I suspect Blizz made the first boss so easy because it is a vehicle fight, and there have been... problems in the past with vehicle fights, as you may recall. Blizz no doubt wanted everyone to have an actual GOOD experience with a vehicle fight for once, as well as make sure the fight would remain doable even if the vehicle system continued to be a pain. They erred on the side of being too easy instead of too hard.
