off of each one, and even thanks the creature for it's sacrifice so that he might eat and provide for others. The difference here is in healthy, responsible hunting. Not running rampant and annihilating a population.

Oh! When my character was approached with a job to go into CoT: Durnholde, he took it hard. He more or less agreed to helping ensure Thrall escaped (in the name of victory at Hyjal), but it would inevitably lead to Cenarius' death at the hands of the orcs in Kalimdor. THAT was some interesting moral dilemma RP.

I was warned about it before hand, so I won't do the "Eat the pooped-out seeds" quest.

I love how the achievement says P.I.T.A. (aka Pain in the A$$)
Really makes you want to get that achievement... >.>
Damn hippies.

you have a problem with killing poachers? you cant be serious

I don't RP and I almost didn't do them. In fact, I only picked them up for the achievement. I really wish Blizz would just add a second Nesingwary camp and make you pick factions. I'd have actually preffered that to the Oracles thing they have going on, killing insane druids is just more interesting.

It's PITA not PETHA. PITA = Pain in the a$$.

My main never did the quest to desecrate the grave in Plaguelands. He's not the most reverent sort (he has 'For the Horde!' and 'Make Love, Not Warcraft' -- which, btw, is doubleplus awesome to get after being ganked and /lol'd at :) ) but this one was just too out of character for him. *shrug* As far as achievements though -- I tend to just separate IC and OOC. I'm not as immersed as some are I guess. It's pretty cool there are people who are able to do that though.

My undead warrior, Ligradi, pretty much had to skip Hillsbrad completely because THEY MAKE YOU POISON A DOG.

It felt wrong doing the Helmingway quests. As a Shaman, one with nature and it's elements, a Troll with dozens of little critter friends, it felt wrong.
But I did them because it's a game and I believe that in the area where we hit 90, we're kicking Helmingway's ass.
