Breakfast Topic: Where will you be when Patch 3.1 arrives?
It's not coming today, we know that. Rolling restarts across all realms is a good indication that Patch 3.1 won't be coming just yet. On the other hand, we know they're getting pretty close to sending it our way, and Adam asked a pretty good question yesterday about whether or not your guild is prepared for Ulduar (mine is, thank goodness). On a personal note, what is the first thing you plan on doing when the patch arrives?
There are a few goodies coming our way such as Dual Specs and even a free respec. Of course, there's Ulduar and I know there are a ton of guilds itching to hit it once the realms are up. I'm pretty excited about Wintergrasp so I'm sure to play that as soon as a battle's up. Speaking of battles, I'm thrilled that I can queue up for any Battleground from anywhere in the world, so I can actually set my hearthstone back to Dalaran instead of Silvermoon City where all the Battlemasters are huddled together. What's your agenda? Which character are you logging in the moment Patch 3.1 hits? What are you planning to do? It doesn't hurt to plan ahead, after all.

I had no idea Where's Waldo was called Where's Wally outside of the states.

LOL well there is a host of differences between american culture and english. I knew about wheres wally/waldo, as well as a lot more, as i had an american geography teacher. Im sure youll find a lot more the more you look too. But as you say - the more you know the better.
Radiophonic Apr 7th 2009 8:42AM
I'll be with the rest of the players, at my computer, wondering why the realms aren't up, for a week, every day...
AndremedaSC Apr 7th 2009 1:57PM
Sadly, Radiophonic is probably correct. We'll all be waiting for them to make the patch actually work.
But once it's up and running...my lock will make a bee-line for the trainer to get dual spec. My hunter, on the other hand, will be most excited about the larger ammo stacks.

That would have come across so much better if you'd said
"I had no idea that what the rest of the world calls Where's Wally, is what we call Where's Waldo in the US"
Given the author is British. "outside the states" indeed.
Draelan Apr 7th 2009 7:22PM
@bod
Easy there, man. No need to take something simple and get so defensive about it. I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't REALLY paid much attention to Where's Waldo/Wally since I was a child. And back then, I really didn't care WHO made the books, just that they were fun.
And besides, your sentence versus Eight's are just different ways of saying the same thing. If you're taking his as some sort of "US superiority" attitude (as I'm guessing you are based on your last comment, my apologies if I'm wrong) than you are reading too much into it.
GrayElf Apr 8th 2009 12:22AM
Draelan, get a grip...
What defensiveness? What US superiority? You took that *WAY* out of context. Of course he said the same thing - that was the point! It was an idle comment, along the lines of "Ya know...it woulda been quite cool if you'd said (the same thing) in this way instead".
Take some valium, and a 3 week break, and calm down.

My plans are to get dual spec, sort them out, then my guilds running 10 man then 25 man uldar asap. Ill be in there with the rest of em with a load of food buff, chant mats, a few gems ready, and ofc a shed load of flasks.

Aleksandyria, Dalaran (Horde) Lvl 80 Shadow Priest
Argent Tournament to get my new mount!
Galtak Apr 7th 2009 8:08AM
When I first (calm down first haters, it's just a word) get on after the patch I'll be heading right to the Argent Tournament. That is the main area that interests me the most.
I feel I am ready for 10 man Ulduar, and most of my guild is probably too, but with fishing dailies, dual specs and what have you, I wont be too bothered if I can't get into the new raid just yet.
sinthar Apr 7th 2009 8:13AM
Dont worry the 'first' syndrom is for nubs that dont say anything but reference 'First'. As your the 3rd post, you would be pretty foolish to publish a 'first' post. Personally i reworded mine, just in case.
Personally the dailys and tourney are secondary, ill do em ofc, just fitted in around my already busy schedule (RL one that is), and raiding.
Ne0nguy Apr 7th 2009 9:27AM
Same here. I'm gonna go straight up frost for my secondary mage spec and head out to Icecrown for the Argent Tournament.
Ive done a small amount with it on the PTR but I didn't want to spoil it, so I'm definatly looking forward to that when 3.1 hits.
Tamraine Apr 7th 2009 8:16AM
I think I am more excited at dual specs than I am about Ulduar ><
Too much coverage of it -- from PTRs to MMO champ, even to WoW insider -- I feel like I've already raided it ad nauseam. It's a very depressing feeling.
Lord Negatron Apr 7th 2009 10:36AM
You make a great point.
Sometimes things are covered in so much detail , its like you know what to do and expect to see before you get there. I mean wtf, is this not an RPG still? Or is WoW becoming a "console game" on a PC where kids, and immature adults come to PWN things?
Not a rant for i have been a WoW supporter since the beginning and still am, but just saying...
Draelan Apr 7th 2009 11:08AM
I can understand where you're coming from. That's one of the major reasons I generally don't participate in the PTR when it comes up. However, despite all the coverage, you could always have avoided reading it/watching the videos, etc. That's what I did.
Sure, I read who the bosses are (Hard not to know when WoW sites across the net like to put in big bold letters "FREYA TESTING TUESDAY NIGHT". I know some basic things about different aspects of the patch, including the new fishing dailies, dual specs, and the Argent Tournament. Heck, I even perused the list of discovered Ulduar gear on MMO Champion. But for the most part, I feel I'm at a happy median between knowing nothing and knowing everything.
Personally, I plan on grabbing my dual specs, then running off to check out the Argent Tournament, assuming my guild doesn't leap into 10-man Ulduar. I hope enough people jump into Ulduar right away that the Argent Tournament isn't too insanely crowded. (Regardless, I expect it to be packed for weeks or even months.) It should be fun. =)
Lord Negatron Apr 7th 2009 2:12PM
Well said Draelan and you are right.
No one is forcing us to view "new" content. At the same token it, there is a good balance between knowing and not knowing, no one including myself wants to be completely in the dark. At the same time they should keep some things hidden for shock factor maybe? Either way you said it best, if i discover something i didnt want to see before time, its probably my fault lol.
Aimee Apr 7th 2009 8:18AM
If it happens Next Week I'll be getting ready to go on vacation on Tuesday.... Yikes No Rading for 5 days LOL.... But will be taking my Laptop so after getting into my Hotel at nght I can pop on and do a few lil things But will be able to take advantage of the whole thing If it happens the Week after... MY personal prediction is that 3.1 will drop either the 28th or the week after that. That's just me prediction
sephirah Apr 7th 2009 8:18AM

arrogance Apr 7th 2009 8:51AM

Tyeton Apr 7th 2009 5:31PM
Yeah...not looking forward to that...I still haven't fixed all my add-ons from the last patch. Ugh.
Second thing is running off to dual spec :)
