BRK fans post a goodbye video
A little while after BigRedKitty closed shop on his blog last week, there was another post from TJ on there asking for help with a "secret project" (that lots of you let us know about -- thanks!). And now, the secret has been revealed: a few of BRK's fans have put together a goodbye video for the knowledgeable Hunter with the big red cat, and you can watch the whole thing above.
Very touching, and very cool to see a community come together to thank someone who's done a lot for them. BRK also reported on his blog this week that he hasn't left Warcraft for good, but it does sound like the choice to focus on his real life and family rather than what happens in Azeroth was an excellent one. We've also heard, through the grapevine, that Blizzard may be honoring BRK in their own way in the future, much like they did with Phaelia of Resto4Life. We'll keep an eye out for nay Big Red items we may come across.

Thank you BRK Apr 7th 2009 4:46PM
I've been reading WowInsider for over a year, and I've never felt even the slightest urge to comment on any story I've read. Until Now.
BRK is, was and always will be one of the sorriest excuses for a hunter to play this game.Yet for some reason, he was seen as the De Facto representative of the hunter class by many people. For a class that already has so much baggage and so many bad stereotypes associated with it, the last thing we needed was a semi-informed, easily amused, self-absorbed blogolodyte like BRK. BRK is something of a standing joke in my guild, in fact, and not just among the hunters. Players of all classes recognize just how bad BRK is, and likely thank their associated deity every night for not blessing them with a BRK of their own.
During his time writing for BRK and Wowinsider, I believe he helped create countless numbers of unrepentantly bad hunters. These are the kind of hunters who think they're amazing, yet have never even bothered to research their own class, or use tools to analyze their performance. Instead, a cult of semi-skilled, "all-knowing" hunters arose around BRK, with him as their unquestioned, revered King. Never mind the factual inaccuracies in his posts, his near-furry affection for his pets and his frivolous, grating series of videos. Nevermind the fact that he has never had any high end raiding experience to speak of, at least not since Vanilla Wow. Forget about all his failings, and join the cult. It's easier that way, trust me.
So I say farewell BRK, I will never forget you, much as might wish to. Your mark on my class of choice has left an indelible stain that is larger and more foreboding than the Dead Scar, and your legacy will be passed down from terrible hunter to terrible hunter for the rest of time.
Oh the humanity.

Great songs and pictures...but where's the love for Hobbes?
As someone who has a druid as a main but four hunter alts...so long, BRK. You'll be missed.
BRK's farewell Apr 7th 2009 5:23PM
Sorry to point out the obvious, but BRK never said he was going to stop playing. He never said he was going to stop blogging. He never even said he was canceling his account.
Everyone is acting like he's going away for good. I don't think he is. Why? Because he never said he was.
Also, @Thank you BRK, your post would have been great had it not been so vague. You have a true gift for using many words to say nothing.

I was one of the lucky ones to have made it in the video (3:46ish, with all the spirit beast goodness.)
I will most definitely miss his podcasts, his joining of the WI podcasts, videos, project lore, everything, but RL > WoW, and I wish him the best.

Mmm trolling. Really, is this needed at all? Why knock a community coming together to say farewell to their favorite blogger? Take the ill will somewhere else.

I was truly cut out of this affair, as I sent the e-mail in to the registered mailing address long before the deadline, and never received the project correspondence until I saw "oh it's been made into a video". While there was a 1/3-1/4 chance of me posing with my frostsaber being featured, I feel a bit gutted I missed out. I'm planning on sending mine in independently to show my appreciation to The God of Hunters.

You shouldn't feel offended. TJ said she couldn't fit everything in.
She also said that she will be forwarding all videos, screenshots and messages to BRK regardless of the main video.
BRK will see your message no matter what which is the important part.

I cried. I will miss BRK.

From a Horde Hunter to an Alliance Hunter: it would have been an honour to hunt along you.
Much respect for your decision to focus more on your family.
