PETA event: Seals got clubbed, pigs got eaten

And perhaps most hilariously, people brought plenty of Great Feasts to lay out for the crowd, which means that right in all of the (supposedly) animal-saving action, there was plenty of roast pig to eat. Not exactly the best day for PETA, but what did they expect? They did, however, get quite a few media mentions, so it was probably mission accomplished over there anyway.
Did you go to the event? If you've got more pictures of what happened, or even some video of what went down, let us know and we'll add them to the gallery below.

Kudos for the KOL reference!

PETA killed over 90% of the animals they took in over the past 5 years and over 21,000 over the past 10 years.

I knew my fellow wow players would not let me down.
Good job.

As a Hordy myself, i REALLY wish they did this on my server... death to PETA.
Braundo Apr 13th 2009 5:06PM
If the PETA folks were attacking Horde targets (which leads me to believe they would have been flagged), I would have preferred to see a legion of Horde PvP pros show up and completely wafflestomp the PETA crew into the ground.
John Apr 13th 2009 5:16PM
Amen to that.
And...
Keep PETA and their politics the hell out of my WoW!

PETA has, unfortunately, become more of a bad joke than an actual effectual group. The ethical treatment of animals is a noble goal. Sea Kittens, however, are a freaking joke. Yes, that is an actual campaign, they feel fish are treated poorly because they're not cute, so they want a "cute name" for fish.
Sea Kittens.
Yeah.
Bronwyn Apr 13th 2009 5:21PM
I want a sea-kitten minipet.
Hoggersbud Apr 13th 2009 5:28PM
And you think that's not a tongue in cheek campaign?
Maybe they're too subtle.
RyuHakubi Apr 13th 2009 5:39PM
I know this is not a "tongue in cheek campaign," I'd love for it to be.

It's real. I know former PETA members. They agree, PETA's nuts.

Mmm... I just had a sea-kitten sandwich with relish and mayo... yum!
Hoggersbud Apr 13th 2009 5:58PM
I don't see how those link prove it's not a tongue-in-cheek campaign.
Sorry, but it seems obvious to me that they're deliberately playing off the absurdity of their campaign. Which given their general pattern of such, isn't that surprising to me. You may think they're nuts, I might agree, but I think in this case they're deliberately being silly for a reason.

I'd agree with you, if not for the well-known fact that PETA has no sense of humor.
Hoggersbud Apr 13th 2009 6:11PM
Really? I don't think you could do have the campaigns they've done without a sense of humor.
Oh, and for the Petakills website linker, those statistics are deceptive. You shouldn't believe those lies.
Hoggersbud Apr 13th 2009 6:16PM
Really? I wouldn't think they could do have their campaigns without a sense of humor. Now it may be deadpan humor, but it's still humor.
Oh, and your website's statistics are false. Also they're a bit absurd in their reasoning in other places too. If you're really curious, I suggest you contact the Virginia gov't instead, they can give you real numbers.
Hoggersbud Apr 13th 2009 6:18PM
Damn, sorry, disappearing post, thought it got lost, but there it was!
Oh well.

"Really? I don't think you could do have the campaigns they've done without a sense of humor. "
The thing about having a sense of humor is, you have to laugh. Or at least deliver your straight lines with a wink. PETA does neither.
PETA is either the dryest, most deadpan satirist on the planet, or else they have zero sense of humor. And since one of their campaigns was to equate factory farming to the Holocaust... I sure hope they're not trying to be funny.
