The Queue: Rested
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.Good afternoon, folks. I want to take a second to apologize for The Queue's absence the last couple of days. Patch days pretty much murder Adam and I, so we set this thing aside for a couple of days. We're much less busy now though, so it should be back on schedule!

"So is the Argent Tournament a one time thing or is it going to keep coming back? I'm kinda worried i'll miss it if I reroll with a friend."
The Argent Tournament is labeled a world event which are usually temporary things, but from every indication we've been given it won't be going anywhere. It's permanent. Content patches will progress it through its stages of construction/completion, but it won't go away.
Aesther asked...
"I have started a Prot Paladin and one thing that's confusing to me is that I've read in some places that over time you should be stacking strength as a priority over spell power but another friend tells me that there is still a question as to whether that's true. Is it really unresolved or has it been definitively settled that for Prot strength > spellpower or vice versa?"
It's Strength, no doubt about it. Tank stats period will be better for a Protection Paladin than spell power. The Protection talent Touched by the Light converts 30% of your Stamina into spell power. Thanks to the addition of Shield of Righteousness, Strength (and thus Block Value) has increased importance for Protection Paladins, and is a source of threat gen. You simply don't need to go out of your way to pick up spell power. Stamina and Strength will serve you better.
Microtonal asked...
"Is there any accepted canonical order to the Warcraft novels? I'd like to read them all, but I'm not quite sure where to start or how to proceed."
The Warcraft novels don't have one constant continuity between them, so reading them out of order won't hurt too much, with some exceptions.
The War of the Ancients trilogy would come first, history-wise. The first appearance of some of the headlining characters (Rhonin, Krasus) actually make their first appearances in Day of the Dragon, however. Following those would be Night of the Dragon.
All of the others? You can more or less cherry pick them, reading them out of order won't hurt any. They're independent events throughout Azeroth's history.
Clifton asked...
"I've noticed some of the Wyrmrest Protectors at Wyrmrest Temple are blue dragons. How does that make sense? It's always bugged me in some weird OCD sort of way."
We can be pretty sure that not the entire Blue Dragonflight agrees with Malygos. Kalecgos, for example, is one Blue Dragon that most likely wouldn't agree with the lengths Malygos is going to right now. While the Blue Dragonflight doesn't have an official representative in Wyrmrest right now, some of the rank and file probably bailed early on in the Nexus War.

How much Haste should a balance druid have? I've been told that it's important to have, but tend to sink points into spellpower whenever i can. Is that wrong?
Nothlit Apr 18th 2009 6:51PM
Haste is important to a moonkin, but not as much as spell power. Always gear for spell power above haste. Haste in itself is about equal to crit (min/maxing says haste is slightly better).

On Tuesday, when I was able to log in after the patch hit, I immediately bought dual-spec and set up my new talents. All was well. Then, on Wednesday, when I logged back in, all of my talents had been refunded again. I asked around and found that this had not happened to anyone else, and I read nothing in wowinsider about this, so I'm wondering if this only happened to me or if this was something that happened to others?
romiress Apr 17th 2009 6:34PM
Certain classes had refunds done, druids included. Some people got extra points.

What happened to the titles that we were supposed to be getting for becoming a champion of our faction? They aren't listed in the achievements tab.
Lorsty Apr 17th 2009 5:45PM
My guess is that it's a "several steps" achievement like "Can I keep him?" - > "Plethora of Pets" - > "Shop smart, shop pet... smart".
Maybe after you become a champion the next step is up which is to be a champion and exalted.
Spicyness Apr 17th 2009 5:50PM
You need to get the "Champion of " achievement before you can get the "Exalted Champion of " achievement that rewards the title.

Is the construction of the Argent Tournament building at all dependent on realm participation like Quel'Danas was? I was wondering if the goblin dailies 'A Chip Off the Ulduar Block' and 'Jack Me Some Lumber' helped construct the building faster. If so, is there any way to see progression like there was with Quel'Danas?
epsilon343 Apr 17th 2009 8:03PM
From what I heard, Blizzard will be doing the Tournament with patches on their end.
Andrew R. Apr 17th 2009 5:53PM
The construction of the Colosseum isn't based on realm participation. It's going to be like SW harbor pre-3.0. We'll see the frame for months and nothing more. Then when 3.2 hits the Colosseum will be finished.
At least that's what I've been hearing.

What's the deal with the daily cooking quests? bug? unlisted change/nerf? Would love you to use your powers to find out!
Aaron A. Apr 17th 2009 8:58PM
Is there a deal? I've done the Cooking daily twice (Mushroom Meatloaf & Sewer Stew) since Patch Day, and it's worked out fine so far.

xD
check the update.
my guess is it's bugged for characters below 80. some can do it, some dont.

I have a question:
Speaking of the novels, does Blizzard consider the novels to be canon, and does Blizzard have to approve the plots of them? Also, does Blizzard incorporate the storylines of the books into the lore of WoW?
Wulfkin Apr 17th 2009 8:32PM
As far as I know, yes all novels are considered canon.
And yes events in novels end up in the game. The entire Sartharion encounter is a result of events in the "of the Dragon" serie, for example.
Sumanai Apr 17th 2009 10:09PM
Blizzard gives the writers guidelines about what they want in the book and what they dont want told. after that they will review the novel and approve or request changes. sometimes the writers come up with some ideas of their own that blizzard likes and puts in the game.

I really can't remember where I heard it; maybe it was briefly mentioned in a manga review or something, but apparently after Anveena's sacrifice at the Sunwell and Kil'jaeden's defeat, Kalecgos went into a depressive state. After all, he loved that poor, unscaly mass of pure energy. After Malygos sanity either got better or worse (depending on your person opinion :P), it is said that Kalecgos was actually sent away from Northrend on some kind of journey or mission. I think it was to rally the remaining Blue Dragons in Winterspring and Azshara, etc. Popular consensus is that all of the Blue Dragons loyal to Malygos know that Kalecgos will not and would not side with him in the Nexus War.
But then again, don't take this as fact because I cannot recall where I read / heard this. :(
Hal Apr 17th 2009 6:47PM
I actually have two questions.
First, since cooking has its own title as a reward, is there any chance the other professions will get titles as well? It'd be great advertising, and I'd love to be "Haltar the Smith."
Second, the 3.1 changes to Protection Paladins is supposed to make them competitive in PvP. Are there any PvP shields on the horizon?
