Breakfast Topic: Patch 3.1 after the dust has settled
Patch days are often disastrous, and in their aftermath, there is a lot to tweak, hotfix, and repair. Realms have been unstable, Authentication servers unreliable, and bugs abound.
Earlier this week, we asked you what your impressions are of live Patch 3.1, and now that you've had a few days to adjust to the changes, we want to know, how are you feeling about it now?
My pick for the most annoying aspect would have to be the new quest tracker that shows the icon of the quest item, if there is one, next to the information. Or, rather, on top of it. Somehow, knowing that I've killed 1... doesn't really help me. Is that 1 of 12? 11 of 12? 13/17? Who knows.
Despite this easily-fixable problem, I'm loving it. Thursday night raiding was smooth as silk, and not only are dual-specs extremely handy and fun, it also makes it easier to answer questions about your off-spec. How many hit points does my Tankadin have unbuffed, you ask? Give me under one minute, and I can tell you! I can't wait until the Equipment Manager is live.
How are you liking the changes and new features, now that you've had a few days to play around with them? Have your opinions changed from how you felt in the first day or two after it landed? Why?

Not liking it any better, it's still a lagfest no matter where I go (and I've adjusted my settings)

For the most part pretty good. The dailies are fun (kinda like the Sunwell dailies were kinda fun at times) and Ulduar is actually challenging.
My only complaint is that I spent all that gold on dual spec, and I'm still being forced to tank everything. :(
What sucks even more is it feels like all the other tanks got a single target TPS boost, and I am still right where I have always been, only now I'm actually struggling a little bit if the boss delivers spike damage instead of a steady stream of damage....
Ah, the life of a warrior: gotta get hit to be good.

Bear's have to be hit too. Don't forget about us lonesome bears.

Well, since the EU server I play on was pretty stable right after patch launch, I feel the same as I did then... well, maybe not the same since of course, the first day you are like 'wow patch!' and can't wait to check everything out, and then the excitement dies down and you get back in the routine of things.
I haven't had much play time, so I haven't gotten far into the tournament, but I like it! Dual specs are very neat, enjoying my fire/fire spec on my mage. Some people are being troubled by bugs, but everything works fine with me.
So I am happy overall. Enjoying the new things, enjoying old things, all is well!

Firstly...
3.1 So far is great, I have picked up my first piece of Ulduar Gear, and it seems we are going from strength to Strength, what is everyone else's opinion?

BLAH! Fail on my part... damn these sandwiches and tea at midnight!

Nice to have some raiding that is a bit of a challenge, but why are the exclamation marks on my minimap so smaaaaaaal!

TBH, I do love "the new quest tracker that shows the icon of the quest item" because I do not have to search my bags for the quest item and put it in the bar somewhere (which is already crowded enough)... you can click it right there in the quest tracker.

Oh man, I had no idea. Thanks so much for mentioning that. D:

Yeah, I like it too...and if people don't realize it, you can in the Interface menu unlock the quest tracker to make it resizable and movable.
Calophi Apr 20th 2009 9:58AM
I never even noticed that the quest tracker was set up wrong, because I use Quest Helper and it puts the icon to the left of the quest text. I was super happy about having those item icons, though. :)

I was definitely happier after I discovered how to resize the quest tracking area, but disappointed when I realized it keeps reverting back to the default dimensions.
Warlock Apr 20th 2009 11:10AM
Re: Drager: No you can't. You can move it, but it is not resizable. Which means you can't read those quests.
I like the *idea* behind the new quest tracker, but it needs serious polish. Aside from cutting off the objectives (worst thing), I wish it wouldn't put like 3 spaces after any quest that has a quest-item displayed. I also wish I could set somewhere to remove completed quests from the tracker when they become complete.

I love the new quest tracker so I can click on the icons and right click on the names of quests to share, remove from tracking or check out the quest log details. I had to move it though as I prefer to see my quests on the left of my screen.
My icons don't cover any information so I don't have a problem viewing anything, but I imagine if that started happening I'd get pretty annoyed too. For me though it's a blessing so far.

You can right click on the NAME of the quest in the quest tracker to open up a drop down menu that includes choices like Share Quest and Stop Tracking.
I stop tracking quests when they are finished so I know which dailies I have left, and to clear up my UI.
You can also open up your usual quest log and click on quests there to make them show up in the quest tracker if they no longer show up because you have logged off or turned off tracking.

"You can move it, but it is not resizable."
You're just not clicking in the right place. Drag the bottom right corner and you can make it wide enough to show the entire objective. Then you can just check the little box in Interface Options to disable mouseover and it'll be locked in place.
I agree it still needs some serious tweaking though. It really should wrap around if the line is too long, not just cut it off. I like how I can track more than 5 quests now, but I'm still annoyed that I can only track quests that actually have objectives.
I've been using nQuestLog for a while, and I'm just used to seeing the summary for a quest if it doesn't have objectives, just so I'll remember to do that quest without looking it up in my quest log. I do like the ability to use the quest items directly from the tracker, but it doesn't have all of them (for example, for the "Hot and Cold" Hodir daily, I still have to open my bags).
I think this tracker still fails, I'll still be using a combination of nQuestLog and QBar for my questing needs.
