Official Ulduar cinematic revealed

The first thing that struck me is the new face on Jaina. It looks... unpleasant. That's just me, though! It might just take some time to get used to it. Beyond that, the trailer is very very cool, and keeps the Alliance/Horde conflict in the forefront despite the departure from it for the raid zone. It reinforces my thoughts that Varian's hatred of the Horde is never going to be repaired until Garrosh is out of the picture. It also displays that the war on Ulduar isn't being supported by either the Horde or the Alliance: We're in this thing on our own. I also seem to hate Rhonin much less when Blizzard is writing his dialogue.
Thanks to everyone who wrote in about this!

I don't think blizz has perfected their "messes with character's faces to give the illusion that they are talking and making facial expressions" technology.
Seriously, Jaina's face gets effed with so much in that trailer that she looks like a different person in every shot.

Hmmm Varian spec'ed Arms for 3.1 it seems, and Garrosh is running 2 one handers, most likely in an arms fury hybrid. Is TG dead? :P

Loved the trailer, probably the best patch trailer imo, though i thought sunwell was great. Jains and varian ruined it for me though. I just cant stand varians face, throws me off

Eh, Wrynn still seems like his normal xenophobic self in the trailer. Granted you can understand his motivation behind his hatred for the Orcs, but it is still one of those things that bothers me about this game. The two factions are supposedly facing these ages old evils on their own and yet some of them continue to fight for the same few resources in Arathi Basin or the Eye of the Storm? Now seems like the perfect time to put aside these petty differences and fight together to repel the horrors that are plaguing the lands. Pool your resources to fight as one instead of splintering amongst yourselves.
Then again, maybe that's why it's called World of Warcraft. When we're not fighting the big bad, we just need to fight one another. Decent trailer. Gets me excited for the new raid and advances the story somewhat. Still not as cool as the unveiling of BT, though.

Garrosh : I thought I smell the stench Alliance pigs!
Stares squarely at Varian, unseathes two 1h axes
Varian : You want MY BLOOD!
Unseathes 2h sword
"HE'S MINE!!"
FIGHT!
I wish Thrall didn't have to always have his mouth open like that, and I thought Jaina looked fine, better than the barbie doll look of the usual Human chicks for sure.

Ok the human dude is Rhonin, current leader of the Kirin'tor

My .02 on the trailer:
Looked good and got me really hyped up about this. It set the scene for the raid, and also propelled the story of Varrian VS the Horde and how Jaina is honestly the only thing keeping the Alliance (specifically Stormwind) from saying screw Icecrown, burn Org to the ground.
Jaina's face looks... odd. I cant put my finger on it, but there is something about it that just makes me not like the face....
Rhonin looks very fleshed out, and not, as someone else said, another Mary-Sue with a shallow background.
Garrosh is your typical Horde Orc, and its not surprising in the least considering the fact he is a Hellscream.... but I was still a little disapointed over his attitude/actions. It just seemed so stereotypical....
Thrall looks like hes whipped.... he just /sigh at Garosh and Wrynn and sat back and watched. Maybe hes starting to get tired of wearing lvl 40 gear when everyone else is getting epic'd out??? (i.e. update his gear/model a little... I know hes wearing Doomhammer's plate and all, and its important to him... but come on! He looks so damn wimpy compared to Wrynn and hes supposed to be the most powerful person in the Horde??!!??)
Wrynn.... where to start... We already knew he was going to be uber emo about the whole being a gladiator/slave for the Orcs, but to sit there and just ignore the fact that the Horde got chased out of UC for a little time b/c they got betrayed as well? "We lost more heros that day at the Wrathgate" comment just made me /facepalm. So what, you lost a central character (granted hes a lil older) but so did the Horde. Sure, we dont have exact casualties list to compare, but still... its not like the Horde lost no one...
Then there is his face. I'm so HAPPY they didnt use a generic model for his face. but the one they gave him makes him look like hes constipated and he has some saran-wrap smushing his face or something. Kinda like the comment about Jaina, there is just something not gelling with his face.
I sincerely hope the leader of the Alliance can get his shit together, b/c if hes going to get provoked by a little kid like Garrosh, then the Alliance really is made up of 10 year olds.
In conclusion, I enjoyed the video even though some things struck me as a little odd. Looking forward to the patch now :D

That looks epic.

Hmmm...Alliance are still self centered pussies? Looks that way. VW tried to act like he was a tough guy though.
I see that blizz is trying to hype up some of the periphery updates for us non-raiders, but other than that why should I care about ulduar?
At least I can still stack clams!
Looter Apr 14th 2009 10:17AM
Garrosh even knocked down Jaina on the floor when he rushed at Wrynn! :O
Also, for such a mage as Rhonin to cast so trivial spell (the one that stopped the fight) for 3 seconds?!Yeah,it was because of his remark,it would be stupid to see him shouting without doing nothing to stop them but...
Otherwise its a nice cinematic.Moar,blizz! :P

I know its basically a necessity to explain PVP realms, BGs, and Arenas, but the whole Alliance vs. Horde thing is just tired. Varian Wrynn is a mindless, superstitious fool unfit to rule a fruit stand. Garrosh is no better.
With the entire world at risk, some leaders have nothing better to do than bicker amongst each other. It doesn't even make practical sense. Its equivalent to Earth getting attacked by aliens and countries not allying because of former trade disputes. I just don't buy it. After all, even the most diametrically opposed nations found a way to forge alliances during WWII.
Limor Apr 14th 2009 11:16AM
Could the fighting between Garrosh and Varian be building up to the new battleground we are supposed to be getting in 3.2?
Jack Apr 14th 2009 11:19AM
It was a very cool and insightful video, but what bothered me the most was the face changes to Jaina and King Varrian. They looked ridiculous!! Also once again the alliance is getting the low down first and the Horde is being oppressed because one of its leaders a major dick.
Evi Apr 14th 2009 2:12PM
I don't like Jaina's new face, either. :(
