Neth wants to
know your guild's traditions over on the forums. We've talked about
funny guild moments and
traditions before as well, too, but there seems to be a never-ending supply of them. There are as many different memories out there as there are guilds, and each one is a little different: even all of the guilds I've joined up with for any significant amount of time (there have probably been four, I think, in my
WoW career? It's not that I'm a guild jumper, just that I've switched servers and factions a few times for various reasons) has had their own moods and well-known members and busy times and special things they do while raiding or leveling together.
While it would be great if Neth was asking this to
get some input on guild housing or the upcoming
guild battlegrounds features, she's probably just asking to hear it -- it's definitely fun to look inside the other groups in the game and see what they do the same and different. For
all of the drama that tends to attract our attention, the truth is that Blizzard's ad hoc ingame guild system has created some pretty strong ties between us. I like reading through that thread and seeing just what people have come up with just as much as Neth probably does.

One tradition we have is that whenever someone joins the guild, they are spammed with the message "TITS OR GTFO!" from all guild members online. Their reaction tends to forecast whether or not they'll be a good fit.

Seeing as I can't post over on the American forums, I'll post here.
One tradition in my guild is if someone makes a horribly noobish mistake (standing in the fire, falling to their death, etc) we put the Triangle mark on them and call it the Nubhat. Always good for raising morale during wipe nights.

The Nubhat.
LOL...actually laughed out loud at this...

lol the nubhat! That is awesome.
We call that yellow/gold round mark the "cheese nipple." We didn't invent it, one of our guildies heard it somewhere else and we adopted it. We have all developed a superstitious belief that if we don't put the cheese nipple on a boss, we will not be able to down them. Often we will wipe a couple of times until someone goes "hey, we forgot the cheese nipple!" And then the mark will go up and we'll succeed on the next attempt.

I call it the "Green Triangle of Shame" in my raids. But I like the dunce cap imagery more.

We have a noob square =)

Our guild calls it "the thong". It tends to weird the males out, which is delightful to us chicks.

After an hour or two of wiping on tough content, my guild has two traditions to raise morale. First of all, someone will say 'Earth!' and is then greeted with a chorus of 'Fire! Water! Air! Heart!' from the rest of the guildies, and then someone yells 'By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!' and we all sing the song in Vent.... If we're not feeling quite that ridiculous we just charge in with our battlecry of 'Let's bitch this shit!'
Tim Apr 22nd 2009 11:23PM
"Lets Bitch this Shit" Thats real funny. Unfortunately my guild doesn't allow cusses...but now ill ill yell this in my head. THANKS!

Back in my guild during the Molten Core days we'd all be raiding happily and fairly seriously. Then as we left the corpse of the second salamander boss (Sulfuron?) to head for Garr a random conversation would always start, not even on purpose. This quickly became known as the Random Straits, as we'd have conversations varying from favorite TV programs to how much our main tank sounded like he spoke Clanger fluently.
Ahh, happy days...

One of my old guilds ( We all parted ways when the amazing GM had to go) was mildly famous for its parties. Even now we still get together for random reasons, such as prizes, fun, and raids. Some of the best ones i remember are:
Pre Wrath party!, using old guild vent: Events included:
best costume,
duel on the floating isles (that was a hit),
mass Nagrand arena battle,
a 3 lap race of the NAGRAND SPEEDWAY (ever notice how the roads there form a circle.... right past Durn and the horde town?)
Also, we would clear old raids and make them party dungeons.
Quality times

Wow...that picture brings back memories. I love dead parrot society on my server, Baelgun. They've been around for so long and i know many members personally. Its great to see a picture of them on wowinsider

Whenever my guild manages a particularly satisfying battle, we all /train overlapping each other.

T-bagging any deaths in a raid....classic.

When we need to refocus after much fail, "TheFinal Countdown" is played over vent to bring us back together.
We're famous for shutting areas down before raid time, "closing" to allies. "Portal's Closed"
One of our DK's called DMB a crutch, so anytime anyone brings up a buff, addon, or lag, we respond with, "Might is a crutch" "Healing is a crutch."

1. One of our priests is easily bored. It's not considered an official raid until he dies, randomly, while out of combat. "Someone rez Stupidname" means it's gametime.
2. One guildmate has the RNG on lockdown - wins greed rolls like 80% of the time. It's now a drinking game - every time she wins a roll, everyone (player or character) takes a drink. My Dwarf priest's bar tab is bigger than his repair bill.

Our tradition for raiding applicants is that they are REQUIRED to sing on vent, preferably the Peanut Butter Jelly Time song.
Our tradition for new kills is always a screenshot of the group in front of our newly killed boss.

Back in Awen on Garona/Baelgun in pre-BC we used to sacrifice a gnome for good luck. Our Gnomes would run into the trash (or boss) and die. A gnome a day keeps the NexusStrike away.
