Blizzard S.A.S. (France) to publish WoW in the EU

From April 14th (that's this Tuesday), Blizzard Entertainment Inc. (USA) will no longer publishing the game in Europe. Pause for dramatic effect. Rather that will be done by a new European arm of the company, Blizzard S.A.S. (France). The email itself is basically a courtesy -- after all, you wouldn't actually cancel your account just for an admin change, would you?
Personally I think this a great move, it means that we, the European players of World of Warcraft, are finally being recognised as the legion we are. We're a separate territory (as should be obvious from Blizzard's European job site) and proud of it, it's just nice for it all to be official.

Napoleon was Siccilian(italian) by origin so that doesn't count

Gotta love it when you touch that one little tiny nerve, and someone SCREAMS. :grins:
To the French citizens who play Wow...every one of you I've met is a decent, caring player, and you may feel free to chop George W. Bush into tiny pieces, in response.
I won't apologize for the comments, though...especially about the Dauphine. I've driven one...howsoever briefly.
The new Megane, however, might be worthy of rewarding penance.

Im glad that we got rid of the americans now and have the french ( im not french, im german).
wtf is you peoples problem with "the french lost everything". are you retarded or what? example vietnam: oh yeah, and the us didnt commit warcrimes there, shooting thousands of innocent people, burning them with napalm and destroying the environment with agent orange.
or wait, first gulf war, you guys were supposed to win that as well, instead, 10 years later g dub has to go back in and finish what his daddy started and got you into a mess that is taking even longer than world war 2.
so wh dont you kindly get of your high horse and stfu.

I declare this discussion lost due to misdemeanor of Godwin's Law.
It's not yet comparing someone to nazi's but using war history and inaccurate metaphors to generalize upon a country and it's inhabitants.
The french are weird, weird but wonderful.

I would rather we be on joined servers between the US and the EU. This motion just herds us into our pen like good little sheep, same with the U.S. players led into theirs. Bleat, little sheep, bleat.

Hey, does this mean I can earn honour now instead of honor and use The Armoury istead of The Armory? :)

See, I'm not really convinced this is necessarily going to make a blind bit of difference.
We have no real evidence that Blizzard Europe has any real autonomy from the US operation, they're certainly unlikely to be forking the codebase and going off to develop a proper en-GB version (as nice as that might be).
My suspicion is that this is going to be a change that results in Blizzard being liable for less tax, or being able to claim better subsidies/offsets, or somesuch.

Heh, people from nation that was stupid enough to elect G.W. Bush as their president and 4 years later do it again certainly shouldn't be mocking France anytime soon.
Trasken Apr 12th 2009 10:21PM
Someone who's stupid enough to comment on something they don't even understand shouldn't be making comments.
You can insult the goverment, but if you had any idea how the elections here in the States work then you wouldn't have shoved your foot in your mouth.
The second time Bush took office he had lost the majority vote, yet we have the electoral college which doesn't necessarily follow the American public mindset. Hence Bush was elected into office even though the majority of the American population that voted was against it.

I've always wanted to travel the world and learn about different cultures yet I really begin to wonder sometimes if it's worth the time and money to do so when you come across ignorant people. We got 'em here in the US just as well as >>every country
Trasken Apr 12th 2009 10:30PM
in the world has them. I've come across idiots from all over the world.
Thankfully though, I've also met some really great people from various nations / cultures / religions. They're the reason I even try to travel.
It kills me when fellow Americans act (stupidly) with such aggression against other nations when they're descended from them in some way. Heck, my last name is French (it was a huguenot name) but my mothers maiden name is German. To me, it's like attacking a parent.
It also annoys me that ignorant people in those nations act like Americans are the bad people. For the most part, our ancestors left those countries because of something wrong with those nations. I know my dads side left because of persecution. My mothers side left because of World War II. There was a revolution for a reason =/
