Top Ulduar achievements earned thus far
The folks over at GuildOx, a guild progress and achievement ranking site, were kind enough to email us some interesting new statistics about Ulduar's achievements. As it stands a large portion of the raids are, of course, not getting encounter specific achievements the first time they go into the zone. However there are some that are getting them nonetheless.People may wonder if guilds are getting the achievements this quickly because Ulduar is too easy. My opinion on the matter is that Ulduar itself sans hard modes won't be abnormally challenging, however when you put in the hard modes and various twists to the encounter in order to earn the achievements, Ulduar is going to become quite challenging.
The achievements that have made the list so far, like A Quick Shave where you have to kill Razorscale with her only flying into the air once, just requires a lot of DPS. That's not too hard for most geared out groups to muster.
Take a look after the break for GuildOx's list of the top five Ulduar 10 and 25 man achievements, and head over there to take a look at things overall.
Top 25-Man Achievements
Heroic: Shutout – 1.89% achievement rate

"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. "

Did they take out the achievement with the Iron Boot Flask? I figured that one would be the easiest out of everything.
Joelock Apr 18th 2009 12:33PM
not a whole ton of people are even getting to iron council yet, things like the DPS check on XT-D are nicely difficult enough, and many people forgot to pop the flask right before the 'kill' my guild only about 8 of us got the achievement ^_^

I knew my guild was pushing him to get 2. Unless your full pre-3.1 BIS across your raid, its gonna be pretty damn difficult.
I'm loving the upped difficulty. Naxx was a joke and we all know it. I've never been more happy to wipe on a boss in my life.

Blizzard hotfixed several hard modes yesterday to make them more challenging. Well done blizzard, I'm starting to like this new system.
The way I see it, there are two Ulduar-25's. There is the instance all in easy mode, from FL to Yoggy, which is challenging but after a while will not be too hard. The 2nd Ulduar-25 involves looking at each fight's ultimate hard mode as its true form. Looking at it this way, the instance is very hard. FL is now with 4 towers up, Freya is with 3 elders, Yogg with no watchers, etc etc. If hardcore guilds want the challenge, they should clear the instance in all hard mode.
This system is shaping up perfectly in Ulduar to allow casuals to see content and there is still a challenge there for those who seek them.

Casuals will not be able to waltz through "easy" Ulduar.

And 10mans are left in the cold?

Um.
To get Razorscale down in one air phase, you need to do 6.3mil damage in 30sec. Which is 210k raid-wide dps. Which, in an average group of 3 tanks, 7 healers, and 15 dps, means each of those dps need to be cranking out 14k dps for those 30sec. Even if your healers are awesome and you only brought, say, 4 of them.... that still means you need about 11700dps from each damage dealer.
"Not too hard"? Really WI?

Reread the achievement. It's not Razorscale being brought to the ground only once, but *taking off* only once. You get two 30 second dps periods, cutting your number in half, or about 7k personal dps. Before the hotfix extending the enrage to 10 minutes (up from six), if you *didnt* stop her from taking off a second time, you were guaranteed to hit the enrage and wipe. Therefor the people who managed to beat her got the achievement by default.
AyaJulia Apr 18th 2009 4:21PM
If that's true, the wording on the achievement is really ambiguous. To me, it seems she is "flying in the air" the instant you engage her, and if you allow her to launch again after the first round of harpoons, she is then "flying in the air twice." :s Perhaps they should reword it. "Ground Razorscale in two repair phases" or something similar would be much clearer.

Shutout tops the list because it's the one you get not so much because you're trying for it, but more because the whole mechanic of taking out the turrets takes so much coordination most guilds succeed in just zerging Leviathan down first.

The concept of "hard modes" is flawed. It just means you get to run easy mode again and again until you are geared enough to try hard mode. By then, I'm bored of it. Just make it hard the first time around. This whole game has become nothing but an online drag race where your toon is the car. It's a completely non-immersive game now and the story may as well not even be in the game. Oh well, 3 more weeks on my card and I'm done with the laughable excuse for a game forever. Good luck all!

Blizzard tried your way; the result was they put tremendous effort into raids, only to have 1% to 2% of the playerbase ever see most of it. That makes no economic sense whatsoever.
Now they're trying having a Normal mode lots of people can do, and a Heroic mode for the "pros" which requires very little extra effort on their part compared to the effort already required to create the raid.
If that doesn't work, they'll probably just stop adding new raids, because it doesn't return their investment.

syberghost-
Doing things "my way" is what made WoW popular in the first place. Why change what put you at the top? Most companies that mess with a proven, successful, formula end up making things worse, not better.
Coke? New Formula-> Fail. Burger King and no actual flame broil -> gradual loss of market share over the past several years.
I have MANY more examples floating around in my head, but this isn't really the forum for it. Besides, I want to go play Fallout 3...

No, it's because my credit card has already been billed for the month, but nice try. I am in the process of auctioning everything at rock bottom prices so I can give some gold to guildees on the way out. I don't even really understand how people get addicted to such an empty game.
Oh, and don't worry. I'm in the process of shooing. I won't miss you, or most of the other Warcrafters much either. Have fun with your mindless, repetitive tasks. :P

People realy realy need to quit QQ'ing so much if ulduar is to hard for u then go chill in naxx for the people that are saying it is to easy that is y u havnt downed the true final boss...So baisically if u cant stand the heat stay out the kitchen .. If u want to raid then be prepared for hard boss encounters ... Naxx was too easy and now Ulduar is to hard get over it and step up ur game and pleaqse please quit QQ'ing
Chamual Apr 18th 2009 8:54PM
I can't see many casual guilds or players clearing easy-mode Uldar anytime soon. We are about 6-7 bosses down in Uldar25 but that is with solid raiding since Wednesday (probably about 25 hours so far).
The difficulty is nicely balanced at the moment. There is plenty going on in each fight, all the bosses hit hard enough to worry T7.5 tanks and healers, and there is plenty of movement and co-ordination required by the dps.

AyaJulia, dont try and make a meaningless post too make someone elses meaningles.
Tagashis point is legit, why mess with a formula that already worked?
Too be honest i think i agree with Tagashi. These new hardmodes are slighlty annoying for me as it seems like your penalising your self in someway or form too make content harder. If that was the case, then why didnt "hardcore" people who were bored just have a rule where they could only fight Naxx boss/ instances without a weapon equiped?
The answer is because it is silly.
demi May 19th 2009 3:10PM
its comments like that that show that u r not a true raider.. true raiders r always looking for a way to make a encounter more difficult..therefore if u do not like hard modes then do not try them... first beat the instance in reg b4 u start talking smack about hard modes... its ppl like this that get every boss fight in the game nerfed jsut so them/their guild can complete a raid withought puting forth any true effort at all... HARD MODE IS OPTIONAL

So Blizzard gave in to the 1% whiners (and liars !) ans made Ulduar unacceptable difficult for normal people.
You know the 30% Raiding guilds that pay their subs money and will leave the instance just like they did it with Sunwell.
If it wasn't for the fun PvP, I would have left this game already years ago.
Tx whiners. Arena rating system was fucked up tx to those elitists, now it's the raiders turn.
