We hope you got those 200 games, because the
Arena Tournament is ending this phase of the tournament by 9pm PDT tonight. This means that only the Top 1,000 teams will qualify for the next round, and the rest of the entrants can take the season off. The Top 1,000 teams will move on to Phase 4, or the invitational ladder, for a shot at winning up to $75,000 in a prize pool worth over $200,000. In order to qualify, players must have played a minimum of 200 games with the same character on the same team.
Players on the Top 1,000 teams will receive the title of "Vanquisher" for all their characters Level 71 or higher. As an awesome consolation prize, any player who managed to get 200 games regardless of how well (or how badly) they performed will receive
Murkimus the Gladiator on one of their characters. When Phase 3 ends tonight, the Tournament Realms will be shut down for one week, after which Phase 4 will begin anew on April 14. Good luck! We know it might be a little late for that, so... uh, congrats?

Except that in the time it took you to post this tremendous achievement, fate brought the woman of your dreams within feet of your home. And you missed her. You should travel the country speaking of your achievement, and perhaps one day someone else's grandchildren will celebrate the anniversary of your most spectacular moment.

I can't wait for my Murloc...I just hope Blizz will give us some concrete information soon of when/how we'll receive them. It'd be nice if we get them tomorrow instead of when the whole tourney is over...

Our 3rd team mate disappeared from the face of the world (of warcraft) and starting over would have taken too long, sad really - I would have wanted that baby Murloc...

"Players on the Top 1,000 teams will receive the title of "Vanquisher" for ALL their characters Level 71 or higher"
Aaaaargh, if they can put in alt titles, then WTB alt titles for alt achievements on multiple chars, not alt titles for arena achievements on a single char.
Thander Apr 6th 2009 1:00PM
I don't know about alts getting all the achievements, but account-wide achievements should definitely be there. Like an Achievement for each different class to 80 on the same account.

Cramming the remaining 150 games in on the last weekend was a nightmare but I'm happy we got them done.

oh hey, I know you.

I never want to see another arena again.
We had four people on our team, and I'm pleased to say that all four of us will be getting a Murloc. But it wasn't easy, since if you distilled and bottled the hatred all four of us have for doing Arena, you could probably get arrested for possessing a highly dangerous substance.
Four pet addict Arena haters...not a pretty sight. But we did it!

freakin all my teams didnt wanted to return the next day i couldve got the murloc if my teams just stayed together im rlly pissed off i had a 20 win team but thhey ended up bailing on me the next day
Grock Apr 6th 2009 1:41PM
What a complete waste of $20 that was. I wasn't able to get a single team. Never again.
MechChef Apr 6th 2009 3:21PM
This is the way arena should be. Segregated away as it's own entity. PVE does not affect PVP and vice versa.
Jenny Apr 6th 2009 5:07PM
Formed a team last day possible...and got in 25 games a couple days later.
Cut to the day before yesterday and we crammed in 75 games, and then 100 yesterday. /is dead
I suck at arena, but we still won 50% (and got the 100 win achievement) and it was surprisingly fun.
Can't wait for Murkimus! :D

This format is exactly how arena should be (as Jenny said above) Separate from PvE and everyone with the SAME gear (or at least the same options).
A level playing field with the only thing separating people being their class/gear/talent choices and actual skill.
I had a great time on the tournament realm and normally i find arenas a complete nightmare

edit: oops.. i was quoting MechChef not Jenny.. sorry
Cleoselene Apr 7th 2009 4:19AM
Same. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. And over the course of 200 games, I felt like I definitely got better at it.
Too bad on live arenas will still be just as miserable as ever.
Cleoselene Apr 7th 2009 4:18AM
I'll be getting my murloc!
Actually, this tournament was loads more fun than I was expecting. I was always terribad at arena, never had the patience to grind for decent PvP gear, don't play a very good class for arenas. But with everyone on an equal gear level, it was SO much more fun. We won't be getting a Vanquisher title, but we won more games than we lost and my partners were two of my favorite guildies. None of us was talking it too seriously, but we did actually enjoy the competitive aspect of it.
If Blizz made it so arenas on live had the same equal playing field when it comes to gear, I'd do arenas on live as well. It'd be better if gear was equal in arena, and the gear you grind for to try to earn in arena was used for BGs/World PvP. But, arenas will continue to be miserable on live, so yeah. I would do this tournament again if they offer another pet, though. After being so burned out on raiding, this was a nice change of pace.
I would like to know when we're getting our pet/how they know what character it goes to/whether or not it's Bind on Account or Bind on Character, etc, etc.
