WoW Moviewatch: The Womanizer Song
Warning: This song has a few very mild sexual references but definitely some scantily clad character models.
We've not covered Sharm much before, who goes by the user name taintedlore over on YouTube. She's a UK artist, and has been racking up an impressive body of work. She does mostly parody videos, and seems to be expanding on the machinima quality in her songs. Her early work was mostly about the music, but the video aspects have been getting much stronger as she goes along.
The Womanizer Song isn't about what you might think at first. The song is focused on those chaps who choose to play female characters. The video is light fare, and Sharm's singing is catchy and convincing. I don't have any opinions on the subject, but I don't think Sharm is necessarily looking to haul out the pitchforks and torches on the "womanizers" as much as she's just looking to make a joke about it.
The video itself is great for the genre, though. The fast scenes, quick cutting, and overall lighthearted tableau make for easy smiles. I don't think stylizing the models any further would have been helpful. I do like the occasional still photo behind a moving actor, though, since it sets up a nice surreality to the video.

I need to make a greasemonkey script that automatically hides any new WI posts that contain "machinima."
Kilock Apr 6th 2009 12:51PM
I'd normally agree but this one was worth the watch.

Or, you could just not click on the article.
Dustin Apr 6th 2009 2:12PM
Cause that keeps it off the front page rite??????
Agony Apr 6th 2009 4:21PM
@Dustin - What's a front page rite? I'm unfamiliar with that particular ritual.
Anyway, if you want to truly block it, use Firefox and get Ad-block plus, then select to block embeds. Of course, that will also block any other video on WoW Insider, so you're kinda screwed there.
Or you could do like the rest of us and use that little wheel in the middle of your mouse to scroll past it. Failing that, click and drag the scroll bar to the right. Failing that, use the page down key or your space bar. If you can't master these, then perhaps you should stay away from trying to do front page rites as well.

Look, the point I'm trying to make here is that I'm tired of machinima posts. To me machinima is nerdy and unwatchable, and this site has been posting them more and more.
Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'd be happy if this site never posted machinima stuff again.
mibluvr13 Apr 6th 2009 4:54PM
Nerdy, huh? I think you're playing the wrong game, kid.
jten11 Apr 6th 2009 6:00PM
You're calling people 'nerdy' for making/liking machinima, on a yet you play WoW, and POSTING on a WoW-related blog site. You're no less of a nerd than anyone else here, buddy.

Actually, Dustin, since I stopped writing this post, they cut it down to 5 days a week from 7. If you can believe it, I used to write about machinima twice a day every day! When I left for my new job with machinima.com, they had me writing 4x/day about machinima. That probably would have driven you crazy, eh?
suckeffect Apr 6th 2009 12:57PM
uh... isn't that Lily Allen singing?
Moppentoff Apr 6th 2009 1:21PM
Because all LAHDEHN/southern women sound like Lily Allen. Me old mucka'
As a Northerner, this makes me lol :)
Lemuria Apr 6th 2009 12:33PM
Womanizer has always been my Heigan dance song. I approve.
Faz Apr 6th 2009 12:40PM
Im male and play a female character... amidoinitrite?
Catiya of Feathermoon Apr 6th 2009 12:44PM
She has a very cute voice but.. god, that's a terrible video in the scheme of things. Very boring, bland, certainly not worthy of being pointed out like this?
AyaJulia Apr 6th 2009 1:11PM
I was going to post a comment like this, but I'm usually here bitching about Gigi or some other such thing, so I decided not to be trollish. Good to see people thinking the same thing, though. XD
I mean, she used the same, like... 5 video clips in cycles. Especially toward the end. wtf.
Catiya of Feathermoon Apr 6th 2009 2:57PM
Exactly! That was my real issue with it, the repetitiveness. The video is just like, a montage of clips showing various races dancing in places. I can do that too x_o
Isiis Apr 6th 2009 12:49PM
LOL. looking @ your toonies tits if guys make girls toons for this reason thats so lame rofl.
Eamara Apr 6th 2009 12:51PM
I'd watch the video past the first 20 seconds if the song wasn't so god awful. Not her singing mind you, that's great, but the song she is parodying is horrific. I can understand why she'd choose that song to parody, but even so. Guh. Awful.
strawmerry Apr 6th 2009 3:37PM
i thought this was really funny, i'll never forget the first thing i was told when i started playing wow "girl stands for Guy In Real Life" haha
