DPS is quite variable. I always use what i generally pull in heroics when lfg in heroics, or what i generally pull in 10 mans, or 25mans. You should have an idea of what numbers you'll do overall. Sure some fights are better than others, but if everyone used their patchwork 25 numbers then everyone would be doing 3-4k dps, which aint right, esp when you get to a heroic and suddenly do half of that. I would advice people to use whatever number you'll bring to the table for that group, and don't lie. And don't feel bad about doing 'terrible dps', if you are trying hard and have proper rotations, enchants, consumables etc. (Mr 3000 dps for a warrior is terrible dps I'm looking at you). I can almost guarantee that 90% of the numbers thrown around in /2 or forums are either made up or on such bad data as to be completely worthless except for theorycrafting. Nobody cares if you do 4000 dps on patchwork if you can't live through the safety dance, you know?
