Rolling restarts for April 23rd, 2009
Another round of rolling restarts will be hitting realms in a few hours, starting at 5 AM PDT. Rolling restarts tend to be relatively painless, so you can probably expect your home server to be back up within a few short minutes unless they're doing something other than the simple restarts. These restarts have been happening very frequently lately, but as long as they're helping realm stability I really can't complain. For all the trouble Patch 3.1 has been, they're certainly working pretty hard to get things under control, and I can respect that.

If that can help wth the bugged-to-the-bone dual spec :]

I agree and also hopefully it stops crashing on Dawnbringer -US. I've been getting dropped at least once a day since 3.1 came.

I don't mind TOO much. These restarts make hunting books for the Higher Learning achievement just a little bit easier. Each time, books appear to respawn. Usually one or two of the spawn points seem to have real books. I got one I was missing just this past morning after the restart. =)

Same here, I just wish they'd happen when I was home so I could take advantage of it.
This is good for any Hunter trying to tame a Spirit Beast too.

As long as they don't eff with my talent points anymore I'm cool with it...

The restarts are for the daily hotfixes and not so much about stability.

I wonder after how many server crashes blizzard decide to do an official restart...

Was there a mini patch this morning? My PC's processing strain shot up this morning and was making more fan noise than yesterday. Tuning the graphics texture options down helped but only a little. Tinkering ain't wise unless its 100% efficient, and now the game is getting too heavy for even a 2.0+ ghz dual core PC, especially after the weird little patch this A.M. QQ.

Yup, WoW's become terribly inefficient lately. I've been running the addon DynamicPerformance just to be able to scrape by. Updated graphics engine NOW!

Yup - there was a mini patch.
And yup - WoW seems to be becoming more and more of a hog to run. I'm not very techie so apart from lowering my graphics options I've no idea what to do to make it run smoother.

I've talked to the WOW's server ... it hates me :-/

Was odd, yesterday respecced my DK after 3.1.1. Logged in today and both specs were fine, nothing unusual. Log off later for awhile then when i get back on i only have 1 of the 2 specs. So hard to redo my 2nd spec AGAIN :/

Except when they break Ghouls and Ulduar Motorcycle horns

I really hope my rogue will get her talent points back this time. They disappeared completely the other day. No points in the tree, no points available to spend. This hasn't happened to any of my other toons. Yesterday's restart didn't help.

Well the servers are restarting anyway. Various world servers on Exodar-US has been restarting daily around 11:45PM since the patch.
And I've had dual spec points randomly go away or one spec copy to another and other weirdness. Not sure why it's so hard for them to track the dual spec.

I just don't understand why they pushed 3.1 out when they did. The day of, no one could play, the days after, many of the new features were completely bugged and even now, we've had restarts nearly daily that have cropped up /more/ bugs. We'd been waiting months, what would one or two more weeks have mattered?
Turlagh Apr 23rd 2009 9:57AM
My frame rate in Storm Peaks dropped as low as 11 this morning after the restart.

I understand the need to fix bugs, glitches, etc., but what I don't understand is why they don't do these wonderful restarts at 3am when the least amount of people are on. Starting them at 5am means that on the East coast it's 9am, people who are not working/going to school, etc. are screwed until after lunch. This is assuming that the repairs will only take 3 hours or so.
This downtime affects my game time, robbing me of my already-paid-for time, and (from what I understand) one of the reasons that Blizzard was reported to the BBB.

Timing restarts is not simple because a lot of Oceanics play on US servers, and 3am CST is ~8pm in Australia - prime time.
I had my first problem with a disappearing spec yesterday, after the 3.1.1 patch that was supposed to fix it. My second spec disappeared and I had no points to spend. Eventually with logging, restarting, and switching my active spec I was able to reassign the points and they are ok for now. Looks like I need the Talented mod to save my specs.
My main problem since 3.1 has been random lag spikes; I can't tie it to a zone or action so far (but it is not instances or raids because I've not ventured to do that yet since 3.1). I've updated my mods (Healbot and DBM). My wife had graphic flashes and had to turn off all the shading to even play.
