Breakfast Topic: Is your guild prepared for Patch 3.1?
There is a lot of speculation that patch 3.1 will drop tomorrow. I'm not really buying into that speculation yet, but the background downloader was active over the weekend delivering up another part of the patch files. That is a strong indication that the patch is nearing, and at the least means guilds should start ramping up their preparation to push into Ulduar. For many hard core raiding guilds this means making sure the right members will be on and fully buffed and ready for lots of raiding as soon as Ulduar opens up. Equally important is making sure that reserves and alternates are available so progression raids don't grind to a halt.
For the casual guilds this means ensuring people are aware there's a new patch and some new content to experience, and getting ready to grind out a bit of things folks haven't done before while dealing with an abnormal number of wipes.
Of course, that's just some hasty generalizations about each type of guild – there are many similarities between both types. Either way you look at it, the introduction of a new raid instance means having to get folks ready and organized.
Is your guild prepared for Ulduar?
Mine isn't. /grumbleaboutguildraiding

We are ready for at least the 10 man version in my guild. Last night we got the Undying achievement in Naxx 10. So our core 10 man group is set. It's the 25-man version that I think my guild is not 100% ready for yet.

Locked & Loaded, ready for duty, Sir!

Generally i think there is alot of apathy going around, and a patch will help. Although to be perfectly honest i think this is the beginning of the decline for WoW. It may take a few years, but many vets including myself are starting to realize we've seen everything this game has, and it's time to get back to real life.
On the other hand, you have fanatics like my ex-guild, who are benching and kicking people because 'they aren't playing up to snuff'. Guys, how about seeing how bad ulduar is before you get all serious? I guess that's what a top guild does. Good ridance, glad to have my life back.

Maybe, if people would get it in their friggin' heads that just because there are only a few upgrades available for their mains that doesn't mean it's not worth their time to get those upgrades.
I have an awful feeling our first trip to Uludar will be a wipefest of epic proportions and we'll be going back to naxx to farm up those last few items for those who need them.

My guild is pretty leet. They just cleared sarth 3d (woot) a few weeks ago. I say "they" because I just barely joined and I didn't participate in the kill. They are definitely prepared for Ulduar, I just hope they let me come along on the main team.

They have stated that Season 5 will not end before April 14. And since they aren't likely to introduce all the 3.1 changes into the last week of the season I think it's safe to say that 3.1 will not drop tomorrow.

We're definately read for 3.1. The things to do, the items to get, Ulduar to...wipe on. We''re fairly hardcore, and we've had things on farm for awhile....and showing boredom. Its gotten to the point where we are bringing in alts on runs just so stuff doesn't get sharded, while we are trying to keep our skills sharp.
however, all of us agree that we've forgotten the farming grind. should be an intersting awakening.

It was said on Worldofwarcraft.com that the season 5 will end on the 6th. But you can earn arena points till the 14th.

More importantly, is everyone ready for bugs and lots of downtime?
Lycanthro Apr 6th 2009 12:41PM
The guild I'm in on Dark Iron is ready to go! That is if our MAIN HEALERS LOG ON! Between hacks, RL and mysterious disappearances we've been alt healing the past 3 weeks. So that means lower dps and cruddier heals. tyvm guys.

My guild (Crazy Train of Thunderhorn) has more than enough people (we often have between 30 and 50 lvl 80's online at any given time, often until 2-3am server time) however, having just downed Thaddius (yay team good job) for only the third time, we are still having issues in Naxx, and still need to spend a lot more time 'farming' the easier Naxx wings for gear.
Are we ready? Probably not. Are we going to go into Ulduar first thing anyways? Yep, and it'll be a wipefest, but we won't give up just because of a few wipes.

We are ready. We havn't downed 3d yet, but were doing 2d with only 20 people. Other than that we farm most stuff. I am more than ready to get into ulduar. some of that heal gears looks great.
Wasuremono Apr 6th 2009 1:00PM
No unless some of our "missing" raiders return I don't think we will be ready in terms of numbers and most likely not of cohesiveness even if they do. I really wanted to go into ulduar but I'm afraid we wouldn't even get past flame leviathan.
Bizarro Apr 6th 2009 1:17PM
I do not want the patch to be released any time soon. I have about 3 more achievements to go before I get my plagued and black protodrake. Ive decided to retire WoW if I dont get them in time. :(
Maxpowr Apr 6th 2009 1:26PM
We did an alt run of 25-man Naxx and maly this past week becasue our mains need only a few pieces (mostly 2d sarth or KT gear).
So yah I would like to think we're ready.
Charlie Apr 6th 2009 2:27PM
I think that's the position most upper end guilds are in.
I'm hoping to get my priest to 80 before our last naxx before 3.1 so she can at least get some gear. Cause god knows how long it'll be before I run her through something if were doing ulduar constantly.
Only problem is that shes 78, and she's just got into stormpeaks. I sword to myself i would neer level a character through there without an epic mount, so she's been sitting there for the past 3 days. >.
Draelan Apr 6th 2009 1:50PM
For 10-man Ulduar? Yeah, I think we're ready. Our guild leader has been going over who our best tanks/heals/DPS are, and has already made it clear that, since Ulduar will be brand new progression content, our top players will be taken first. (Which means I've got my place on the team reserved for me.) Of course, this is all going on the assumption that our top players can actually make themselves log on at the same time. =P
As for 25-man Ulduar? Not a chance. We haven't even cleared 25-man Naxx yet. Most of the rare times we run it, we only have about 19-22 people, including the occasional "pug". (i.e. friend of the guild, but not actually in the guild)
Personally, though? I hop the patch doesn't drop tomorrow. At the EARLIEST I'm hoping for next week. Preferably the week after, though. I'm in the final stretch for this semester's classes, and I'm afraid I may not be readily available until it's over. Especially with these deadlines and last minute assignments. =(
Charlie Apr 6th 2009 2:23PM
The officers in my guild are 100% positive it's dropping tommorow, so their getting ready for Ulduar now.
I keep telling them. 3.1 can't drop before s5 ends. And it has to drop before nobledarden, so its either next week (14th) or the 21st.
It does seem like PTR testing is all but done. They probobly could have put in an (or a few) all-nighter(s) and pushed it out this week, but i think that they'd rather take 1 more week and make sure everything is right. Thats blizzard for ya.
AltairAntares Apr 6th 2009 2:31PM
Really the thing I'm looking forward to is dual specs, I'm leveling a druid in outlands, and I'm really looking forward to being able to switch from balence for questing to healing whenever I want to get a group together to run an instance, and not to have to spend the time and money respecing.
Somavian Apr 6th 2009 3:34PM
Here on Kargath we gave our trade chat to satan for the ability to pug. I've downed KT on 2/3 pugs and had to leave after Saph on my other one. My guild (Lost and Found) has 4 members who we usually bring into our pugs, and that's it =D
