Friday's in-game fixes
Self: "Self, I wonder if there's any more in-game fixes for today."Self: "I don't know Self, let me go look."
Self looks around.
Self: "Why look at that self, there is!"
It's not weird that I'm talking to myself in a disconnected third person voice, is it? Perhaps all these fixes are getting to my head.
The changes announced late last night are not as prevalent as other days, but are still important none the less. Some of the more interesting fixes for today include:
- The damage of XT-002 Deconstructor's Gravity Bomb ability has been reduced.
- The trash mobs before XT-002 Deconstructor have gone through additional changes that should make them a little easier to get through.
- The Rogue talent Savage Combat should now properly be removed after leaving an arena match.
- Fear Ward will now properly be consumed whether a player is sitting or standing.
- The Rogue talent Savage Combat should now properly be removed after leaving an arena match.
- Greater Blessing of Wisdom and Mana Spring Totem will no longer stack as intended.
- The trash mobs before XT-002 Deconstructor have gone through additional changes that should make them a little easier to get through.
- The Ocular in Icecrown should be killable again using the quest item Eyesoar Blaster.
- The quests "Shatter the Shards" and "The Guardians of Corp'rethar" should be completable again whether or not you are involved in Argent Tournament quests.
- The trash mobs before Mimiron have gone through additional changes that should make them a little easier to get through.
- The Priest ability Serendipity is now properly consumed when a spell finishes casting and does not affect a second spell.
- Nature';s Swiftness should properly affect Rebirth.
- The damage of XT-002 Deconstructor's Gravity Bomb ability has been reduced.

stop nerfing ulduar!!

I think they are going for eventual pug-ability....sadly..

Obviously the information they're seeing is warranting these changes.
Blizzard wants all the raids to be accessed by most of the raiding population. If they make a raid instance too difficult then it's against their design philosophy. If you've cleared it before nerfs, good for you, congratulations (and I mean it). But don't get your panties in a bunch because Blizzard has decided that an encounter that was tested by some of the best players in the world using items that bring them up to Blizzard's expectations for gear turned out a little too difficult for the majority of the population.

The trash before XT was already a joke why nerf it more? Same goes for XT. I didn't think that fight could get any easier after the first nerf.
dfgreat1 Apr 24th 2009 2:32PM
are you talking 10-man or 25?
I could see 10 being considered a joke, but 25 was sure not.
In the end I really don't care how much they nerf trash, but nerfing the bosses too much would just take the feeling of accomplishment out of it.
Taladan Apr 24th 2009 5:31PM
Well, think that Ulduar was supposed to be HARD and they constantly nerf things there. Soon enough, it will be as easy as everything else.

I'm starting to get used to seeing small hotfixes every day. "It's Saturday which means rolling restart. Oh hey, they changed X and Y again. Well back to the game"
Kerag Apr 24th 2009 2:06PM
wow,
They are nerfing this faster then ever.. Come on Blizz that first night on XT trash was crazy fun and challenging.... None of it was impossible if you had a clue what you were doing it was fine. We don't need another NAXX.
Yet another thing nerfed because of the forum QQers
Karilyn Apr 24th 2009 2:19PM
There's a realistic point where the trash cannot be significantly harder than bosses...
Which, creates a problem... Blizzard wants the game to be playable on hard mode and easy mode? Well, the trash has to be tuned for easy mode, so it doesn't completely steamroll the players who can't complete hard mode.
I wonder if there would be a way for Blizzard to make a guild have to complete a set of hardmode trash before they could fight a hardmode boss?
dfgreat1 Apr 24th 2009 2:34PM
that's a good idea
Etinfall Apr 24th 2009 4:03PM
Come on guys! I am sooo tired of all this QQing!!!
I am a casual player. I do not have time to raid. They are making it so I can solo this place in the hour a week that I can play. If you don't like it, go back to Space Invaders where the real challenge is!
/end sarc
seanfury Apr 24th 2009 2:14PM
No, they're nerfing Ulduar front and back because Blizzard decided it would be smart to watch the top-end raiding guilds like hawks and then when the normal little guilds hit it like a roadblock, Blizz is like OOPS, SOZ GAIZ.
Darkinstine Apr 24th 2009 2:15PM
We were unable to get through the first boss in Ulduar due to our mix and not really being speced right ie. less than ideal gear. However it was a frikkin blast! It was hard for us but not to the point of wanting to quit. Now we are working harder than ever to get what we need to do the job. When a guildie that I got to launch took out the turret and got the first guild achievement for this instance we were whooping like a bunch of 10 year olds. It was great. And we are a casual raiding guild in case anyone was wondering. Don't nerf it! Leave it alone! Give us a challenge for crying out loud. If we never make it to the end who cares? At least we tried and accomplished something.
Morcego Apr 24th 2009 2:29PM
Who said you are not going to make it to the end. The more the challenge, the longer it will take, is all.
I for one don't want to clear Ulduar in 1 month. Give us 5+ months of entertaining, and I will be happy.
zappo Apr 24th 2009 2:53PM
Morcego - I think you're sort of missing the bigger picture though. The new raiding scheme is a lot like "no child left behind". Blizzard WANTS us to all get through with a decent margin before the next patch so that people can actually get through the next encounter. You'd generally want your average guild to be through for around a month (farm) and wait for some back end stragglers. If everyone is JUST pulling through Uldar when 3.2 comes out, a lot of guilds are probably going to end up broken as people jump ship for more advancement, thus stranding others and so forth. I think Blizzard would like to see people stay within groups and enjoy raiding with friends (more incentive to keep playing).

"The damage of XT-002 Deconstructor's Gravity Bomb ability has been reduced."
Why?
/sigh
Kerag said:
"that first night on XT trash was crazy fun and challenging.... "
Exactly. Our RL said, "Just get lazy aoe's out of your head with Ulduar trash. It ain't happening. Ever."
Guess we will after all, at this rate.
/agree /w everyone: "QUIT NERFING SHIT!"
Nadril Apr 24th 2009 3:02PM
Yeah I thought the trash was a refreshing change of pace beyond "AoE the hell out of this" or "poly this, attack this, tank that".
Nadril Apr 24th 2009 2:18PM
Do they really think XT-002 needs any more nerfs? Your group should never get hit by gravity bomb unless:
A. They're retarded
B. You get EXTREMELY UNLUCKY with a grav bomb right as a tantrum goes off, but even then it is possible to get away.
Erwin Apr 24th 2009 2:43PM
Are you stupid? We run 2 25 man ulduar runs and XT has hit someone with GB and Tantrum each time. Having that amount of damage is retarded.
That is not challenging, it is just killing off players because it is not tuned.
The bugged trash pulling a dozen robots at once what challenging? That is also retarded.
Nerfing untested trash content is not a bad thing as you still then have to defeat the boss.
We joke in our guild that some trash mobs should drop badges/ilvl219 epics as they are stupid retarded.
Quit whining about it and comeback when you have defeated all the hard modes of all the bosses in ulduar.
Nadril Apr 24th 2009 3:00PM
Gravity bomb does not do that much damage to the player, and they have ample time to move out of the way. The only time it may kill a person is during tantrum which shouldn't happen (although it bugs out occasionally).
The trash before XT-002 is different. The stratagy is you actually have your raid move far, far back and then have something like a druid kite it. The little mechanical gnomes that pop those shields up move VERY VERY SLOW giving you ample time to just aoe down the rest of the easy trash (just make sure to watch out and kill razorblade). You can then deal with gnomes easily.
really the trash was different, not impossible. Yes, my guild wiped on it 3 times before figuring out what to do.
And as far as the "lol go do hard modes" argument... just stop it. It's a stupid argument in this case because I'm not complaining about the overall difficulty of ulduar, I'm just stating that XT-002 was perfectly fine for an average raiding guild to take down. I am in no way a part of an amazing guild. We have 6 bosses down in Ulduar 25 right now which compared to top guild progression is a bit behind.
Really my only point is that XT-002 doesn't need to be nerfed anymore. Gravity bomb is an easy mechanic to deal with, its people who don't move that pay the price.
