Changes in the 3.1 live patch notes

Now that we have official patch notes for patch 3.1, I thought I'd take a look and see what changed between the last PTR notes and today. And the answer is: not much. Only eight new/changed lines, and nothing that I'd call major. But you may disagree, dear reader, and so I'll list everything I found right here.
- [Hunter] Roar of Sacrifice can be used on the hunter only
- [Shaman] Unleashed Rage: Reduced to 3 points, down from 5. No longer increases agility, but instead increases your total expertise by 3/6/9. [was 3/6/9%, though that was probably a typo]
- [Warlock] Drain Soul: Each time Drain Soul deals damage to a target which can grant experience, it now has a chance to generate a Soul Shard
- [Blacksmithing] Added a new recipe for the Titansteel Spellblade.
- UI:
- A new Equipment Manager feature has been added. This feature can be turned on from the Interface Options, and will enable managing up to ten separate sets of equipped items [note that they previously announced this feature would not make it for patch 3.1; I guess we'll have to wait and see]
- New elite mob frames have been added for V-Key frames.
- Enhancement Shaman PvP Set Bonus: The cooldown reduction of Stormstrike has been increased to 2 seconds, up from 1 second.
- Glyph of Shield Wall: Reduces the cooldown on Shield Wall by 3 min, but Shield Wall now only reduces damage taken by 40%. (was previously a 2-minute cooldown reduction)
- Judgement of Command: Fixed incorrect combat log tooltips. [This line was in the latest test notes, but not in the live notes. I doubt they un-fixed it, but I'm putting it here for completeness]
That's it! The one I'm most curious about is the Equipment Manager. Did someone forget to pull the line from the live patch notes, or did they fix their bugs faster than expected and manage to get the feature in for the patch? I guess we'll see when the realms come back up.

Gear manager will not be in 3.1, they just forgot to pull it. Even on the preview page posted today it says:
Note: Certain issues were encountered with the upcoming Equipment Manager that could not be resolved in time for release with the next content update, patch 3.1. In order to ensure that this feature meets our standard of quality, we will be taking some extra time with the Equipment Manager and it will instead be released some time after patch 3.1. We understand that this feature is a widely anticipated addition and apologize for this minor delay.

[Hunter] Roar of Sacrifice can be used on the hunter only
Damn guys, if you don't want tenacity pets in groups that badly, just ban them from instances and get done with it. Geez...

According to http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/ui.html the equipment manager is not in 3.1.
Also the change to Roar of Sacrifice has been in effect since the PTR first launched, if memory serves me correct.

i sure hope they fixed the bug where the gear manager would vendor your outfit if you changed while a vendor window was open.
Phil Apr 14th 2009 1:42AM
as of the build before last, they did fix the vendoring issue, now whether or not the equipment manager is going live, we'll have to wait and see!

If the Shield Wall glyph is coming in like that, that'd be awesome, but I'm sure they just forgot to change it.

I can't find the drakes being removed from Glory of the Raider, did they change it back?
BulletzBill Apr 14th 2009 2:10AM
undocumented change

Still disappointed they're still going through, it seems, with removing Spices and other stuff from Cooking.
There was no reason whatsoever to remove them - were three bag slots, in an era of 18-22 slot bags, really so vitally needed?
Plus, now things don't even make sense - Spicy Hot Talbuk without Hot Spices? Beer-Basted Boar Ribs without any beer? Insanity.

Frankly Im glad they are getting rid of all the spice requirements.
I have been leveling up an alt, and having to deal with the spices has been a real pain.
There just aren't enough vendors that carry the spices in the world.
rosencratz Apr 14th 2009 3:40AM
Delicious Chocolate cake without any chocolate?... oh wait!
The assumption is, if things need to make sense, that you, as the cook, only need to gather the raw materials. Seasoning can be done at your own leasure, it's an element that can be roleplayed by those that want to and is otherwise a now unnecesary mechanic for those with no interest in roleplaying.
Rugus Apr 14th 2009 3:48AM
Well I agree with you when it comes to "making things to simple = bad" but in this specific case (spices) removing them makes Cooking a little better. Cooking is a side-profession and spices were just an annoyance, in my opinion :)
Ametrine Apr 14th 2009 3:48AM
"There just aren't enough vendors that carry the spices in the world."
Hm... there's Cooking Supplies vendors beside every Cooking Trainer who carries them. Most of the General Goods vendors and All of the Trade Goods vendors carry them...
And each of the three spices stack to 20, with each piece of food they make usually only taking a single spice packet... do you honestly spend so much time farming and grinding that you go through three 20-stacks of buff food before your bags fill up and require you to return to town? Taking away spices, in this case, is the least of your problems, if that's true.
JBurg Apr 14th 2009 7:47AM
I agree with you Ametrine. I'm gonna miss those spices and such. Makes cooking a little less fun when the recipes get so simple.
