PETA event: Seals got clubbed, pigs got eaten

And perhaps most hilariously, people brought plenty of Great Feasts to lay out for the crowd, which means that right in all of the (supposedly) animal-saving action, there was plenty of roast pig to eat. Not exactly the best day for PETA, but what did they expect? They did, however, get quite a few media mentions, so it was probably mission accomplished over there anyway.
Did you go to the event? If you've got more pictures of what happened, or even some video of what went down, let us know and we'll add them to the gallery below.

I started unabashedly laughing out loud in the office when I read that and saw the pictures.
Bravo to the Whisperwind hordies who played along.

It's organisations like PETA that give a bad name to vegetarians - as one myself I really wish they'd stop pulling this sort of stunt, as if I ever have to mention that I'm vegetarian I usually also have to add that I'm not a nutjob. *sigh*

I'd never knock anyone for being a vegetarian, even though I'm definitely not one myself. That said though, veggies are great I think. I don't eat enough of them I know, but when I do I tend to enjoy it (typically in the form of a thai wok with chicken, sometimes beef or shrimp, heh). Brussel sprouts? Bring on the brussel sprouts! Same with broccoli, cabbage, carrots, lentils, beans... Ever had real genuine Greek beef tomatoes? They're so fleshy and succulent you'd almost think you were sucking down a real steak! :D

Not being a nutjob will never stop people from thinking you are. Just ask Lisa Simpson.

From their recent media campaigns, I thought PETA was more about running around naked. Not that I'm going to complain about Eva Mendez nekkid.

The best pic was with the bloodfang rogue with "Merrymaker" title in that chaos

PETA is really good at getting publicity for themselves. As for actually doing anything that helps animals - not so much.
khalkaroth Apr 13th 2009 6:16PM
PETA is becoming more and more like some sort of cult instead of serious protestation group.
Keyra Apr 13th 2009 6:39PM
Agreed. PETA used to actually stand for something, but that was a long time ago. Their work brought more realization and understanding to the plight of various animals, but then they just sort of went around the bend and never came back sometime after the mid-to-late 1980s, and now they're more like the rabid fundamentalist nutjobs who spew hatred in the name of JAY-zuz!

Are you sure it's not Jebus?
Keyra Apr 13th 2009 6:47PM
Down here in the southern states, they have to enunciate the hell out of it...hmm...the "hell" out of it...I guess that works in two ways, eh?

Why are the pictures on wowinsider so microscopic?
txcroadshow Apr 13th 2009 6:36PM
Meat is murder.
Also, fish is rape and vegetables are large scale fraud.
Keyra Apr 13th 2009 6:40PM
I had a fraud pizza last night! YAY!
