We're not out of the woods with this patch yet. I'm seeing this message on a North American realm, and
lots of other people are seeing the same thing. At least one of our bloggers is still in the game, though, and Blizzard is saying the Authentication servers are still up and running, so this should be fixed soon.
We'll keep you updated, stay tuned.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!
Update: A login server died. If you try signing in with a Bnet account, you should be able to get in. Otherwise, everybody
PANIC hold on and they'll be back up soon.
Update 2: Everything seems back up. That was relatively painless. Thanks for playing, everybody!

You realize this is a big content update, and you can pre-plan all you want on test servers but when you drop a major update to any server you run the risk of various servers not taking it, etc, just due to small differences in things. So you it's almost never a smooth transition for any company. Although most don't push updates as large as these. Please stop complaining.
Treesdeil Apr 15th 2009 1:44PM
@Chris
Do you realize that when you have an accross-the-board failure as large and lengthy as this one, it means that they clearly didn't sufficiently prepare the patch for live servers?
They do have a public test realm for a reason.
Chuddy Apr 15th 2009 1:54PM
lol. You have no idea about computers tree. We push content through gigantic cms's all the time and it kicks back errors on perfectly fine files. A patch that big, across that many servers, there are always errors. You're being naive. None of this is new.
Wyndy Apr 15th 2009 2:46PM
Chuddy, your use of "lol" for your idea that you think you know how "computers work" is priceless. First of all even in a small enterprise environment, if there was a couple month "test" period (PTR), there should be NO excuse why they can't push it live in a reasonable period with little hitches. NO company works like this under any circumstances, and people would be held accountable in a hurry. Real life example (considering your throwing around the I know "computers" better bit)....would you be happy if your financial institution didn't have your money freed up for 12 hours? NO. Thanks for playing though Chuddy, you get a take home prize anyhow...next time don't call people out claiming they don't know "computers".

"NO company works like this under any circumstances, and people would be held accountable in a hurry."
Except Blizzard I guess, eh?
"would you be happy if your financial institution"
Just stop, you're making an ass of yourself.
