Around Azeroth: One down, many to go
Pettibone of <Alliance United> on Anub'arak writes in, "I've titled this picture, "A Warrior Contemplates His Actions." I snapped this last night after beating Onyxia. My guild is a social guild, so this is technically the first raid I've ever completed - I know, so lame. Anyway, I wanted to document and immortalize this monumentous occasion. Enjoy!" Hey, Pettibone, everyone's got to start somewhere. Although if you keep contemplating your actions after killing a boss, you're going to start thinking of yourself as a mass murderer fairly quickly. "Hmm, why did I kill this troll again? Well, a dude in a city offered me a couple of badges and some cash if I brought him part of his corpse. Hey, wait a minute ..."

Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Noob question of the day, can warriors solo Ony now?
Mannakae Apr 8th 2009 11:08AM
Not really. I'm a lvl 80 prot warrior. I can 2 man with the help of my good friend Minimorc (resto druid) but that just takes friggin forever.
Errorah Apr 8th 2009 11:00AM
Not sure Zayd, i 2maned it the other day on my druid with a mage but the time she is in the air is just way to long even for a mage so i dont know that a warrior can do that solo.

I wish they'd change old raid so we truly could solo them - and not have to be in a raid group to enter. At the time sI play on my server, finding someone other than a total stranger to raid group with is tricky.
Anyone got any sneaky tactics to get round the raid group requirement?

if they have avoidance, a way of regening lost life, and some dps they can, the only classes i haven't heard of soloing ony are rogues and mages

Try this: a mage has two of the Tier 3 gear and specced arcane with 2/2 arcane flows. Subtract a minute from the gear and two minutes from arcane flows. Evocation every minute.
The evocation glyph gives 60% health back as well as mana.
I'd say as long as someone is current Naxx geared they could do it, even without two pieces of T3. As usual, practice and knowledge of the fight are the two main keys here. The hardest part, I believe, would be the whelps.

There was a "Guide to soloing Onyxia" posted on EU mage forums few months ago.

ATM, I know Druids, Pallys, Shammys, Warlocks and DKs can solo Ony. Not sure about Priests, but they probably could. Hunters and Warriors might be able to, but I doubt Rogues and Mages can.

Mages can solo Ony, but unlike most classes they have to spec and glyph for it. Now Ony isn't worth the cost of respeccing so thats why you won't see many mages doing it unless they're in need of showing off. Rogues still can't from what I heard.

Yeah, after poking about the internets, it seems Rogues are the only one who can't.
The cool thing is, as a Warlock, I could solo Onyxia with my Affliction raiding spec. The only talent that you need that normal raiding specs don't have is Fel Concentration (interruption resistance for Drain Life), but I have that anyway for soloing.

Gratz Pettibone. Ony was my guild's first raid kill. I have very fond and some not so fond memories of the work to get her down. While the quest chain to get the attunement was long and difficult, it was filled with lore that's lost now. But I do NOT miss following Marshal Windsor through BRD for the 30,000th time. Now following him through Stormwind was another matter. There should be an achievement for those of us who did that attunement and also for those who went through the steps to get our UBRS key which was vitally necessary to finish the Ony attunement chain. While I understand making her accessible to all, I just wish the fight had not been so nerfed. I have not checked. Can you do the attunement quests that started with "A Crumpled Note" or has that section been completely removed?

Yeah mages can solo Ony, 2 minute evocation = GG.
I tried soloing her on my fury warrior last week. For the most part I can keep my health up to about full, but when I get into the second air phase I just take too much damage.
