Bug fix patch with talent reset coming soon
Talent bugs have plagued players since patch 3.1 hit, with its dual spec system, last Tuesday. Blizzard knows this better than anyone; unfortunately, it's going to take a content patch to fix a lot of the weirdness that has been transpiring. Fortunately, they're working to get that patch out the door as soon as possible. The way they've been talking, my money's on patch 3.1.1 coming probably tomorrow, or failing that, next week.
Eyonix just posted that "in the next upcoming minor content patch," all talents are going to be wiped, but not glyphs. So (as he reminds us) make sure you put the right talents with the right glyphs, or you'll have to respec/reglyph to fix it. I would recommend waiting until tomorrow morning on any respec plans you might have (unless they're for tonight's raid), because there's a good chance you'll get it done for free in the morning.

Wonderful.... I just paid 10g to respec on my DK just because I misclicked 1 talent
Jeenome Apr 20th 2009 7:39PM
Yeah I just did the exact same thing but it was 2 points.
Jessamine Apr 20th 2009 7:43PM
10g... ><
Also, you can go into the interface options and turn on the setting where you can enter all your talents and then press 'Learn' to learn them all, saves you from having to spend 10g, snicker, on a respec...
Man I wish my respecs were 10g... ever...

Or you could have just set it in the options so you have to confirm your talent tree before setting it.
Hendrata Apr 20th 2009 7:52PM
Ohhhhh I didn't know about this option.... Thank you... I'll make sure to do it the next time around lol.... I remember I read about it on the PTR news from WI but I couldn't seem to find it

Not only do you get to preview your talent selection, but you also don't have to wait that damned 1s it takes to click the talent a second time.
It's minor, but it bugs the hell out of me. If you have a 5/5 talent you have to click like 10 times before it reads all 5 clicks. And god forbid you ever want to do like 4/5 in a talent. It's like "Click.... wait.... waaaait... Click. ... Wait.... waaaait..."

Wasn't easy to find. A guildie of mine had to tell me where to look for it. Glad to finally have the option... I wasted gold on misclicks before

Post-3.1, you get absolutely no sympathy. You should have known that you could turn on an option to preview before you set your points.

You get no sympathy from me pre 3.1... use Talented.

Funny enough, I just encountered this talent bug on my priest upon hitting level 48. Glad to hear a resolution is in the works.

Free respec =

Apparently WoWinsider doesn't like the shorthand for "love"

"Less than" sign = code = bad, mmkay
:)
Keyra Apr 20th 2009 11:05PM
Free respec...again?
Okay, is this wiping talent points for everyone, or only those who've dual specced?
Seriously, I just FIXED my talent tree. Grr...(logs on, grabs pen, finds paper that the cat hasn't played with, begins jotting)...okay, I goofed in a couple of places when I began reassigning, so...
Free respec? Cool.
Well, just as long as Blizz doesn't make a habit of this. :-)

""Less than" sign = code = bad, mmkay"
Like it's really that hard to replace a less than sign with & lt; and so forth. Maybe instead of having people continuously screwing up comments due to the expectation that people would happen to know that some symbols are used for html markup, they could actually just substitute things as intended. You know, ease of use for a website.
Then again considering the reply system of this site, that's obviously asking a lot.
jbodar Apr 21st 2009 8:56PM
@zappo
Totally agree. Hey, didn't Holisky say there would be a new comment system soon? Maybe it was someone else. Anyway, where is it?
Mortimin Apr 20th 2009 7:41PM
You know in the interface options, there is an option to preview talents before committing them. That way you can get your whole tree setup before you decide if it is correct or not.
epsilon343 Apr 20th 2009 7:41PM
Whatever happened to confirming talents before applying them? When I got dual specs I never saw that option pop up.
But whatever, I messed up a portion of my Elemental spec so I'll be able to fix it for free!!
Cuetip Apr 20th 2009 7:52PM
You must activate talent previews by going into the interface menu the under "dispaly" you will see an option called "preview talent changes" check that, hit done and there you go :)
epsilon343 Apr 20th 2009 8:01PM
Thanks, seems like it should be turned on by default but I'll make sure that is on from here on out.
