Ensidia downs Yogg-Saron
It was inevitable that someone would down Yogg-Saron pretty quickly, and less than twenty four hours after the patch went live European guild Ensidia have claimed World First on the Death God. Given the non-linear progression into Ulduar, a lot of other guilds were able to pull off world firsts on other bosses. It also seems that Ensidia was focusing on clearing Ulduar in normal mode, as none of their kills were done on hard mode. This means we're unlikely to see Algalon downed this week (not by Ensidia, anyway).
While it came as no surprise that someone killed him, what surprised me was that it was Ensidia. I was betting on Vodka (can I get a 'for the Alliance!' from anyone?) and that they managed to do it while many of the EU realms were having stability issues. Of course, it should be noted that Ensidia was the same guild that cleared all Wrath content three days after its release (they hadn't decided on a name yet).
Boubouille over at MMO Champion has a full raid list and info on some of the loot that dropped, including a rather nice cloak and a piece of that legendary healer mace.

First Achievements should be removed...
Its good to hear that someone has done the task for "news." Yet whats the point? Ok an announcement across the server is cool as well but IMHO i think this whole 1rst thing is retarded and everytime i see someone write it much less the achievements in WoW my IQ drops a little more...
Stop that shit.
Last i checked this was an RPG, yet they keep trying to pull in the "Console/ Shoot'em" up only crowd. What is this Call of Duty 4 ?
Good for Blizzards pockets, bad for the genre...

You said it!
It's times like these that I start to hover over the 'download EQ2' button. Yea yea I know the game is old but I want an mmoRPG not some kinda shot-em-up with a weirdly long story.
I dont care about who is first either...but I do wonder if anyone really 'enjoys' this game anymore? Do people even look at the artwork or read quest text?
Or is it just a mad rush to the top...only to be bored until the next content patch?
I mean really....o_O
Balius Apr 16th 2009 12:43PM
What the heck does it matter to YOU how other people to play the game? You don't have to rush through content, you don't have to skip quest text, and nothing's stopping you from admiring the art. Play the game the way you want to play it, and give others the same courtesy.

You gott remember though, these guys are in the very best gear and have been practicing in the PTR since it's been available. Plus, they did it in normal mode, rather than the hard modes, which as the name implies, are of greater difficulty.
Clbull Apr 16th 2009 11:06AM
This might be true for the other bosses, but not for Yogg-Saron. He didn't appear on the PTR at all.
Gnimsh Apr 16th 2009 11:03AM
Great stuff I hoped for Ensidia to do it as I cheer for them.
Anyway are they saved for hard mode 25 man now? Or do they continue to the hard mode 25 after Ulduar 10 and another short food break? :D
sephirah Apr 16th 2009 11:11AM
They can't kill the same bosses twice in a week... ;)
Elysion Apr 16th 2009 11:04AM
For the Alliance! All Hail the King! :P
epicboyz Apr 16th 2009 11:12AM
your king looks like he hasnt used the bathroom in months...
FOR THE HORDE!
Rob Apr 16th 2009 11:44AM
Ha! Varian only shows his determination and the anguish he has seen.
Come now Brothers, we shall rally against these foul creatures! For the All----
....where's all the other Alliance supports? Gah, more people need to play WC2.
Uhnathema Apr 16th 2009 11:05AM
Can we please stop referring to these kills as "firsts"? I'm sorry but tearing through a raid instance without any of the added challenges or tweaks to a boss fight isn't That Big of a Deal anymore. The game of raiding changed with LK and the "hard mode" achievements and yet so many people fail to acknowledge that.
Until a guild manages to kill General Vez/Yogg/Algalon/whomever while standing on their heads in a vat of chocolate jello all while reciting PI to 100 decimal places or doing whatever other crazy challenges Blizzard has added to the mix, I don't consider that a "first."
smiley Apr 16th 2009 11:10AM
I accept your challenge, but can it be vanilla pudding?
Uhnathema Apr 16th 2009 1:28PM
No, vanilla pudding isn't allowed. However, you can substitute cookies'n'cream ice cream BUT you must complete the fight before 50% of the ice cream has melted.
zephem Apr 16th 2009 11:16AM
quite sure that RP realms are in a minority and players actually participating in roleplaying are a minority on those realms as well. WoW is a lot of things, but by strict application not really an RPG. Fantasy action game with RPG elements would be a good description I'd say ;)
sephirah Apr 16th 2009 11:09AM
If anybody really believed that would have taken more than one week for the top guilds to clear Ulduar on normal mode only deluded himself, hoping for some uber hard raid like SWP.
1. we're talking about pro players
2. in BIS gear
3. who experienced most of the content on the PTR,
4. content that was anyway declared to be only somehow harder than Naxx by the developers.
Poop Apr 16th 2009 11:18AM
LOOSERS!
Lord Negatron Apr 16th 2009 12:03PM
Only one "O" is needed my friend, only one...
Unless they fight wearing the stretched out socks that always droop down off your heel,(I hate that!) then they are indeed loosers!
Chuck Apr 16th 2009 11:31AM
I wonder how many people got fragments?
I know my guild got one from Flame Leviathan, on easy mode, and as far as I know, we're the only ones on the whole server who has one.
But gratz to them! By the sound of it, it's going to be really challenging, even on easy mode for most guilds, which is nice.
ChiperSoft Apr 16th 2009 2:07PM
They said in their blog post that one fragment dropped during the run and was rolled on by two people.
Which is kinda disheartening to me, since you need like 40 of the fragments to build the mace. Only one drop per run is kinda sucky. Maybe the hard mode bosses will drop more
Riftheart Apr 16th 2009 11:38AM
IMHO, the quick defeat of Ulduar-25 by Ensidia should still send a message to Blizzard that this game is just to easy. PTR issues aside, nobody ripped through the original Naxx in less than 24 hours.
Yes it's the best guild out there. Yes every player in Ensidia is extremely skilled... but honestly, anyone who has competed in any game on a high level could accomplish this task. I've played for extremely competitive FPS teams in the past (CAL-I as well as other respected ladders), and I can tell you with sincere honesty and respect that there are MORE THAN A HANDFUL of players capable of ripping through Ulduar like Ensidia did. The challenge isn't in beating U-25, it's in getting the right players together to do it. I just feel like players whose experiences are limited to only MMOs just don't understand this. Serious gamers with serious skills are NOT in short supply.
