Friday's in-game fixes
Self: "Self, I wonder if there's any more in-game fixes for today."Self: "I don't know Self, let me go look."
Self looks around.
Self: "Why look at that self, there is!"
It's not weird that I'm talking to myself in a disconnected third person voice, is it? Perhaps all these fixes are getting to my head.
The changes announced late last night are not as prevalent as other days, but are still important none the less. Some of the more interesting fixes for today include:
- The damage of XT-002 Deconstructor's Gravity Bomb ability has been reduced.
- The trash mobs before XT-002 Deconstructor have gone through additional changes that should make them a little easier to get through.
- The Rogue talent Savage Combat should now properly be removed after leaving an arena match.
- Fear Ward will now properly be consumed whether a player is sitting or standing.
- The Rogue talent Savage Combat should now properly be removed after leaving an arena match.
- Greater Blessing of Wisdom and Mana Spring Totem will no longer stack as intended.
- The trash mobs before XT-002 Deconstructor have gone through additional changes that should make them a little easier to get through.
- The Ocular in Icecrown should be killable again using the quest item Eyesoar Blaster.
- The quests "Shatter the Shards" and "The Guardians of Corp'rethar" should be completable again whether or not you are involved in Argent Tournament quests.
- The trash mobs before Mimiron have gone through additional changes that should make them a little easier to get through.
- The Priest ability Serendipity is now properly consumed when a spell finishes casting and does not affect a second spell.
- Nature';s Swiftness should properly affect Rebirth.
- The damage of XT-002 Deconstructor's Gravity Bomb ability has been reduced.

"The trash before XT-002 is different. The stratagy is you actually have your raid move far, far back and then have something like a druid kite it. The little mechanical gnomes that pop those shields up move VERY VERY SLOW giving you ample time to just aoe down the rest of the easy trash (just make sure to watch out and kill razorblade). You can then deal with gnomes easily."
They actually didn't move slow, they were clearly bugged out. Once we dealt with the bots we moved to the gnomes and they were kind of spazzing out spam casting the defensive shield in packs of 2 (which never actually went up until we started attacking them). Considering that they spazz out when they try to exit XT's room and move perfectly fine when you try to engage them from inside the room I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's wasn't intended to do the kite to Vael's room strat.

It's easier to have a hunter or mage kite the gnomes away from the group, take out the salvager (they throw the saws, doing a lot of dmg), then take them out one by one, having the kiters bring the gnomes back last.

For us it just looked like their mechanic is to just cast that shield every few seconds or so. Bug or not I thought it was interesting.

Gtfo. Ulduar is rough on guilds that only faced 10 man content. The hard modes are for players that want a bigger challenge. If you think Ulduar is easy, you're one of the gifted few.

But no word on the continuing problems with talent points disappearing?
I've had to re-talent ever other day this week, and it's getting old in a hurry.
Josin Apr 24th 2009 2:23PM
Agreed. Fix the talent bugs already!

I don't know, I'm fairly new to the game, so it's been nice to be able to experiment with several different specs for free. *shrug*

zomg Blizz, quit nerfing the measure of my manhood!!!
zappo Apr 24th 2009 2:55PM
Saying 6 inches is smaller and smaller might work to your advantage though.

I can't say I agree with the people saying the trash before XT was a joke. It was not, for 99% of the guilds.
However, I agree it should not have been nerfed. My guild had a wonderful time there trying to figure out all the pulls and everything, even with a few wipes. The most common comment was on the line of: finally, a raid worth attending. Same thing with the trash before Ignis. Having to figure out a strategy and actually use your brain for trash ? We loved it. No more AoE tank + AoE damage pulls, please.
WE DON'T WANT ANOTHER NAXX!

I think a lot of guilds went through the same thought process as mine did:
1) Hmm... lets just try this. Ok you tank this, you tank that. Lets kill the healers first, they sound important.
.. OK WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS TRASH *dies in like 10 seconds*
2) Ok lets move them out of those shield things.
Of course mobs are stubborn and we die again
3) Ok maybe INTERUPT THE CASTS!
Can't interupt.
4) Finally someone finds out that you need to kite them. We all move back and have our druid pull. Soon we see our druid come up on the horizon with a train of mobs and just start laughing our asses off. We end up killing them, somewhat sloppy but doable.
"hmm.. where are the little guys?" We go back there and they've moved like 20 feet. Really funny, actually.
Than second trash pull we do same strat and realize how easy they are once you figure out the mechanic.

I just had an idea.
I wonder if I just stand sitting around in front of Ulduar, I will get any loot.
I mean, they way Blizzard is going, next thing we know the bosses will be killing themselves, and getting some minions walk outside and hand us the loot.

XT-002 and it's trash didn't need any nerfing. Mimiron's trash didn't need nerfing. In both cases it's simply a matter of dealing with things in a different way than in Naxx.
Mimiron himself needs some bugfixing in phase 4 because of the way his sections currently interact sometimes but that's all Ulduar really needs.
Tinwhisker Apr 24th 2009 2:37PM
Oh, and there's a list of mobs that need their hit boxes adjusted too.
Saint Apr 24th 2009 2:43PM
Hey! Wasn't I making "talking in third person" jokes just yesterday?
Why yes I was!
MUTINY I SAY, MUTINY!
Wasuremono Apr 24th 2009 2:47PM
Your group is a gravity bomb if you think forum QQ is a legitmatie pizza time. I don'tthink gravity well or light bomb or whatever you want to blame the nerfs on are what forum trash is complaining about. That is what should be nerfed if you know the truth.
WB Apr 24th 2009 3:03PM
Still no fix for Loremaster...
Sitting at 705 / 700 with no achievement for Eastern Kingdom.
Was kinda hoping that was easy enough to push through early but looks like it'll just sit on the backburner
Myria Apr 24th 2009 3:13PM
Ol' Yoggy must be getting deaf from the noise the nerf bat constantly hitting Ulduar must be making.
Prison for an old god? It'll be as easy as playskool Naxx long before the next patch.
Remember, no short bus left behind...

It's shame you're taking BRK's style of writing.
