Patch 3.1 kills dozens of servers in cold blood
Not entirely unexpectedly, many servers are having trouble staying up and active this evening. In most cases the server itself isn't going down, but rather individual continents. Northrend and the instance servers in particular are taking a beating, and at least on my server, Eastern Kingdoms is dropping like a rock every now and then, too.If you had big plans for this evening, you may want to reconsider. At the very least, raiders may want to wait until prime time has passed to give things a whirl. Generally, these things blow over as people start to log off for the evening, and there's less of a load on the server.
Blizzard is aware of the issue, so hopefully we'll see a fix for it all soon. I personally suspect it's unlikely things will magically get better tonight, but maybe before the weekend. That would be nice.

It was pretty bad on my server. Instances locking up, talent points being reset every time you logged on, not being released when dead. I had to three finger salute my way out of WoW several times.
I had just been saying it was smoother than 3.0 too...

Ya, sad thing is my guild waited until tonight to try out Uld since we figured things would be really buggy on the first day. Maybe lots of other people had the same idea. =S

I'm really pissed off as it seems B.Net accounts cant log in now. And the rest of my 10 man is busy clearing to Flame Leviathan as I write this.

Suramar- US, Alliance side currently has auction houses down.
Our economy is doomed.
Someone just blamed Obama for it.

Man, that's BS. Everyone knows it was Bush who failed to keep the Enchanting market in check, and now we're paying the price for it. ;)

The issue that I'm currently faced with is the realm transfer system D: My little spacegoat pallydan has been stuck in the queue for around nine hours at this point. In the last hour or so, I stopped getting the page that told me there was a wait time of a full day and began getting an error.
And now, the main site is imploded.
Yay 8D

Logging in via: Battle.net accounts seem to be down as well. Have not been able to log in since 9:45pm est.
Trasken Apr 15th 2009 10:00PM
May be an issue with Battle accounts as well, I can't seem to log back in (this is after getting stuck in Naxx).

Authentication servers are down as well. I only get 'you have been disconnected' message, even when I try to enter an incorrect password.

Beat me to it =)

Problem for me was going into Orgrimmar (WORST. IDEA. EVER.), and because of the multitude of people inside Org, WoW hung, and my connection crashed and wouldn't connect. Now 3 of my characters are/were stuck in Orgrimmar.

The wow community site seems to be down. Either that or my computer just doesn't like it.
DarkRevelation Apr 15th 2009 10:04PM
Nordrassil ~ Ally bgs and instances are down. Two of my characters are trapped, one I cannot log onto without crashing and it's not even near a lag laden city. The other one....stuck in BRD, goes right back to the character screen when I think it's going to load. Total chaos I tell you!

They need to setup a better install plan for the realms when doing updates because there seems to be to much unplaned down time on their servers. maybe better QA testing on your deployment procedures. I would assume with a big software company they probably have this in place. I can understand if a couple servers had issues during updates. But updates should go better without a complete shutdowns and random stalls. There is no reason for there customers to have to wait long for paid services ( Even if it is a game) and be told every hour it will be the next hour over and over again. Bottom line, there is no excuse for all servers to have a long down time, like yesterday, at any point or random stalls due to an update. I know they are working very hard to resolve the problems, and in my opinion have done an excellent job resolving the issues quickly. However, the patch updates needs to 'level up' so it does not happen again and performance improves.
