Spoilers: Further Algalon the Observer details
Again, this post contains spoilers for the raid dungeon Ulduar. If you don't want to be spoiled, do not read further or watch the attached video. You have been warned.
Yesterday we posted up a preview of the first glimpse of Algalon the Observer courtesy of Wraith on EU-Ysondre. Now we come with video (which you can see under the cut below or by clicking the picture above) from EU-Ravencrest's Underground Kosmonavts. It's brief and you don't get to see much, but it still shows Algalon in motion. His intro takes up a majority of the video, and I expect that intro will be a point of frustration for guilds trying to learn him. Have 10 minutes left to kill him for the week, and he takes 1-2 minutes to jabber on about reorigination? Yeah, that'll drive ya nuts.
MMO-Champion also has a list of Algalon's abilities, though we don't have much context in which to put them yet. The only context I need, though? They look really, really painful.

For once "world-firsts" will mean something, as they'll go to the guild who kills him in the least amount of time spent trying, rather than the guild who can set aside the most amount of spare time in the weeks after the patch.
It's a great mechanic, and I'm betting right now that the world-first won't be any of the guilds that usually get them.

I absolutely agree, it is going to be interesting to watch. A lot of the top guilds have amazing players but, the world firsts are more to the fact that they all took off work and played for 3 days straight or something.

Has anybody else heard the sound files for him? He sounds awesome.

Wow, I got chills listening to that. Ill probably never get to experience the encounter, but it seems awesome just from listening to Algalon and Rhonin talk about the end of the world.

I think we need to re-define the word "epic." Wowza.

That was awesome. Thanks for posting that.
As a commenter on YouTube put, it's like a combination of the Silver Surfer and Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen. Great stuff.
Spoilerish:
Looking at the images of Algalon, I can't help but wonder if that's what the Titans themselves look like. Similar to the images of them that appear as decor in HoL.

Is there an enrage timer or anything? Otherwise couldn't you just stack the raid with heals and take him out really slowly?
Matthew Rossi Apr 22nd 2009 6:25PM
If I understand it correctly, you have one hour a week to finish him, and that's it. If you try and stack the raid with heals and take him out slowly, he'll despawn and that's your shot for the week.
ballistic3188 Apr 22nd 2009 6:29PM
nope.
most of his abilities seem to one shot people if you mess up. even then regen has been nerfed so they can't keep going on forever.
Azhariel Apr 22nd 2009 7:27PM
Actually, I heard that you have one hour per day..
1h/week would be insane, even for the most hardcore of the hardcore.
Xavs Apr 22nd 2009 7:51PM
It is indeed 1 hour per Raid Lockout Period (AKA a week).

He seems to be like Emalon. You either do things right or you wipe.
David Whyld Apr 22nd 2009 7:20PM
In other words, like every other boss in the game?
Grubba Apr 23rd 2009 1:42AM
If you think that's true, you haven't been in very many boss fights.
Kirtan Apr 22nd 2009 7:31PM
Meh, what ticks me off by movies, is that they just have to put in some music, instead of letting us hear the in-game audio, to make it hear more epic. =/
Muse Apr 22nd 2009 7:41PM
After hearing the sounds from the Algalon encounter, I think I may have to drop the Sue at the end of Rhonin's name. (tip: keep the war against the Lich King in mind when he delivers his speech)

I find it interesting that you talk about his long winded wind up and then play the video everyone on YouTube was bitching about because the club music covered up what he says and the sound effects from the fight.
Looks like a bad-ass fight and from what I've found (but not seen firsthand) his death speech is also pretty epic.
