Breakfast Topic: Is your guild prepared for Patch 3.1?
There is a lot of speculation that patch 3.1 will drop tomorrow. I'm not really buying into that speculation yet, but the background downloader was active over the weekend delivering up another part of the patch files. That is a strong indication that the patch is nearing, and at the least means guilds should start ramping up their preparation to push into Ulduar. For many hard core raiding guilds this means making sure the right members will be on and fully buffed and ready for lots of raiding as soon as Ulduar opens up. Equally important is making sure that reserves and alternates are available so progression raids don't grind to a halt.
For the casual guilds this means ensuring people are aware there's a new patch and some new content to experience, and getting ready to grind out a bit of things folks haven't done before while dealing with an abnormal number of wipes.
Of course, that's just some hasty generalizations about each type of guild – there are many similarities between both types. Either way you look at it, the introduction of a new raid instance means having to get folks ready and organized.
Is your guild prepared for Ulduar?
Mine isn't. /grumbleaboutguildraiding

I was just on the PTR, and I couldn't give any feedback. Not Alt left click, no minimap icon, nothing.
... sppooooooooooooky

I hope mine is!
robert Apr 6th 2009 8:07AM
nah you lose.
About the article:
We just merged yesterday with another guild, so in terms of cohesiveness, we aren't, but in terms of actually having enough raiders for once we are :D
Meh, hope it doesn't hit tomorrow though, too many families would lose their loved ones to WoW over the Easter weekend.

The "you lose" part was directed to the first poster, , who said First! They removed it now, so it sort of doesn't make much sense ^^

I actually really hope the patch isn't coming out tomorrow. I've already decided that we're not going to be doing any raiding this weekend due to Easter. If it does actually come out tomorrow, it's going to be completely cleared before our guild even steps inside.

... so?

Forgive me for wanting to see the instance before the whining of "too easy" begins.

Ah, I had forgotten that the entire WoW patch cycle revolved around your guild's schedule. Must make a note to never forget that again.
Unfortunately, it really doesn't come out this week: http://blue.mmo-champion.com/1/16137364713-310-this-tuesday.html

Ah, what was I thinking, expressing a personal opinion.
Nokturnus Apr 7th 2009 8:08AM
@Xonate
You are voted down for sounding like self-centered jerk if you are bothered by the fact that other people will clear content before you see it. It is not like that didn't happen with all previous expansions/patches. And the 'opinion' part of your comment must been cut off by the interface or something, I can't see it in your post :)

The article is asking if our guilds are ready for 3.1. I said no, because this weekend is a holiday and we won't be doing anything, so I would prefer it if the patch did not come out today, which it didn't. I don't think answering the question presented makes me a self-centered jerk, but I suppose that's what a self-centered jerk would say.

Really?
Anywhooo...
My guild has a certain drake and his three best friends to kill first.
And I doubt it drops this week, but if it does, we'll be on tomorrow night and hitting Ulduar first thing.
FoxOfWar Apr 6th 2009 8:18AM
We just cleared all of current content aside from Sarth3D last week with Malygos25 down, so in theory we might be.
In practice, we will need to spend quite some time farming Naxx to get people geared.
But our "most often online of the 25man raiders" -core is just about geared till Ulduar. Maybe.
So we will get in there within first week, but I expect bit of a wipefest, so will be pumpin' some flasks out for our guild instead of elixirs, for a while ;)
Tordenflesk Apr 6th 2009 8:22AM
We(The Dead Bears Return, Khadgar EU) are still strugling clearing naxx10 :(
dawnseven Apr 6th 2009 11:58AM
You're not the only one. No worries ;)
MrBlue Apr 6th 2009 3:26PM
I feel sorry for you seeing as how I've run naxx 25 3 times, all 3 times a pug, and we downed KT 2 times and I had to leave after saph the last time.
Axolotl Apr 6th 2009 8:25AM
Blizz rush to release in time for 'noblegarden' ... nah, they'll release it "when it's ready (TM)"
I've got a two-person guild, we're ready for the new lagfest and recipies
Xaktsaroth Apr 6th 2009 8:27AM
We've pretty much finished gearing our people out ready for Ulduar.
A few more casters need their TTT, but aside from that we're pretty much done. I even have a half decent Arms set for when dual specs come out.
We've built up a war chest as well to pay for raid repairs on progression nights. Thanks to the BoE purples dropping in Naxx, we're up to about 50k gold :D
The only real concern is about focus. All content (including Sarth 3D 25 man) has been on farm for a number of months now, and people are getting sloppy, myself included. TBH I hope that Ulduar will be a rude awakening for us, and a return to the focus that saw us plough through the T7 content at a fast rate of knots.
Kassius Apr 6th 2009 8:29AM
MY guild kinda died when half the core raiders got sick of the game after clearing all content in 2 weeks, and quit. so no, we're not ready for Ulduar. In fact half the guild is kind of "meh" about it already.
Catiya of Feathermoon Apr 6th 2009 8:52AM
The farm during the long wait for Ulduar sparked drama in my successful 10-man, so nope! Now we're not, so I feel you, Kassius.
