Around Azeroth: The velvet Elvis of Icecrown
It looks like the quality of interior design in Azeroth continues to improve. First an astute reader finds a dead-on parody of American Gothic, and now Daranara of Zangarmarsh has discovered this campy velvet masterpiece in Icecrown. "Okay so, I'm putzing around the Argent Tournament grounds on my hunter, right?" Daranara writes. "Just seeing what's what and such. Suddenly I come across what might be either on-site armor inspection, or possibly approval of all those wayward night elves and their human pets, I'm not sure. Either way, not the sort of thing expected of a jewelcrafter's tent."
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Catiya of Feathermoon Apr 20th 2009 10:14AM
indeed, and an awesome one at that!
skreeran Apr 20th 2009 10:46AM
No, the jewelry commercial had two belfs, not a Nelf and a humans.
Woolwort Apr 20th 2009 10:41AM
Caption:
NE: Come hither and kneel before me!
Human: Yes, Mistress!

Woah, "putzing?" You might want to edit these submitted descriptions first; that's kind of offensive to anyone with half a brain and a Yiddish background. Would you say "dicking around" on this website?
Your writeups for these are so much better, anyway.
Kia Apr 20th 2009 11:35AM
...Seriously? Don't get your panties in such a twist, there's nothing wrong with saying 'putzing' and I have plenty of ethnic family members. Get over yourself. It's crap like this that makes people have to step on egg shells over being remotely un-PC. Stop it. Just stop it.
Axilla Apr 20th 2009 12:20PM
Except for the part where it's just another slang term for penis. I wouldn't expect WoW Insider to use any other terms for this, why should 'putzing' be okay? It's slang, and rude, and just not very professional.
Blackhorn Apr 20th 2009 1:11PM
This just in: Apparently doorknobs on this site find both slang and the humble penis offensive.
notworksafe Apr 20th 2009 1:12PM
Sure, it does mean penis in Yiddish...but something tells me I'm one of the few who speak it here.
The word has become slang for someone who is a bit of a bum, or for idling around.
Welcome to the english language. We steal other words and make them into slang.
Axilla Apr 20th 2009 2:07PM
And "dick" has the same exact alternate meaning, but you wouldn't find that here, either.
I stand by it being unprofessional and rude.

What ever happened to the caption this contests anyway they were awesome =)
Keyra Apr 20th 2009 11:05AM
So this is what happened to the belongings that the Furlbrows couldn't take with them from Westfall, eh? Fenced to some Defias cutthroat, hawked to a goblin loanshark, put on the neutral auction house in Ratchet and finally finds its way as some kitsch in Icecrown.
Poor Verna, she so loved that painting, looking up at it, sitting proudly above the hearth as she made her famous stew in the kettle...

From what I read awhile back, too many people were whining and complaining about the winners, so they just did away with it altogether.
Agony Apr 20th 2009 11:19AM
Aaauuuggghhh!!! Stupid comment/reply thing. This was supposed to have been in reply to the question about whatever happened to the "Caption This" contest...no matter how many times I clicked on the "Reply" button, it wouldn't take.
Hey, I also read awhile back about a new commenting system that was supposed to be implemented...whatever happened with that?
Phil Apr 20th 2009 11:52AM
That's pretty much a parody of those "Diamonds are Forever" jewelry commercials.
Keyra Apr 20th 2009 4:33PM
Nope, sorry...

Shadowed, but not starkly silhouetted like this, as were the actual commercials themselves.
Laynne Apr 20th 2009 11:56AM
I agree with the Caption This contests. I never entered, but it was always fun to read the captions. There is definitely something wonky going on with the comments, I'm not able to reply to other comments right now.
xnn Apr 20th 2009 2:58PM
Welp... I was penising around these comments, and realized that some people are very up tight.
... besides, I was expecting the caption to be something like ".. and on that day, James found out the difference between girls and boys."
I suppose I never cease to be amazed in a culture where we laugh at seeing people's "pee pee parts."
Jason Apr 21st 2009 2:27AM
Heh, I'm still surprised that the "American Gothic" photo I took was selected! I love finding little details like that around the world. ;)
