Argent Tournament Dailies: At the Enemy's Gates

Congratulations, Argent Valiant! You've progressed past the Aspirant rank and proven your chops at mounted combat before your peers. You've even become a representative of your home city in the Argent Tournament.
Well, guess what? Playtime's over.
Remember, the whole point of the Argent Tournament is to train all comers into Scourge-killing badasses, so now that you've proven yourself, it's time to crack some decaying skulls. And this time, you get to do it on horseback.
Find out how after the jump.
Talk to your city rep in your faction's tent. You must have completed the entire Aspirant quest line, including the Aspirant's Challenge, to take part in this quest.

Your rep will inform you that some brave crusaders have set up a camp in the Court of Bones, just outside Icecrown Citadel, and it's your charge to head there and help them out.
The camp is just outside past Corp'rethar, the Horror Gate.

Upon arriving, you'll find a whole bunch of crusaders and a pack of stabled Campaign Warhorses. These are your mounts. The warhorses, not the crusaders.

Mount up and head north. The area is lousy with gargoyles, labeled Boneguard Scouts, who'll be your first target. They're very easy to kill -- simply use your Shield-Breaker ability twice and they'll be dead. Kill ten of these to complete your first objective.

Next up are masses of Boneguard Footmen. They'll come after you in groups, but the good news is that these are incredibly easy to kill. Just trample them with your horse! You don't even need to use a skill, just run them through.

Finally, defeat three mounted Boneguard Lieutenants. These guys start off with one stack of Defend, so pull them with a Shield-Breaker and cut them down. You may get some Footmen along with them, but they pose no threat. And make sure not to pull the Boneguard Commanders with them -- they're a little tough for a Valiant to beat and you don't get any quest credit for them.

When you're done, just outside of Corp'rethar is the The Conflagration, a great area to pick up your Field Training credit (10 Scourge slain) if you haven't gotten it yet.
With those objectives completed, head back to your faction's tent and receive your reward.
Reward: Valiant's Seal x1 and 13g 23s

The tournament is thus far enjoyable even with the artificial blocks on progression.
Keep up this series its made things easier :D

It's like Quel'Danas but with more pausing, looking at your clock, and sighing.

Sorry about this repeat comment. Clicked the wrong verification link. Epic fail is me.

Thumbs up!

Too slow wowinsider, had to find these non-labeled map locations on our own :o(

This most important part is to not pull the Boneguard Commanders by mistake. Let's just say that I wasn't paying attention and it wasn't pretty.

You 'technically' don't need to get the warhorse to do this quest, as I learned to my misfortune. I picked up the quest, saw the kill X bonewhatevers and headed off to the citadel.
Popped into bear form, pulled a pack of footmen and swiped them down. Not hard, but definately not easy. And man, did it take a long time! Pulled another and had the same experience. Decided to try a scout, FF'd him and he just hovered there. Didn't do any damage, I couldn't damage him, and he wouldn't let me out of combat. hmm. So I pop out and moon/starfired and wrathed him down (took a mana pot to do it).
By now, I'm thinking this quest really sucks, and I haven't even tried a lieutenant yet.
I pull a third pack of footmen and I'm swiping away when I see someone on a horse ride in and kill everything. Cool, I think, maybe I need to fight here and these guys come out of nowhere to help me. So I run right into a pack of mobs, including commanders, and wait for my rescue.
As I flew back to my corpse, I decided to actually read the quest text, learned about the base camp and the warhorses and yada yada yada.
TLDR - Drood tankz haz no reed skillz

I did the same thing...almost. Drood treez haz no reed skillz either.
Got to the gargoyles and realized they were far too hard to kill for a non-group quest. Read the quest. D'oh.

I feel sorry for my poor illiterate drood friends.
I did learn that if you get dismounted, you might be able to run with a bubble all the way to the crusader camp with a lt chasing and remount.
Might.

DURID is for FITE not for REED!

Did this in the morning. Boneguard Commanders are a bit of a pain. One would think they'd be further from the front line of the battle.
Haarits Apr 16th 2009 7:12PM
The commanders are up there because when you hit Champion level, there's a slightly different daily in the same area. Only now you need to kill a Commander! (maybe more than one, I never checked the quest on the last PTR build or two).
Looks like some things were retuned from the pain that was the PTR; perhaps the Champion NPCs will be as painful still, but for a few builds there, even the duels with Valiants next to the tents were grueling. I managed to get Lance A Lot pretty easily last night, think I only got dismounted once. It'll be a long wait to get a hippogryph & all the mounts & pets, but it should be bearable.

Love this tournament thingy!

A good commander is up there with his troops!

It's fun, but with my laggy connection I am finding it hard to finish the Aspirant challenge :( The guy hits me twice before one of my blows land. Wish it wasn't button mashing vehicle quests
Kaylad Apr 17th 2009 6:12AM
Remember to stack the defence shield before you talk to the squire (or to the valiants in the next phase).
Amaxe Apr 17th 2009 8:51AM
Already done that. But with a latency of over 2000, I get hit by shieldbreakers and charges before a charge I clicked 2 seconds before goes off. I don't think I ever got the guy down to even 75% health

You should be able to have a friend help you get past the aspirant challenge by having him DPS the Knight (on foot) while you are fighting him. I intend to help my keyboard-turning girlfriend get past the hard parts in this manner.
