Breakfast Topic: A feeling of dread
There are a lot of great features coming our way in Patch 3.1, from dual-specs, a massive raid dungeon with difficulty levels you can toggle, an entire event in Icecrown... Blizzard has called it their most ambitious content patch ever. And from the size of it, it looks like they weren't kidding. So even though sometimes we wish some things were added to the game, there are things that probably should never see the light of day.
I mean, the Tempest Keep dance-off is obviously a joke, but I'm sure I don't ever want to see it in-game. As much as I know the change to Spiritual Attunement actually works better for the class, there was a point where I wish they never implemented it. Or even -- argh -- the bubble-breaking Shattering Throw. But these things are actually really good changes that will improve gameplay. So here we go... what feature in Patch 3.1 are you dreading the most? To be honest, I think everything's going to improve the game, but not everything will be rosy for everyone. I mean, I'm sure more than a few Death Knights will miss Shadow of Death, right? Engineers will miss the burst of the Lightning Generator (sorry, Arena guys...). Is there anything you're not looking forward to in the inevitable patch?

That sounds like inflation. Sounds like WoW needs more money sinks. WoW tax day.
Eternauta Apr 9th 2009 11:48AM
My server's economy is ok at the moment.
Please don't make more money sinks.

I'm looking forward to that one! I've been collecting raid consumables in anticipation.

Things are going to get more expensive because there is an incredible amount of new money created with very little taking money out of the game to balance things. It's the same reason why countries don't just print out a trillion new dollar bills to cover the debt.
There are a few ways to fix the problem, of course. They could make vendors the only way to get necessary items, they could penalize deaths with gold loss, or they could add something that people are liable to willingly throw money at.
If Blizzard implemented an in-game casino (for instance) with the same sort of odds/payout as a Vegas casino, and then further incentivized it with tokens used to buy cosmetic items (tabards, mounts, pets, clothing, toys) and with titles, I imagine that many players would flush gold back out of the economy voluntarily, and in largish amounts.

I am raged at the fact that Blizzard is nerfing lots of stuff relating to tradeskills - considering that in WoW that is already substandard compared to competing MMOs.
Especially my favourite timespender - fishing.
And secondly i frown upon the adding of easy homecity reputations through the new Tournament.
I was realy proud of the Ambassador title on my 1y old lowbie main char.

I play a death knight and one thing I always liked was playing a ghoul.. it reminded me of the scoruge invasion 2.0 and I do PRAY to the Blizzard devs they will create a Trinket that if a Death Knight is killed and rezzed by another Death Knight they will remain a Ghoul until death again.
It might not have alot of practicalities(?) But I would love to run around chasing after low level players with my slow as heck ghoul like the scourge invasion.. I just miss being a ghoul so much allready with the reduced timer...

Last week I realized I have a chance to get the plagued proto-drake, but I fear it's too late already.
I've done Sarth 3D and Undying, 6mn Malygos should be done this week, but I still have a lot of crappy achievements to get in Naxx and all the 8-man raids to do.
So what I dread the most is the patch itself !

The major changes to the Druid Tanks. I wonder if anyone is going to be playing a druid tank after the patch.
Futue Apr 9th 2009 8:18AM
I will! :)
Fun patch with druid, i'm resto atm and dual-spec'in bear tank
lolz

The change to swipe is a plus, and as a paladin (the tanks with the lowest health pools) but the ability to be block capped, dont fret so much.
From a healers perspective, I'm kind of excited about the bear change, it looks like it has the potential to smooth out your incoming damage and allows you to add threat (with crit and ap) at the same time you add mitigation.
Keep your head up!
BillDoor Apr 9th 2009 8:40AM
Having tested them, they're all positive changes. Welcome your new bear overlords.
FireStar Apr 9th 2009 9:30AM
I agree i'm excited about the druid changes inc. I'll be doing bear/tree spec too. I've already been stockin up on crit and not forgetting about AP. More dmg = more mitigation? yes please. No target swipe? Yes!
Pine Apr 9th 2009 9:56AM
I won't argue the mechanics of the changes, but the aesthetics and lore behind Savage Defense does not sit well with me. The whole appeal to the bear (Besides being a freaking bear!) was it seemed much more physical rather than magical in its mechanics.
I'm having a hard time getting my head wrapped around how a bear magically forms a shield around itself.
Mitawa Apr 9th 2009 10:49AM
I can't say that I like the look of the "bear shield" though I haven't tried it.
And I just want to throw this out there: Any fight that stuns, knocks back, or otherwise prevents you from attacking... No mitigation while incapacitated -and- changing Primal Tenacity to work only in cat form...
May there never be a stun fight again or druids are off the roster.

Simpsons Quote FTW!
But as you know, even our new bear overlords are no match for the real hero, the inanimate carbon rod.
VSUReaper Apr 9th 2009 1:30PM
I'm dreading the fact that the kity druid in my guild is going to tank in 3.1 and they are asking me (the current MT) to go respec to arms or fury....
Wasnt the DK that took my job, but the kitty-cat :(
ROB13 Apr 9th 2009 8:14AM
True, engineer's are losing that boost from the Lightning Generator, but in the last build we got a nice little buff to our hand Rocket.
" * Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket now deals 1440 to 1760 Fire damage (Up from 1035 to 1265), cooldown lowered from 1 min to 45 sec."
Not bad, not that bad at all. Not going to replace our Lighning but still, lower cool down and more damage? Yes please.
peagle Apr 9th 2009 8:56AM
Wish I could agree with you, but this novelty enchant is still worthless.
Magius Apr 9th 2009 12:32PM
Only worthless if it still resets the swing timer... well, does it?
*crosses fingers*
