The Queue: Druids are cats, too

Dear Alex,
Thanks for making nearly all the comments and questions in yesterday's Queue about cats and dogs.
Yours,
Adam.
Geekycole asked...
"Do you guys have any news on a fresh realm opening up?"
No new realms right now. This was just reiterated today.
Mijit asked...
"Do we know if the Argent Tournament dailies count for the quest achievement for Ice Crown?"
They do not.
Steven asked...
"I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but is there any news on new druid skins?"
No news. Still promised, still not delivered. I think the druid forums are turning into vaporware.
Kreedis asked...
"When do they expect the Armory information to update?"
Blizzard constantly reminds us that the Armory is in beta and we should expect beta like behavior, like not updating in a timely manner. I think it'll come out of beta about the time GMail comes out of beta.
Supracom asked...
"I'm a dog person. But my girlfriend has convinced me to get a cat, since my new apartment doesn't charge a pet deposit. Now taking recommendations for cute kittens!"
My cat is cute. We picked him up as a stray about a year and a half ago, and our Senior Cat Correspondent Dan O'Halloran pegged him as part Russian Blue the other day.

Please adopt. There are enough animals on their way to death without people paying for, or making more animals.
No spirit rez for them. :(

Agreed... I know myself, adopting pets is just as great as just getting a baby.
There was a cat who used to hang around outside my house. My family appropriately named him Hobo. But, as we put out food for him, his matted grey fur turned into a awesome-looking black and white fur tuxedo. His name somehow changed into Lucky. When we moved house, we decided to take him with us. Now he's a very friendly, happy house cat.

Sorry, I adopted before and never will again, it was almost as worse as getting a pet from one of those mall pet stores. It was just one of the experiences I don't want to repeat...

I second the adopting notion. It always saddens me when they have to put down animals simply because no one would adopt them.

I completely agree!
Adopt a cat, look on craigslist and all that. You can still find kittens all the time, but you dont want to go buy a cat from a store where they are bred when you can give a cat a good home who might not find one otherwise.

We have 2 rescue cats and they're wonderful. Just make sure you name them something cool. Ours are Optimus Prime(we call him Opie) and Marvin(the paranoid android a la Hitchhikers guide the the Universe).

Yup, that's definitely a Russian Blue that was linked. They're my favorite cat breed!
As stated above, it doesn't matter much what kind you get, just go to your nearest rescue shelter and adopt one you like. I've had two cats and two dogs that were all rescue animals, and they were the best pets anyone could ask for. I had to find new homes for the cats, but the dogs are still great!
Do a good deed and adopt a rescue kitty. You'll feel a lot better for it, and they tend to be better pets as well.

Yes, please adopt!! I adopted my cat when she brought kittens up to my door. I got all of the 4 kittens adopted out to good homes and took her in since she was alone and helpless during winter. The first month or so was TOUGH, REALLY TOUGH, however, looking back 6 or so months ago, I don't regret a damn thing!

Oi! Optimus Prime is MY cat's name! Supposedly her nick name is Primie, but we really just call her The Puss.
We got her from the local animal shelter when she was about 6-7 months old, so not exactly a kitten but still very kittenish. We were warned she was pretty skeptical of people. Total balderdash, she loves people and is very affectionate!
Adopt, adopt! And if you do like us and get a slightly older cat, you avoid all the annoying kitten behavior like not understanding the litter box and such.

Petfinder FTW. I found a great dog that way, but they have every type of animal listed and most of the times they have some good info about the animal so you don't waste your time and the shelters time.

I found a lady on craigslist giving away kittens because she just didn't have room.
Please adopt. I got little Lia just a few months ago and she is the best thing ever. Even when she jumps on my keyboard and makes me run into the blue fire on razergore.
Also, Pet Smart (if you have it in your area) has a great affordable way to get your cats fixed and all the shots and bloodwork done. Banfield. Best money I have ever spent to keep my little lady happy.
There is also a Belf rogue on Gul'Dan with her full name because she likes to sneak up and double claw and bite my legs... very mutilate-esque

I just discovered that I can't spend more than five minutes on Petfinder because I become horribly sad. Poor kitties!

I didnt adopt, but a stray (pure jet black) kitten (barely weaned) appeared on my doorstep, on halloween, and it being a very VERY friendly and cute thing, i took it in, thinking some small child had lost it. I ended up very happy to find out it was from a cross between a feral mother and housecat farther later, and noones pet. He just ran into my house past me, onto my sofa and stayed there purring, not afraid at all. It was meant to be i think. That was over 2 years now, and ive got a HUGE soft bundle of fur (he keeps my feet warm when i play wow), that is lovely and very loving.

agree on the adoption UNLESS you plan to get the thing declawed which while cruel is probably crueler to do to a cat when its older and has been used to claws thier whole life
Halgy Apr 23rd 2009 10:13AM
For sure. If you don't want to get one used (e.g. from the Humane Society...my little joke), just look in the paper for free kittens or ask neighbors. I live in a town of 500 and there is always someone with free kittens, so if you live someplace that is actually populated you have no excuse.
And apparently if the mother is house trained, the kittens will be by the time they are old enough to leave. Surprised the hell out of me.

Watch out... We all know what Voltare says about kittens...
Aceyalone Apr 22nd 2009 4:30PM
I believe you mean "Voltaire"
Kakistocracy Apr 22nd 2009 4:32PM
I do indeed, but there isn't an option to edit, and something as trivial as this hardly seems worth proof reading, eh?
That said, I didn't mean to suggest we should adopt a more phonetic scheme of transliteration.
Zrob Apr 22nd 2009 5:21PM
Personally I believe he means "Voltron"
Kakistocracy Apr 22nd 2009 5:26PM
Well... If he also said "When we would be tender, we say... my kitten, though this animal is famed for treachery", then maybe, if not, then not.
