Val'anyr stats discovered [updated]

You can see the item's tooltip with stats at the right. They took a safe route and gave it a bunch of unobjectionable stats; there isn't a healer out there who can't use more Int or spell power, and haste is also pretty universal. Crit is potentially less useful for resto druids than for the other classes, but I'm sure druids won't be turning the mace down, either.
The other interesting thing about the stats is the lack of regen: no spirit, no mana per 5. This means that aside from the proc, there's nothing healer-specific about it (not that spirit is even really healer-specific these days). Of course, the proc is plenty to guarantee that the weapon goes solely to healers until they've all got theirs.
What I'm curious about is how long until we see one of these things on the realms. Have any of you readers been collecting fragments? How many do you have?

I was going to say before I read after the break...
WTF. No regen? Now all those ranged mana based dps will roll.... ;)

indeed

Only 2 have dropped for us so far, with almost clearing Ulduar last and this week. SIGH
JL Apr 24th 2009 6:08PM
Chuck Norris created Val'anyr with his bare hands
Eric Apr 25th 2009 2:42PM
Chuck Norris is lame like FDR's legs.

But the part to throw it into ole Yoggy is part of a quest. The item you loot afterwards is likely just a quest item you turn in at the console where you got the quest. And the reward from that quest could be diffent.

I fail (but only slightly more than whoever designed this comments section). Put this reply with the clusterfuck of other responses to the comment below.

WTF? Comparing to http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=45147 the second best mace... that is so underwhelming. The proc is the only thing useful. In fact, it has LESS int then the staff of endless winter...
Basically, aside from the proc, only good for Pallies. >_> Shitty as hell for Druids.
elvendude Apr 24th 2009 6:17PM
"only", huh? Man, and what a shitty proc.
Oh, and there's a little bit of crit on it too. But that doesn't count for anything.
Unless you are a druid, you fail at theorycrafting. Just sayin'.
romiress Apr 24th 2009 6:21PM
The image beside my name might not give anything away, amirite? Spirit is a major component of druid stats. Meanwhile, Pally's want stuff without spirit, but with lots of int. Crit and Haste are okay for druids, but a gob of spirit would be much better.
Ultranator Apr 24th 2009 6:23PM
Of course it has less int then a staff. You can equip a shield or an off hand to make more int and stam.
Sophey Apr 24th 2009 6:27PM
You can't compare a one-hand mace to a staff in terms of pure stats, even as a legendary it's going to have less because it can be used with an off-hand that also has stats.
Ger Apr 24th 2009 6:29PM
Only good for Pallies huh?
Ever hear of Resto Shamans or Priests?
I would miss the mana regen but that can be made up on other gear.
romiress Apr 24th 2009 6:36PM
So, given the option, you wouldn't choose to itemize it differently?
Alkaios Apr 24th 2009 7:14PM
@romiress: QQ moar
Not every item will make a druid healer masturbate furiously after seeing a preview of it. Changing an item's stats per-class defeats the point of it being "legendary" (despite the fact that Atiesh had different versions...).
Bjern Fita made an excellent point in another comment:
"when I hear someone say 'I expect a little more' I process it as 'I want perfect stat allocation'.
This isn't end game. The dev's are feeding you sub-standard (albeit good) stats so the fuck-off awesome oranges in Icecrown (we're miles off the end of Wrath remember) really knock your socks off.
do you want +1 to all stats when you go up a tier or something exciting?"
Every healing class can find a use for haste. Every healing class has some sort of talent related to crit. The proc is beast REGARDLESS of class. The stats are amazing for the content we're at atm.
Also, newsflash, life isn't perfect. Get over it

It's definitely a pally mace. The proc is pretty much only useful for MT healers unless its a situational fight where there is constant raid damage to the entire raid.
I'm not saying I would turn it down if it were handed to me, but if I was a guild leader and it came down to my MT Pally (or priest) healer or my Raid Healing Druid, it doesn't matter how much DKP the Druid has, its a MT healing mace.
I can see from the comments that this is going to cause some drama. Thankfully half the people commenting don't have the skill to even obtain the mace. =P

Remember Atiesh? Each class that could use it had their own version from a slightly different quest. However, the staves themselves weren't actually marked for each particular class, since the quests handled that. We can't say for certain just yet that every class will get the exact same mace.
Michael Apr 24th 2009 10:18PM
@ Klink-o
Exactly. I'm surprised you were the only one mentioning it; this looks like the Paladin version. I don't think most players even remember Atiesh anymore, so they've clearly glossed over this rather obvious possibility.
Alkaios Apr 24th 2009 10:40PM
@Michael
I said it earlier in mine...
Thaanar Apr 24th 2009 10:55PM
Resto Shammies would like that mace since they don't use Spirit anyway
