BlizzPlanet hosts a chat with Arthas author Christie Golden [Updated]

Sounds like fun, but if you are in the EU you'll have to stay up late if you want to see it all happen live. It begins at about 3am in Paris, so it'll be a late night if you have questions you want to ask. The good news is that the CoverItLive widget logs the chat, so even if you can't make it to see everything go down live, you can scroll back through it later and read up on what happened.
The book itself is due out April 21 -- you can preorder a collectible version of the novel if you want to right now for $32, which isn't cheap, or you can pre-order the non-collectible version from Amazon.com for $16.50. You can also support your local fantasy bookstore and wait until later in the month to pick it up there.
[UPDATE: Corrected the live chat date to April 9.]

Is WoWInsider getting comission from Christie Golden, or something?

I don't think my opinion is this important, I just fail at double posting on the internet :(

You're good at double posting, you must just improve your single posting skills! :)

It's just me or the articles about that book are suspiciously high in number these days?
Nelfslayer Apr 7th 2009 9:33AM
On this website they are lol
extramedium Apr 7th 2009 9:34AM
Good lord they are pushing this book hard. I hope it's a lot better than previous Warcraft books.
Marveen Apr 7th 2009 9:41AM
Well, they can't be much worse afaik. My husband bought the Knaark (sp?) ones and they made his eyes bleed - I think he even forced himself to read a couple of chapters before his will to live got too dangerously low. I haven't touched any of them.

They're having a chat 4 months after the book is due to hit the streets? Besides, August 9th is a Sunday. :)

While $32 is pricey, I don't think the price will drop that much when they make it paperback. WoW books generally cost more than the $6-7 range of regular paperbacks. I would guess either around $10 or even $16 if they do a larger format. And if it was $16, $32 isn't that bad for a collectors edition.

That only holds true if you're buying the books as trade paperbacks or anthologies.
The couple that I've bought as straight up paperbacks haven't been any more expensive than the $6-7 range.

@Marveen
Richard A. Knaak I believe is the author you mean and I personally found his Diablo "Sin War" Trilogy very interesting and entertaining...
I'm just wondering why the difference in support for this book vs past Blizzard books. I don't remember any others getting the love and attention/support that this book is receiving.
Hope it's as good as the reviews are saying, I'll be picking it up I'm sure ;)
Regards

Meh. Was really tempted to order a copy, filled out my adress and everything. Then I realised the shipping cost. $32 translates to £21.56~. The shipping costs a whopping £20.
Excuse my French, but fuck that.
Zerekess Apr 7th 2009 10:59AM
The prices seem to be fluxuating a tad bit. Gone down to £16 now. Maybe if somehow it got down a tad bit more I might reconsider.
Sakinah Apr 7th 2009 11:15AM
I may pick it up as a hardcover. And it's not all that pricey for the collector's edition as most hardcovers (and it will be hardcover for a few months, at least) is between $25-30 on average.
Does anyone but me buy books anymore? Cripes.

I've read Lord Of The Clan's and Through The Dark Portal and they added so much to playing WOW for me.
Christie Golden writes very well and forms wonderful characters when they could very easily be lost in the massive world of Azeroth.
Looking forward to reading this to make Northrend a little more exciting...
Second thoughts I wish I had held off levelling to 80 until after reading this..... Bu**er!

It's only £11 at amazon.co.uk, hardcover too, but would have preferred paperback.
