There is some much welcomed news on the five player dungeon front tonight. Zarhym has confirmed that there will be a new five player dungeon in an upcoming patch. That dungeon, according to Zarhym, will be comparable to Magister's Terrace.No other information is provided on it, other than the promise for a preview when it's ready.
Magister's Terrace was released in Patch 2.4 and contained higher-than-normal item level equipment and weapons for players. Many people felt that Magsiter's Terrace was also the hardest 5-man dungeon introduced into the game at the time.
While there is no indication that this dungeon will be released with patch 3.2, I don't think it's a wild assumption to make. Blizzard has previously indicated a future patch will also contain a new battleground.

Luckily Uldum is easily accessible, should it be Uldum- hop into the portal to caverns of time, then just take a short ride.

Hopefully it will have something to offer to raiders, because I'd hate to just run it once, go 'that was cool' and never step foot in there again.

I hope it's not tuned for Raiders. Not everyone has the time or inclination for raiding, and creating a 5 man that requires 10 or 25 man gear would be just cruel.
I'd love to see a 5 man attached to Icecrown. Something that will feel like an "end game" for casuals, our way of defeating Arthas.
Please note that I am *not* asking for a watered down Arthas, or demanding a shot at Frostmourne or anything like that. All I want is what BC didn't really have, an end to the story for the non-raider.

I think you're stuck in BC era raiding Sean, no offense. It's not much harder to pull another 5 people and go stomp ass in Naxx than it is to pull 4 people to do a heroic. Hell, due to the amount of people who have done it, pulling a Naxx group together should be easy even if half of the players aren't properly geared.
Blizz noted how many people loved the ease of putting together a 10 man group and so they made Kara 10 man. They saw how much people loved Kara and decided to make all Wrath raids 10-mannable.
I was shocked at how easy it is to put a Naxx10 group together. Even compared to a Kara group right before Wrath's release it's shockingly easy.
If you can play for 2 hours, and can do a 5 man with no problem, let alone a heroic, you can raid in Wrath.
Would it be crueler to make an instance that requires better gear than current 5mans provide, or to make an instance that doesn't progress the difficulty of the game any further?
Once you hit level cap, difficulty = gear level. No one wants to do a new instance that rewards the same level of gear as current ones, they want some progress.
Try to round a Naxx10 up. It's surprisingly easy and quite casual friendly.

All my 5 man pugs are 3/5ths 25 man geared. I don't really get them like that, it just seems to happen.
Also, I CRAVE the challenge of a new 5-man. Hell, if 3.2 was JUST 5man's (say 3 or 4) it would garner tremendous applause.

But I think Seans point is that he's not a raider because he doesnt have 2 hours to allow continuous play.
I'm one of those non raiders. I dont have 2 hours to raid, certainly not at the casual times I'm playing at. I've found heroics to be alot better, only requiring about an hour of play, if you're unlucky or doing Oculus.

New content and storyline and a heroic mode would be about it, I would guess. Raiders looking for challenges: I thought that was what heroic modes were for. Barring that, just take less people, or twiddle thumbs until 3.2

Exactly right. I have been in 10 man Naxx, though I have not finished it. I work second shift, so I am at work when my guild (and most of the server) is raiding.
But when i do get on, I can almost always pull together enough guildies to run a quick Heroic.
Blizz always said 10 man and 25 man raids were on separate progression tracks, so you didn't need to do 25 man Naxx to do 10 man Ulduar. From that it should follow that a 5 man should only require gear available from 5 mans.

I imagine the dungeon will be tuned to be about as hard as a heroic on normal difficulty and would reward emblems of valor whilst the heroic mode coul then be extra hard for other raiders and also rewards emblems of conquest... it'd be nice to have more than one place to get those Conquest emblems.

That was how MgT was, pretty much.
I only ever did heroic dungeons before I went and started to heal through terrace. It was hard, but incredibly fun and rewarding, helping to gear me up for raiding later.
I thoroughly loved MgT, and did run it whenever I could, even after I didn't need anything from there anymore.

Good lord, has anyone actually done naxx pugs that turn out well? Usually its a total joke because 90% don't know the fights, and 100% are not well geared, or even appropriately geared. Trying to get 10 strangers to do things very cohesively like Naxx demands (if not uber-geared) is a lesson in frustration. And why on earth would a fully geared person do a naxx PUG? Kara PUGs were the same way, even at the end. Sure, everyone was better geared, but the thought of CC, attacking the proper target, all that fell by the wayside as 'just get a paly tank and AOE everything' came into vogue.
Lastly, try getting a good naxx pug as a dps. I've been trying since release, and have never got into a Naxx pug on my hunter. I'd kill, i'd even pay 1000g, to run naxx through on my hunter (having done many full clears of naxx on my druid, i know my stuff). Won't happen. The world has way too many hunters and DKs who don't have a clue.
So yeah, if you aren't a main tank or healer, please tell me how getting a good naxx pug is as easy as getting a heroic group together. Because we all want to know.

Valid argument Sean, Colerejuste, and Rob, except for two points:
I work 45-60 hours a week, depending on whether I need to fill someone else's shift, and I work second, sometimes third shift. On average I get home at 12, and don't get on WoW til 2/3am. On an East coast server (where I live). None of my guildies will be on, save one or two fellow nighttimers. I don't play for very long when I do get on, either. I aim for two hours, sometimes three if I'm feeling KARAZY.
Yet I manage to pug Naxx10 with no issue. I've had a few bad runs, yes, but for the most part it wasn't bad. If YOU know the encounters (which go to youtube and look up any How To) then you can teach other people. It's what I do, and it turns out fairly well. The only fight that EVERYONE seems to just do awfully at is Heigan. As a melee DPS, I make sure I've got a mark above me and just try to get everyone to follow me. It can be awful. I've gotten through it with pugs though. If one person knows what they're doing, everyone else can just follow suit and learn.
I think there's a major issue with the hardcore players saying "OMG RAIDS TOO EASY!" and the casual players going "OMG RAIDS TOO HARD!". I don't think Naxx is too easy, it's just the playerbase knew what they were doing LONG in advance. And I don't think it's too hard, it's certainly easier than The Oculus is for most first timers.
My fiance has similar issues to what you've described, and I sat her down and told her exactly what I'm about to tell you: If you really want it, you'll really get it. It's that simple. You can't expect someone else to run you through it, you've got to run others through it. Take charge!
And yes, Rob, Kara pugs were AWFUL, horrible, just the absolute worst. But Naxx is 10x easier than Kara was.

I "PUG" naxx10 with about 4 guild members & the rest is friends, folks on other people's friends list, or from LFG.
Full clear on the last two runs.
There are a lot of folks who have run on their main, but not alt that either have their main in their guilds run, or their guild no longer runs naxx10.
I don't know how pugable a 25 is...
