Neth wants to
know your guild's traditions over on the forums. We've talked about
funny guild moments and
traditions before as well, too, but there seems to be a never-ending supply of them. There are as many different memories out there as there are guilds, and each one is a little different: even all of the guilds I've joined up with for any significant amount of time (there have probably been four, I think, in my
WoW career? It's not that I'm a guild jumper, just that I've switched servers and factions a few times for various reasons) has had their own moods and well-known members and busy times and special things they do while raiding or leveling together.
While it would be great if Neth was asking this to
get some input on guild housing or the upcoming
guild battlegrounds features, she's probably just asking to hear it -- it's definitely fun to look inside the other groups in the game and see what they do the same and different. For
all of the drama that tends to attract our attention, the truth is that Blizzard's ad hoc ingame guild system has created some pretty strong ties between us. I like reading through that thread and seeing just what people have come up with just as much as Neth probably does.

When I eat a Fish Feast, I park myself on it and /y "ASS FISH!"
It makes it better.

I should also add that I get that response whenever I say ANYTHING in gchat.

one night our guild was having trouble with malygos phase 3. So after a few tries our guild leader yelled out "SUUUUUUPEEEEEEER STAAAACKS!!!" over vent, now whenever we have trouble with a boss we use it as our battlecry to get everyone laughing

We've started dropping train sets when a new boss is getting close to going down. If we then wipe, we call it. It's just Bad Mojo. Also we probably wiped on like 2% or 100k hp, and there's always tomorrow =P

My guild, Redemption of Kael'thas, has a fun event every so often. We have lvl 1 fun runs, where we all create random alts, and then run them from SW to Thunder Bluff. We station officers along the way, having them bring us items or complete a task .... and some officers have been known to hop over to their Horde alts to grief the runners. Winners get high level items from the gbank. A nice way to clean out some stuff :)

My guild's tradition is that I can't actually be in the guild to down content. It started with kicking me out just for the fun of it, but we realized that we were doing better in Kara when I was out. Once we were clearing ZA and wiped during the timer when we realized I was still in the guild when we tried. So they kicked me out twice, just for the luck.

We have Drunken Brawl Night. Participants get loaded up to the point that we can't really see the screen, then we raid opposing-faction towns, armed with might macros. My macro of choice?
/e smiles genially, then barfs on your shoes.

I remember when we were trying to down Illidan in my guild, and before each pull I would light and smoke a little bit from a gigantic cuban cigar I bought in Amsterdam when I met up with a few guildies. Not really a tradition as such, but supersticious nonsense all the same. (the cigar did actually dissappear before we got him down though)

Cuban cigar from AMSTERDAM??!?!??! Let me guess the dutch had not 'cured' the 'tobacco' properly cos it was still green! :)

Blame roll- lowest roll wins the blame, and if someone rolls a 100 they get to blame whoever they want for a wipe. Keeps people in a good mood after a billion wipes.
MageRez- someone who does not have a rez jumps up and down on a dead person in order to bring attention to whoever died.

Failing to dance on Heigan results in a demotion to "Strt White Male" for one week or until you desperately need your gbank privileges back.

Not so much traditions, but individual quirks;
We have a warlock who is really our warlock sacrifice; the raid can't go well unless he dies to pull aggro or random aoe. This far his new record was dying to fire six seconds into Razorscale encounter.
One of our paladin tanks had the uncanny habit of dying into falling almost every Karazhan run. Not so much in Naxx since it lacks the vertical surfaces.
We have a few people who start posting words from random, known songs in the /1. General of the raid dungeon we're in if they're bored because we're running back to Thaddius for the umpteenth time 'cause someone wasn't awake. As in "we're no strangers to love, you and me..." "What is love?" etc. - it usually incites interesting conversations if this happens during prime raiding time.

It is always my job to sing a song in vent with the word "Hero" in it for the shammies to pop heroism.

One of our guild MTs takes a shit before the weekend raids. "Baking brownies" at the porcelain altar is a ritual to appease the gods.
Emorich Apr 23rd 2009 2:08AM
i have no idea how this got started, but we blame everything, and i mean EVERYTHING on this one officer in my guild
"dammit, the server is crashing"
"I blame Ran"
csarcops Apr 23rd 2009 12:51PM
We do that too, basically we pick the first person to die and blame everything on them from there on out.
Also, my husband plays a bear, and it's his job to sit on members of the suicide squad (our overeager clothie tanks) when they die. It's especially funny when they're gnomes, the healers can't find them to rez them. :) "Where's O? Z, move your bear-ass so I can rez O..."
Evi Apr 23rd 2009 4:18PM
We do that, too. Poor guy doesn't even play the game anymore. ;) It really confuses the guild newbies!
Cyanea Apr 23rd 2009 2:56AM
My guild's tradition is to make fun of one of our officers. She respecced from MM to Survival and complained about her DPS for weeks...
...until she realized she forgot to visit the trainer to get upgrades for certain moves. There's even a scientific name for the condition.
valorous Apr 23rd 2009 3:18AM
jumping down off dalaran... naked.
lol
Healabit Apr 23rd 2009 3:56AM
My old guild had a tradition when we were working on a new raid boss. Someone would pop out the image of Vargoth and everyone had to lick him for luck. I swear it worked!
