UPDATE: European weekly maintenance: Wednesday 22nd April 2009

Wednesday is, as always, maintenance day here in Europe and this morning is no different. While any realms escaped last week's post patch chaos, we still had problems so Blizzard are of course keen to fix them so we're going from 3.1 to 3.1.1 and, as usual, we have to wait an extra twemty four hours to get it. With this in mind, we've got an extended maintenance meaning all European realms are going to be down between 3am and 11am CET. However if US maintenance is anything to go by, prepared for it to be extended to 3pm CET.
Oh and just cause they're nice (and there were some er issues) everyone is getting a free respec tomorrow. Yep, all your talents get wiped so you get to spend the first half an hour of up-time sorting them all out. This doesn't include gylphs though, just FYI.
Anyway, in the mean time, why not check out some of the suggestions in yesterday's US post to kill some time? Alternatively, why not take a peek at the full patch notes here.
Update: Having been tipped off by a number of our European readers and just applied the patch myself, it seems while the weekly maintenance is still being listed all the realms are currently up.

I launch the game and it s downloading the patch until 70% and then nothin....

Has dear old Blizz given a reason why EU waits a day for patches?
I can only think it's the same deal as when StarWars/LOTR movies are globally released - Drowning in QQ from the US fanboys?

EU waits a day because if we both got maintenace at the same time we'd be cutting into peak hours on one or the other and someone has to go second no matter which way it goes.
It probably works out better this way for them, because if we weren't later we'd be significantly sooner and thus cutting dev time a little bit more before release.
I tihnk in the old days we used to get it first? I might be imagining it, i know it used to be on a silly day though that extended maintenace could trash a lot of peak hours. Fridays or something?

That glyph has been removed from the game, so yeah, that's gone from your tab.

They're just clarifying thart glyphs aren't reset and so when you get your free talent respec you should bear in mind your glyphs are already in place. Free respecs now run the risk of people respeccing blindly, forgetting which talent tab they're on and setting up the wrong spec for the glyphs they've got on that tab.

If it takes you more than 5 minutes to re-enter the same talents you had yesterday, you're doing something wrong.

Hopefully the EU rolling restarts will go better than the US ones did.
Frequently, Blizzard try to restart US and Oceanic realms at different times to account for play times. However, with the realms all being so intrinsically linked, sharing databases, etc, the Oceanic realms usually feel some sort of impact when the US realms are restarted - most often in the form of the "item servers" going down for 15 minutes, leaving us unable to loot, trade, buy, sell, use inventory, etc.
Tonight the battlegrounds were shut off in spectacular fashion, booting everyone in BGs out of the game, to then log back in falling through the "sky" below Crystalsong.. falling for quite some time, and discovering several zones in the process. Unfortunately, many of us were left dead at unspawnable invisible graveyards afterwards..

Earthen Ring (EU) was up by around 9am server time today - I was a little surprised, to say the least, after having heard about the extended downtime in the US yesterday.
