WoW Moviewatch: Das Strafgericht in Naxxramas
Warning: Subtitles are in German. My amateur attempts at Google translation revealed no naughty words, but I could be wrong. The soundtrack is music only, but there are words that flash on the screen. If a coworker happens by your screen, and happens to read German, and the words happen to be innuendo, then this might not be completely work safe.
Das Strafgericht in Naxxramas was posted on Myndflame by Petunia. It is, in essence, a quick romp through Naxxramas, involving a bunch of cool scenes and kill shots. In that sense, this video isn't groundbreaking. However, it's a got a couple stylistic things going for it that I wanted to point out.
First, the opening scene is pretty neat. Members of a guild are hanging out on the beach and having fun. Their day in the sun is interrupted by visitors. The guild jog into a nearby shack for a Superman moment, dressing up in their finest tier gear and weaponry to do battle. I found this opening lighthearted and amusing. It's also notable in that it provides in-character motivation for the guild to go do battle in Naxxramas. Many of these highlight videos lack that kind of thing, and I think the inclusion makes Petunia's work stand out.
More importantly, the video itself is clean and concise. There aren't five minute stretches of people mashing their DPS buttons, or of a tank standing in front of the boss analyzing the boss's hygiene. It's just a few quick shots from each fight, before moving on to the next. It's fast, precise, and the video itself is pretty. What else could you want?
If you have trouble with the video player, you can check out the video here.

No naughty words at all. I have had 5 years of German lessons at my high school and they are just explaining the story nothing. I liked the video although i didnt find the 2 parts are connected wich each other.

Yep, I agree. The two parts flowed rather oddly, but I think the overall idea was good.

I loved the music selection. Foo Fighters FTW!

The 'Straight to Hell' scene is inspired by a popular German comedy film. :P
But I don't find the video special, only the intro is amusing. :)

Really enjoyed that video - very nice editing and appropriate effects.

basically the stuff in the beginning is "hey, come in, the water's great!"
"ok, let me go change. ...what the-?! omg, undead! run!" then they run around screaming things like "women and children first" "save yourselves" etc.. then someone says "pull yourselves together. battle formation!" then they call in reinforcements. that's pretty much it.

It's so nice to see some of the bosses die so close up. I never really pay attention because I'm so focused on the fight. Thad is definitely the coolest. Nice vid.

I really liked this one. The beginning was cute, but the action shots was where the videography shined. I'm wondering how they got a few of those shots (like the camera being so high up and looking from the side as they leaped down into Gluth's room) and really enjoyed seeing the boss' death animations. Like Ansky, I'm usually so focused on my action bars and cooldowns (or other people's health bars) that I miss the death animations completely.

The video was a lot fun. They did a good job editing the raid content; speeding it up and slowing it down to emphasize the exciting parts. They were some great angles taken as well. Overall, the film was smooth, light-hearted and had a lot of personality. Probably the best raid video I have yet to see.

Agreed on all points, really gorgeous work. The beginning set a nice story to 'why even bother going to naxx' and gave the characters some personality. I liked the actual raid scenes as well. Very well put together.

Very well edited, especially while in Naxx. One of the few gameplay videos I've sat all the way through.

Um...
...okay???
Don't get me wrong, the choice of camera angles was great, the music fit insofar as the image placement vis-a-vis the tempo and feel, but the words of the music didn't seem to really fit. Then again, the creator is German, so it's possible he/she (I'm assuming "she" with a name of Petunia, but this IS WoW...) perhaps didn't understand the lyrics but chose it instead for its feel? :: shrug ::
The beginning vs. the battle itself didn't mesh well, though the two flowed nicely by themselves.
I loved the "run the mounts over the ghouls and smoosh them" bit!
All in all, I can't really say that I "enjoyed" the video, but it is definitely one of those train-wreck scenes where you can't take your eyes away from the carnage. Strange visuals and imagery, but it seemed to "work" overall. I'd be interested in seeing more from Petunia.
