Ensidia downs Yogg-Saron
It was inevitable that someone would down Yogg-Saron pretty quickly, and less than twenty four hours after the patch went live European guild Ensidia have claimed World First on the Death God. Given the non-linear progression into Ulduar, a lot of other guilds were able to pull off world firsts on other bosses. It also seems that Ensidia was focusing on clearing Ulduar in normal mode, as none of their kills were done on hard mode. This means we're unlikely to see Algalon downed this week (not by Ensidia, anyway).
While it came as no surprise that someone killed him, what surprised me was that it was Ensidia. I was betting on Vodka (can I get a 'for the Alliance!' from anyone?) and that they managed to do it while many of the EU realms were having stability issues. Of course, it should be noted that Ensidia was the same guild that cleared all Wrath content three days after its release (they hadn't decided on a name yet).
Boubouille over at MMO Champion has a full raid list and info on some of the loot that dropped, including a rather nice cloak and a piece of that legendary healer mace.

No.. it sends a message that some people have no life. Who cares if 5% of the 11 million subscribers blast through content? Its the 95% of the population of WoW that matters. I am tired of hearing you whiny little bitches complaining its too easy because you have no job, live in your moms basement on red bull and hot pockets and spend every waking moment in the game. Think its too easy? Fine... quit playing.

So let be get this right, you want the game to revert back to only 5% of players entering the instance? Leaving the remaining 95% of ppl to looking at the content that many workers spent months designing and fine-tuning on youtube. Just knowing that they will probably never get to see the raid until there 10 lvls higher then the intended level, because that just seems stupid to me.
Hard modes and Algalon can be the benchmark for the uber ppl, let the average player have the ez-modes

I love the knee-jerk reactions. Maybe I live in my mom's basement, or maybe I'm about to graduate with a master's degree and make buckets of money working my tail off. The point of my post is that if you think Ensidia and the "5% mom's basement" crowd are the only people capable of walking through Ulduar, you're completely ignorant.
@Andy: Seeing content and difficulty are not mutually exclusive. They could easily ramp up the difficulty much more in stages as you progress, ala Black Temple. Since there's no "key" dropping off of Yogg to enter, say, Icecrown, there's really no need to have him be anything other than a complete PITA. Is it too much to ask for epic bosses to pose real challenges? Yogg being easier than Kael just doesn't sit right with me, but that's my opinion. Some people like handouts. Probably the same people that used a game genie back in the day, or up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A-select-start.

There are several things to remember here:
1) Yes, to all the people saying it, Yogg-Saron was not tested on the PTR. That might explain why it took several hours post killing the rest of the instance that Ensidia and guilds like it took to actually bring him down. However, even though they had done all the bosses previously in the PTR, it still took them quite some time to clear up to Yogg (server issues not withstanding).
2) Ulduar is (much) harder than Naxxramas: As intended, even the trash pulls can be a misery if you don't know what you're doing. Try doing the two fire colossi outside of Ignis' room with a PuG that doesn't know what it's doing and it's going to be wipe central. Say hello to the fire tornadoes that chase people after that pull, while you're at it, while fire dots bounce around the raid until you get to the bottom.
3) FOR THE HORDE. I'm a little sad that the US didn't get the kill first even with all that bonus time, but at least it didn't go to some brain-washed Alliance guild :P

3. According to WoWJutsu, the top 18 guilds are EU anyway, so it's not that much of a surprise.

Hm. Funny everyone is all excited. They cleared a dungeon on easy mode. Let's throw a party. They haven't beat Ulduar yet, Algalon is still in there.
I'm actually very dissapointed in them, and thought they were better then this. Instead, they waste a raid lockout without doing a single hard mode, which is where the real kills lie.
sara.bowerman Apr 16th 2009 12:25PM
It makes more sense when you consider that they wanted world first and it would be faster if they didn't do hard modes...

I'm amazed people are surprised about this. Keep in mind a few things:
- Most of the bosses in SWP were killed within a day after the doors opened. This includes KJ which I believe SK-Gaming (Ensidia now) killed within a day. These top guilds are ALWAYS going to clear the content this fast no matter where in progression it is.
- In the past progression was halted not because of a difficult encounter but arbitrary road blocks forcing the raid to halt. Farming for resistance gear in BWL, having to gear out 4 tanks in BiS stuff for four horsemen, having C'Thun be mathematically impossible to kill for the first couple of months.
Even in TBC a lot of encounters were like this. For one, people didn't get into SSC/TK quick because they were released at the same time as KZ and Gruuls. Where as in this case people have had tons and tons of time to farm naxx over and over back in the day these guilds had to farm their KZ/Gruuls gear in order to have a chance at SSC and TK. Then we had Black Temple which had a resistance gear check roadblock, and obviously we had SWP with its own block (which as I've said the moment the bosses were open guilds were taking them down within a day).
Bosses have never survived these top guilds without any sort of road blocks in their way, be it gear checks (which suck), resistance checks or other means (bugged encounters and stuff). The people who state that it was so much harder "back in the day" really need to look at it objectively and need to see how blizzard is going forward. They want their raids to be a challenge to clear, not a time sink in which you need to have your entire raid decked out with gear that is only useful for one fight.
Keep in mind that the other 95% of guilds in the world are probably going to progress at a slower pace which is normal. However I do really like the fact that no longer there are INSANE gear checks like in TBC and that it is the players skill that matters more. And, for what it is worth from what I have seen so far in Ulduar it certainly is a step up from naxx.
Finally keep in mind that this is only the SSC and TK level of raiding we are at right now. Ideally we still are missing the Hyjal/BT and the Sunwell of WoTLK. And one can certainly assume that the hard mode "Sunwell" (icecrown probably) of WoTLK will be very challenging.
Jaziek Apr 16th 2009 12:16PM
holy wall of text nad :D
but you're right of course.
It is ridiculous to base the "difficulty" of a raid on what 1 guild of people playing almost solidly for a day can accomplish.
They make the game for 12 million people, not for 25.
Ivan Carlos Apr 16th 2009 11:52AM
I just opened my game and someone already killed him.. >
chickennub Apr 16th 2009 11:54AM
I haven't even been able to get into an instance/raid (that didn't lock up or freeze) since the patch. So.. i guess the big grats would be on not locking up or getting hearthed back to Org and acually completing a raid completed.
So..when you guys are bored and have this on farm in a couple weeks you wanna run my lowbie thru RFK? lol...

Great Job Blizzard!
What a joke lol.
Maybe next time you can just have them program the fight for you stooges.
Lord Negatron Apr 16th 2009 12:12PM
Yeah! Damn them for being good (Geared and Exp'd) and downing a new boss (Non Heroic)...
DAMN YOU Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Tiger Woods, for winning the same Championships over and over and being some of the "best to ever do it..."
Think im going to try out for the NBA tomorrow, i mean how hard is it to put a ball in through a hoop? Ha! im gonna be rich.
:P
Noscy Apr 16th 2009 7:37PM
@ Lord Negatron
LOL... I'm going 25 boxing my way through Uldar, its just that easy... and I'm not a women (although I have mastered the art of multi-tasking from our superior masters)
My only issue, who gets the loot? The fight between plate wearers is just amazing... the abusives tells are off putting... especially when they complain to the Raid leader which is me!
Dunwich Apr 16th 2009 2:51PM
Gratz...but dang it...how much of an achievement is it really when 99% of the raiding guilds haven't even had a chance to try Ulduar due to server failure?
schmunkel98 Apr 16th 2009 12:14PM
Seriously, how in the hell was their server that stable for that long with no resets or downtime? On Azjol-Nerub we are lucky to clear the trash leading to Flame Leviathan without it locking up or resetting. Anyone else having lag-free, issue-free Ulduar runs that I don't know about?
Dightkuz Apr 16th 2009 12:42PM
I can tell you from my own experience that Magtheridon wasn't "lag-free" or "issure-free".
Jason Apr 16th 2009 12:16PM
So when's 3.2 coming out?
